you know what I have been a fan of this team since inception I want you to know that you need to pipe down . the poster is right we need to back off and let things work.
So have I. I never meant to sound angry, and I am not. Just a little annoyed with folks who have the same mindset as the topic starter, and you. We can agree to disagree, but I will certainly not back off. We have every right to rant, whine or what have you. We are fans...not sportswriters where topics and opinions like these would get you canned. The ones who need to cool off are those who get their panties in a wad over an internet message board.

Another shut-the-hell-up-and-never-crticize-the-team post? :34853_shakehead: I am beginning to think the FO is sending spies in here to make these topics.

I understand where you are coming from, but fans getting upset about this season is a legitimate emotion. It's not as if they were undefeated and lost one game and people are complaining. NO...they have been awful recently, and as fans we can and will call them on it. They were expected to at least make the playtoffs, and now are very likely not going to. It's the same old crap from this franchise. One year they shock the NFL by being good, the next the shock by being less than average. The most frustrating part is that they really ARE better than this, yet every other year they take a huge step back from where they were. So trying to figure out why on an internet message board makes me not a fan?

You do make a point that the bar was set VERY high for them this year. Still, the coaching and play we have witnessed in those losses (and even some of those wins) makes us want to drive off a cliff. Since that is very counterproductive to life, we have to vent by other means. Hence the fan boards. Fan boards are OPINION writing for the most part. And, as such, emotion will come into the posts. It is unavoidable...so instead of trying to tell everyone not to do it (which is futile) just ignore it if you hate it so much.

dont you all whom complain that your not getting it your way realizethat this is the NFL? each year the reset button is hit. Nothing in this league is a given. i dont see why your so suprised. so we went to the AFCC game last year. the steelers won the friggin SB and look at them. you all act like the ravens owe you something and like this is the same team as last year. they dont and its not. I know Harbaugh stormed in last year and took us far when we wernt expecting much and im greatful for the smooth transition but last year was the confluence of 2 regimes. i concider this our first true rebuilding year of the harbaugh era and were doing alright. we had alot of pieces in place and alot to replace. I meen just think about it within the next 5 years we will be a compleatly different team and i like how its starting we are evening out in all phases of the game. imo soon we will be better at all phases because of this philosophy. joes #s are up rays #s are up our d was doing a hell of a lot better the 3 or 4 games befor GB. we foud a couple rookies with bright futures. but best of all we are becoming more ballanced. so you can complain till you turn blue in the face, all u lil varuka salts, or you can just do the best thing for your team and support them.
of course i belive that our thoughts negative or posative are very powerful and influential things

i know this board is for complaint as much as it is compliment. condemnation as much as kudos. i know you have a choice of your view point and opinion. i just cant see why the sky is falling in on you. I dont see why some of you are already looking tward the off season. I see that we still have a shot at the playoffs(and superbowl by proxy)and alot of fight in our team. i see a possible sweep of the steelers. i see joe improoving. i see rice blowing up. i see oher webb and kruger. i cant wrap my head around why you would complain instead of focus on positives. its called spring cleaning for a reason we will deal with that during the appropriate season (u know the off one) but if your a 12th man you do like the team dose and focus on the task at hand

and yes i am a spy for the ravens but which of you haters is an anti-raven spy? hhmmmmm?

When did I ever say I did not support them? When did I ever say the young guys are not positives? When did I ever say the sky was falling on me? This is precisely what I am trying to say. There are a lot of folks here who take the complaints or even good criticism and immediately turn them into negativity or lack of fandom, regardless of the content of the post. They get called haters or whatever un-original insult-of-the-week. Now that's just people who want stick their fingers in their ears and scream "LA LA LA LA LA LA."

You are right, the NFL does change on a dime. Mid season the Steelers looked playoff bound again...then BOOM...5 straight losses. And, yes I agree...this is still a team that is building. But that doesn't mean we stick our heads in the sand. After all, supporting the blo's no matter what hasn't done much!
hater, homer its all un-original.
hater is more a term of endearment than an insult. im not sticking my head in the sand. i know everything isnt all well and good, but that is just the human condition. everything has a flaw. its all amatter of perspective. will you focus on the bad or the good? our opinions, positive or negative, as a whole "hasnt done much" as far as what happens with the team so why keep getting yourself upset... but i dont really care you can be disgruntaled with the team that im happy with, again, its all a matter of perspective. i will, however, preach positivity because im a firm beliver in it

I was just teasing with the head in sand thing...something that's hard to clarify whilst typing.

The bolded part is VERY true. But I don't think I ever have gotten that upset to the point where I am overcome with emotion...well maybe immediately after the game! So I go split some wood, or run a few miles and forget all about it until next game. Disgruntled is the wrong word, because I can see the Ravens have mucho talent. If I were an Okland or Browns fan...then yeah that term woudl work. Frustrated is spot on...because I can see the talent they have, yet also see the lackluster play at times. The Ravens have also shot themselves in the foot this year time and again.
i wasnt singin songs and roasting marshmellos after that game either. but i looked at it and what i saw was that we can come back and win if we can correct a couple mistakes. i hate saying we should this and that but you gotta admit we had some pretty good games aginst good teams and our record should be atleast one higher in the win colum and i think harbaugh acted comendably on that issue(kicker) i think it is all more than possible to make playoffs. have faith friends

why can't there be room for the positive people, the realistic people, and the negative people... it causes conflict, conflict makes things more interesting, would you honestly continually come back here if everyone would just totally agree with everything you said... the difference of opinion is what these forums thrive off of... for any team

personally the difference of opinions, to see what people think about certain topics, the intelligence of the posts is what keeps me coming back... hell I think I learn more about sports and people here then in the regular news/espn or whatever

People need to understand that just because someone disagrees with what you think, doesn't make them any inferior of a person....

and honestly it doesn't hurt to read the positive posts along with the negative, and the realistic.

the positive give hope, which will keep us from becoming the browns or lions who's fans have totally given up on them and are blacked out

the realistic keeps things in pretty good perspective

the pessimist posts make us realize how much worse things could be....

and honestly is it so bad to be disappointed, to disappoint that means you had to have some pretty good performance or hype... which basically means you had to have been doing something right

see this guys a 12th man

great post reddawn you are absolutely right there is a place for everyone and their viewpoint. all the diffrent perspectives are most assuredly are needed to make a whole/complete picture of whats going on. but i must admit that i am biased aginst pessimism because this was my familys natural reaction to everything. growing up all i heard was you cant do this or this will never happen or thats a stupid idea ect ect... its just from that exp that i come to find your better off looking for the silver lining. i do understand it isnt for everyone it just sounds like half these ppl have already given up when we still have a great chance. i meen take a step back and look at it, fate has kept us in this playoff race. we could just as easily have no chance at a wildcard but everything is seemingly falling into place. thats huge to me and all we gotta do as fans is sit back and watch our boys fight their way in

Well then wrap your head around this: people are complaining because the Ravens aren't likely to make the playoffs, despite having been to the AFCCG last year.

Presto.

the thing with pessimistic type people though, their criticism is usually the MOST accurate.... we actually just learned about this in my psychology class...

and believe me when I tell you, I don't like it either, because I'm kind of in the same boat as you because just about everyone I know tells me that I'm an idiot for what I want to do among other things.... trying to put doubt in my dreams.... and I hate when people do it, because I don't ask for it I don't go up to them and try to screw with theirs... but as stated before what they say is most accurate when it comes to criticism, however, they look for ways to achieve the bare minimum.. someone who is positive might have their hands full, but they are definitely going to work hard to achieve it

while we're on the subject... look up the book or movie called the secret... it will put things in a lot better perspective on the subject (believe me its pretty well worth it too)

It's pretty simple really.

Inputs -> Process -> Outputs

Inputs = Talent on both sides of the ball, determination, on the field leadership.
Process = Coaching, play calling, practice, schemes.
Outputs = 6-6 Record

So...why are we condemning those who see fault in our team?

This is not the same team as the Ravens of old. Everybody knows it because we have talent on the offensive side of the football. The Ravens have been winging seasons on defense alone, so sorry if some of us figure the addition of a capable offense should make us strong contenders instead of the average team we've been watching this season. Besides...

Criticism does not hinder progression, it contributes to it.

My friend I am with you 100% in how you feel. We should as fans support the team, in bad times and good.

I think some people are prone to lash out when frustrated.

Many after last year's performance, and the preseason, thought the Ravens would dominate the league. I think they are disappointed that this hasn't happened, and they feel the need to vent. Usually this comes in the form of a blame either on someone or something.

Actually the VAST majority of Ravens fans I speak with here in Northern Virginia are behind the team 100% no matter what happens this season. I think the Ravens organization knows this, and hopefully ignores the "Negative Nellie's".

GO Ravens! :18_1_301:

We have never made the playoffs back to back, is it that hard to wrap your head around?

Which is why people should not be getting down but do the best to support the team and hope.(I'm not directing this at anyone)
