Merged: Restraining Order On Suggs

75 posts in this topic

I can put a restraining order on anybody, so can you. This does not mean he actually did anything, there may reason to ask questions but does not mean he is guilty of ANYTHING>
The order dictates that Suggs cannot abuse, contact or enter the residence of the woman, pending a court hearing on Dec. 11.
Sounds like she kicked him out of the house and that is not illegal. It does not take much to get a temp. peace order and there is no police report to go with it so it does not sound like he hit her. Guess we will learn Suggs side on the 11th.
There is not enough there to assault the character of the man, it happens all the time. It is meant as a legal cooling off time..

As you all know, Suggs has run into some legal trouble. Regardless of his innocence, our image in the media has taken a blow. This could be a good thing, hear me out and don't get heated and negative the bejesus out of me.

I'm assuming that since we made Suggs a wealthy man this summer, we are essentially married to him. If we trade him, we may not get equal value, so let's just say we are stuck.

This removes the idea of the Ravens turning a new leaf and being a squeeky clean organization, full of players who frequent libraries instead of bars/stip clubs during their off hours.

Here is the positive: We can now bring in some bad apples with talent like Marshall, Boldin or Bowe. I don't mean to focus on WR but that is where we hurt, obviously with a guy like Suggs considered the face of our franchise after Lewis (maybe Flacco), we'd look like the Billick Ravens open to problematic FAs or other uncouth players at any position.

I'm okay with this because Harbaugh, while I like him much more than Billick, has not done what is best for his team in every situation. If we had Bowe, Marshall or Boldin we would not be in a wild card race, we would be winning the division. Harbaugh denied these players because of their off the field, on in Boldin's case (screaming at coach during SB XL) issues. Harbaugh also ruled out the all black uniforms, something that urks me personally but more importantly removes some intimidation factor for our team during prime time games.

In my opinion, allowing some rotten apples with talent to become Ravens would be a winning idea. It work for us in 2000.

Bellicheat is a great example of doing what's best for his team. The 4th down calls are always the right call and bringing in a guy like Moss, who had character issues, paid off because this is what's best for his team, NOT THEIR IMAGE.

Would you rather win super bowls and have some unsavory team members or would you rather have a struggling for the playoffs every year team, that are a great bunch of role models?

I'm not suggesting we go out and collect all the talent that is currently out on bail, just saying one or two questionable characters will help greatly and our image is tarnished now anyway with Suggs.

lol I like the post, its original and I agree to an extent. Alot of teams win championships with some questionable characters on their team. And I find it ironic that Harbaugh preaches men of integrity and doesnt want anything to do with guys who have had a couple scuffles off the field when you look at our draft class. Kruger is missing an organ because a fight broke out at a party while he was at Utah and he got stabbed what 3 times? Webb got bounced from his original D1 school for breaking team rules, from what I heard he got into a fight with a guy who knocked up his GF so I mean I would have done the same thing but its still what the Ravens would consider "character issues". Ellerbe got arrested at Georgia and charged for felony theft of a motor vehicle, giving false info to the police, and a DUI with underage possession of booze. Now these 3 guys have contributed hugely the last 3 weeks, Webb is a starter, Ellerbe splits time, and Kruger made the play of his lifetime in OT. 3 guys we picked up this year in/around the draft all with character issues that have been immeasurable in their contribution to our team this year.

I refuse to believe he hit or abused any woman until I see an official statement. On the other hand, I hope to Johnny U this is not what everyone thinks. Like most of the people said up above, its really easy to get a restraining order placed.

Yeah, you're thinking way too far.

It's a restraining order, if anything, Suggs will play better after controversy.

He may not have done anything at all.

All I know is that we need him back on the field as soon as possible.

Suggs=overrated and over paid
Hes performed to or above his contract every year except this one, to say hes over rated is both incorrect and naive.

I agree that placing priority on on-the-field talent should take priority over "character," but the idea that Harbaugh is going to hear about Suggs' domestic issues and suddenly start bringing in troubled guys -- well, that's a little ridiculous.

I'm concerned that Harbaugh is now going to stuff Suggs into his already cramped doghouse -- it wouldn't surprise me at all.

It's also pretty damn easy to target a wealthy athlete for money. Lots of real trashy people out there trying to "sex you up - then lock you up" when you are a pro athlete. Hopefully, Suggs will have his day in court before judegement.

I wasn't saying Harbaugh is going to open the flood gates to troublemakers, I'm saying he now has a window and should consider to proceed with caution.

I think the only way Harbaugh stops his clean up campaign is if his job was on the line.

Huh?

Since when has Harbaugh needed a court ruling to stick someone in his doghouse? It seems any perceived violation of his one-size-fits-all moral code -- no matter how unrelated to the football field -- is more than enough cause for Harbaugh to condemn their character and isolate them, even at the possible expense of his football team.

He's said it himself: "character matters," and i'm sure Suggs so-called "character" has taken a hit in his eyes.

Im fairly certain that if Harbaugh had the same team in 2000 we wouldnt have won the Super Bowl. Thats not a slight against his coaching capacity, but more or less how well Billick was able to handle the different personalities he had on the team. Ray and Jamal, C-Mac was never a standout people person and did what he wanted, after watching hard knocks in 2001 I got the impressive Starks kinda did what he wanted at practice for the most part as well. The most telling is what would Harbaugh have done with Ray, in the middle of his prime and the court preceedings, would he have suspended the greatest MLB of all time? Released him? What would he have done with Jamal and his coke incident, he was still averaging over 4.5 YPC.

Look... I think we can all agree that Suggs isn't exactly the best looking guy out there. This girl got her money, and probably wants to move on to someone other guy who isn't nearly as famous or rich, but appeals to her more physically.

Remember... Eve ate the apple!
