I'd Rather Have The Ravens Loses Over The Steelers

12 posts in this topic

Steeler fan here, I've been so disgusted with football these past few weeks as all of you can understand.

But seeing that the Steelers and Ravens both have the same .500 record (I know Ravens have the tie breaker)I was looking at both teams loses and I just have to say.

The Ravens loses are at least to respectable teams with a combined record of 55-17(.764 win).

The Steelers loses are to horrible teams and its atrocious, the teams they lose to have a combined record of 36-36 (.500 win) and the Bengals skew that stat too and make it higher than it seems.

Better days are to come for both of these teams, Jacksonville has a hell of a next three games. Miami is no slouch, Home for Indy then off to NE..

As for Denver, they should more than likely end up 10-6 with loses to philly and Indy.

Its still up for grabs, the Jets are a mess and will not win out. Its down to Miam, Baltimore & the Steelers to catch the Jags and Broncos.

To me Steeler fans are always welcome on these boards as long as they are as respectful as you are.

Your loss to KC is inexcusable but I'm not so sure about the Oakland game. Maybe if Tomlin didn't say you would "unleash hell in December" people wouldn't be making such a big deal about it.

Look at the teams Oakland has beaten. Philly, Cinci, Pittsburg, and KC. Thats pretty good.

I personally would like to see the Ravens get another shot at the Bengals this year.

Why? I love my Ravens but they don't match up well with Cincy. Their corners shut down the Ravens' receivers and Palmer knows how to dissect the Ravens' secondary.

Thank you and welcome.

Your points are spot on. Not to rub salt into a raw wound but those are exactly the reasons why I want to scream when idiot sports writers rank the Steelers higher. Based on what? Google hits?

Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Know this though, I feel your pain. This has been a less than enjoyable season for the AFC North. There's nothing better that two top notch teams going at it, something the Ravens/Steelers usually provide. Not so much this year.

Win some, lose some, there's always next season.

forgot to add - good luck tonight. May it be an injury free game.

Definitely a disappointing season for both teams thus far. No way possible did I think both of them would be 6 - 6 at this point....

Sad thing is, we thought the second game of the series between the Ravs & Steel would determine the AFC North winner.

Now it might decide who is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

I mean, yes the Steelers loses suck, regardless of who the team is.

But does it drive you guys crazy that you have no wins against elite teams this year.

I know some guys on here are complaining about the coaching of the Ravens, but seriously that isn't the issue based on your loses.

In my eyes, the Ravens loses are from the skill set. You guys don't have the secondary and Flacco has regressed this year, Ray Rice is AMAZING but Flacco is using him too much as a dumpoff and is reading through his progressions way way too fast on the receivers downfield (I know the receivers don't get open but still). The Ravens have won the games they shouldve won and lost the games that not necessary they should have lost, but was like 50/50 as to who would win.

You guys have the heart and coaching, I just don't think you have the receivers or secondary to win against the elite teams right now. Don't take that the wrong way but after 12 games it's evident what the problems are.

As for the Steelers, it's the opposite. Tomlin and the coaching staff is completely doing a piss poor job of coaching this year. With this easy schedule, the Steelers should have been 12-4 at WORST. The coaching staff isn't doing a good job of getting the team up for the games.

Ugh, I can't talk about this anymore, it pisses me off. Here is to the Jags and Broncos all catching the flu for the next 4 weeks.

Why? So we can lose to a divisional rival two years in a row? Maybe Cleveland will be a legit team next year and we can make it a hat trick.

We've beaten two quality teams: San Diego and Denver.

The Ravens are mediocre, though, so it's not surprising that they can't keep up with the best teams.

Dou you think that the coaches don't have a say in what personnel are brought in? They deserve a fair share of the blame too.

You mentioned the team having "the heart." Have you been watching Ravens games lately? By "lately" I mean all year. They don't play with any of the passion that they're known for.

It isn't just the secondary and the recievers; just look at the front seven. They are basically the same players from last year and from the year before that, but they are positively lethargic on the field (save #52).

I'll give my useless opinon on your team. It's a Super Bowl slump just like last time.

The Ravens beat San Diego, Denver, and the Steelers. They also had to play Minnesota and GB away, while the Steelers instead had Chicago and Detroit away.

The Steelers also beat San Diego and Denver, but you are probably referring to the Minnesota game. The Steelers did beat the Vikings at home, but remember that the Ravens came pretty close to beating them in Minnesota, and the Steelers were quite fortunate in that game to have two red zone turnovers that went for touchdowns.

Flacco is not regressing. We do not have good receivers, and a lot of the time Flacco sees that they are not open. Combine that with a mediocre performance by our offensive line, and you start to understand why he dumps off to Rice. No one thought we had good receivers or a good secondary, so we're not exactly offended by your revelation 12 games later.

Saying that the coaching staff isn't doing a good job of getting the team "up for games" is kind of presumptuous and lame. The Steelers blew games against the Bears, Chiefs and Raiders. I'm sure your coaches are doing what they need to do, but your defense hasn't been playing well and finishing games. The Steelers and Ravens are both good teams, and they would be bigger variables in the postseason than you might think.

Guess that's all based on opinion, and what you consider an elite team.

But the Ravens played 3 VERY close games against: Vikings, Colts, and Patriots.

The Vikings game could have been won on a last second field goal. The Colts game could have been won if they converted in the red zone even once.

Who have the Steelers beaten? Please don't say the Vikings. Everyone knows the Vikings won that game, and then the officials threw a flag and called some imaginary "tripping" call after the winning touchdown was scored.

And the coaches can EASILY be blamed for some of the Ravens losses. But I'm no going to get into that. Everyone has been questioning the play-calling on both sides of the ball for most of the season.
