No Huddle Offense

8 posts in this topic

As we all know there were alot of things that contributed to the loss of this game i could list them all but we all know, i was just wondering if anyone else was yelling at the TV lastnight to go no huddle, or hurry up offence and keep Joe in the shot gun?? after thge interception in the red zone i was like no huddle let's get it in gear, put Flacco inshot gun, pick up the pace but as you could see they were like zombies walking up to the line ,it was just terrible. I was calling for shot gun i thing in first qt and no huddle around that time also maybe it would have gotten us in a grove or something, something needed to be fixed at least after the half, What did they actually change from first half to second half?? I have hard time finding any difference. So let me know what you think of no huddle?

The no-huddle offense suits Flacco, but only when the situation isn't as dire as the end of the game last night. Usually, that slow pace doesn't hurt Flacco and the offense as much because it gives him time to analyze as his guys are setting up, but when you're down 13 points and need a quick score and another score to follow, there needs to be much more urgency. Last night's pace was certainly fine for a regular 2-minute drill before the half, but not before the end of the game. The coaches need to work with Flacco on establishing that sense of urgency given the game situation.

As much as I hate to admit it (with how much I hated the commentary last night), Jon Gruden had a great point when he said that the situation called for shots downfield and nothing but shots downfield; I would've even settled for intermediate routes, but throwing the short stuff with the hopes of gaining yards after the catch was just plain horrid.

It wasn't just at the end of the game with 1:52left to play , The no huddle, shot gun should have been used earlier to keep defence of Gb off balance . Use it in first Qt try and get going than go back to normal, maybe ome out after half run no huddle, something. I understand with just under 2 min to play we should have tried something but as you could tell they just gave up, i really don't know why we didn't just take a knee.Really

I would have preferred us sticking to the run more than anything. Sure it wasn't effective early and we got down but we basically gave up on it by the 2qt when we were only down 10-0. Give it a chance. Rice can break one at any time.

Bottom line...pick and identity and stick to it. Right now nobody knows what we are. Are we a power running team? Are we a west coast style offense? Are we a run n gun heave it down the field team? Are we a play action passing team? Are we a high temp no huddle team (a la Indy Colts) Make up your mind Cam.

I was yelling for the no huddle as well and have been for weeks. We should have opened the game going "hurry up" and got into some sort of rhythm. The O has excelled when it has been used. It was so painful to see them crawling out of the huddle and plodding along. No rhythm, no groove and easily predictable.

The thing is this NEVER seems to work in our favor when we try to do short stuff for big gains. Then again it seems like nothing ever does.

That's what I'm talking about no rythum, it's was a zombie like offence all night , i couldn't believe after the half that we still didn't change, boy this game was coached bad, and players got beat and beat down it's a shame i really think if we would have changes the pace of this game early it would have turned out better. It's one thing to loose and give it all you got you can hold your head up high but it's another thing to loose like this lack luster game the coaches dialed up and the players played it's ashame to put those men in a position like this.
