...
1.)Would you rather win super bowls and have some unsavory team members or 2.)would you rather have a struggling for the playoffs every year team, that are a great bunch of role models?

Number 2, please.

Sorry, but "going into battle" and "guys having your back" are meaningless cliches/coaching rhetoric that have no real relevance to the game of football and the degree to which players can perform. And, honestly, we don't need to depend on professional football players "whatever the situation," we need to depend on them while on the field, and the guys that perform best on the aren't always necessarily the guys that behave like saints in their free time.

Also, it's not called building a TEAM it's called building a FOOTBALL TEAM -- meaning you's want to get the best, y'know, FOOTBALL players.

Somebody might want to let the Ravens front office know that Nelson Mandela is free to play, cuz he might not be too great of a football player, but as we all know, he is one heck of a guy.

I totally disagree. The building of a football team is not just a matter of assembling the best players, but a matter of assembling the best players that will play together as a TEAM. Football is a TEAM sport. Part of playing together as a TEAM has to do with with each individual's personal attributes and how they react to adversity as well as success. It also has to do with knowing everyone around you is on the same mission.

This not an ideal or something illusionary. It has been proven time and time again in many sports; Just because you spend a boatload of money and assemble the best players, it does not guarantee success. And if you think "going into battle" and "guys having your back" are rhetorical and meaningless, go ask Ray Ray what he thinks about that opinion.

It is obvious you want to get the best players (gee, what a great idea!), but not at the expense of poisoning TEAM chemistry.

After reading this story how can you defend Suggs and or try to place any blame on the woman. Her driving the 2008 Hummer has nothing to do with nothing, that is just a vehicle. Oh by the way they have 2 Hummers and a BMW sitting in the drive way.

Make that three. As I've already stated, I've been this route. You can put whatever you want on the complaint. In fact, I was encouraged by one of the women at the courthouse to "really play it up" in mine. I didn't but I know for a fact there are plenty of people out there who would. Especially when that kind of cash is involved.

edit to add - I've also dealt with an abusive (now ex)spouse. I can assure you the absolute LAST thing I wanted to do was roll around in some bling ride with his name embroidered on it. I didn't want to see him, think about him, or breathe the same air. This stinks of drama.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioed but according to PFT, Suggs is getting sued for $70 Million. Here's the link: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/10/suggs-gets-sued-for-70-million/

I know nobody here knows what exactly happened but according to the article this woman went and got a restraining order first, now she is claiming that Suggs struck and tried to pour bleach on his two small children and now is suing for $70 million and custody of the kids.

IMO, considering the amount he is being sued for, this has money and gold digger written all over it. I hope Suggs can still play this weekend but I hope the league doesn't get into this mess and leaves it to the court.

The case will not go anywhere. She's claimed she dialed 911 on Suggs multiple times, but there's no record of any 911 calls... ever. There's also no record of her contacting police, no record of any physical harm ever done to her, no one has ever seen any bruises on her and she's never seen a psychiatrist for mental trauma. .

The end result will be diminished responsibility on behalf of Suggs for the children (mutual custody with her having the majority) and he'll end up paying child support. Only reason she'll get majority custody is she can easily fight in court that he's never home and would not be a good majority parent.

What she's trying to do is get money from him for the fact they're not married. She can't get alimony or a settlement, so she wants to paint a picture of a violent spouse because of his career as a hard hitting, angry-on-the-field tough football player.

I sure hope you guys are right in dismissing this.
I am going to be pretty disgusted with Sizzle should this be true.
NO man has any reason to lay hands on a woman.

Very true. ;)
I just hope it isn't true.

I don't know if this has been addressed already, but what happens with Sizzles contract should he be incarcerated?

Could we have another Michael Vick-type situation?
