If The Colts And Saints Finish 16-0, Is 16-0 Really That Special?

9 posts in this topic

I mean that would make 3 times in less than 5 years that a team finished the regular season with a perfect record. If it happens that often, how can it be a special accomplishment? And what does that say about the NFL today if it happens? I mean can the NFL really claim to be a league of parity if it happens 3 times in as many years?

Only is if they win the Superbowl.
I'd rather the Ravens go 8-8, barely make the playoffs and win the Superbowl, then pulling an '07 Patriots on us.

I think it was more special in the past until New England did it and then ultimately lost in the Super Bowl. I think now teams look at it from New England's perspective that it doesn't mean anything unless you win the ultimate prize.

Yup, not really all that great of an accomplishment to state "The best regular season ever" if you don't win it all.

well I don't think two pro teams have ever finished a regular season with perfect records so that has to be something special in its own. If neither make it to the Super Bowl, it will be the biggest disappointment ever.

It will only be special if if they both make it to the Superbowl 18-0, since the Pats have already had a perfect regular season.

With that being said, I'm pretty sure the Colts will rest starters for at least a game or 2 since thats what they historically do. But who knows with the new coach.

Of course it's special, but it's meaningless if you don't win the Super Bowl... imagine if the Colts and Saints both finish 16-0 and meet in the Super Bowl. It's gonna be a shame that one of them has to have that one blemish, coming in the biggest game.

I think it would be more of an attestment to how 1 sided the league has become, making it exceptionally difficult for defensive teams, and alot easier for offensive teams.... its kind of an example on how off balance things really are
