Epic Madden Victory

Well, I was playing the other night against the Panthers (online).
I was getting beat pretty good (20 pts) until the 4th quarter.
The guy had the game won but was getting greedy. I kept fighting after he tried to get me to concede. NO WAY, I was tired of him running the wildcat with Stewart!
So, I went the the good old 3deep press (and used Johnson as the QB spy) and he fell into the trap.
Foxxy picks him off at his 20 and takes it to the house. Sweet, down 13!

So then I kick an onsides kick. Mason recoverd it... We are in BIZ NOW!.
Dial up a Ravens Pitch with line set to block right, to RR and he takes it 45 yds for a TD. I try another onsides, does not work. 1 minute left at this point. (still have 2 timeouts).
Instead of him just running the clock out, he continues to try and pass the ball.
he moves it down to the 5 yd line from a deep catch by Steve SMith.
I'm thinking, keep playing around Jerk..I'm going to get you! Well, wouldnt you know it....he tries to run the score up on me... So, I kknew he was going to Steve Smith in the middle of the endzone! I played a Cover3 press but put Reed as playing Middle Zone. What does Eddie do? Pics off Delhome with ZERO time on the clock and returns it for 106 yds! In this run back he broke two tackles and laid a mean stiff arm on a guy. Ed is sort of slow though, Bainbridge ( think thats his name) almost caught me, just as he was going for a dive tackle I hit the hurdle and he missed. ....
Mind you, this was a MIC game, but I dont have one. of course Cundif kicks the extra point and I win You should have heard this ghetto MF'R, it was AWESOME! Needless to say, hes on my friends list now. we exchanged a few witty messages. I initially just said " ha, you GREEDY SOB, ED REED4THEWIN".
I ususally dont talk crap unless someone quits but I had to let this guy have it!

Yes sir. It was like my third game of Madden2010. I just got it on Black friday. i'm getting the hang of it. Actually playing a season now. Its crazy how much you can learn that way.

yeah, u probably learn a lot unless u play a season like i do, with all the starters' stats maxed out and difficulty on rookie. 4min quarters and average score of 150-0. Thats just what I do to make myself feel better after I get whooped online.

Awesome dude, I cant stand the Wildcat either, especially teams that dont even use it. Madden 10 kind of gave me hope for EA. I like the challenge, Im not trying to be cocky or anything like yeaaahh son im the shizz but in Madden 08' and 09' they would match me up with these people that absolutley sucked but in 10' just about every online game has been pretty close.

omg, just got done with an epic Madden victory of my own. I'll try to keep it short and simple though.
I used the saints, he used the vikings.
I simply could not stop AP in the first half. He had 9 runs for 178 yards. I was down 21-3 in the first quarter because I threw two stupid picks. I changed my gameplan a little and found some passing plays that he simply could not stop. it was 35-24 at the half. I got the ball back to start the 3rd and scored on two plays and hit a 2pt conv to make it a fg game. He countered with a 70+ yard TD run and then I countered with a reggie bush ko return for a TD. So that whole game pretty much went back and forth. The turning point was after I took a 4 point lead and he then scored a TD he went for the 2pt to make me have to score a TD, but he didnt get it. I got the ball with 4:28 left and worked the clock all the way down to :03 at the 9 yard line to win it.

Scary part is AP beat his own single game rushing record, he went for 329yds. I still won though cuz the guy played cheap. Went for it on 4th at his own 20 and I sacked him, then went for two when he didnt need to.

Morale of the story is just play to win the game, not play to run up the score, or you might just lose.

I have an Epic Madden victory from a few years back. I was at a friend's house and we were having a round-robin tournament. My one friend had beaten everybody else pretty bad (only one close game) and I was the last one he played because I got there late. I think it was Madden 06 or 07, but my friend was playing as the Ravens and said I had to choose a different team. I went with the Chiefs and he started out absolutely crushing me. I couldn't stop him on defense and couldn't get anything moving on defense. He was taunting the hell outta me, especially because I was punting and kicking field goals. I was getting pretty pissed off, so I decided I was just going to have fun, regardless of the outcome of the game. It turned into something of a shootout after that (lots of 1-3 play drives) but I was slowly gaining on him. With under two minutes to go, I scored to come within 4 points. I went for the onsides kick and somehow recovered it. I scored with around 30 seconds left in the game. I knew he was going to run an off-tackle play, because Jamal Lewis was unstoppable when he did that, so I ran a run-blitz to that side, he only got a short gain and had to use his last timeout. I faked a blitz the next play and he ran a play action, passed to Heap for only 15 yards and the clock expired as he was running a hurry-up for one more play.

Everyone went nuts, cause my friend was being a real d-bag when playing (he loved sitting and watching the instant replays, even pausing the game to watch them again.) He demanded a rematch right there, but after a quick score by me, followed by a pick-six, my friend threw the controller down and stormed out of the house to my screams of, "This game counts too! I beat you twice!"

By the way, the final score was something like 90-87

I got a epic Madden victory but it was also one of my strangest victorys. I was playing my Ravens Franchise in my third year where I just came off a huge Super Bowl win against the Falcons where Flacco was named MVP. My first game was a road game against the Chargers, still can't figure out how I can win the Super Bowl and not play on Thursday Night in the opening week like in the NFL. I was down 3 to 17 at half. My Rookie Kicker Kyle Hammer, missed a FG to keep it 3 to 17 at the end of the half. If you guys come across Kyle Hammer in any of the Madden generated drafts, he is projected in the 6th round, draft him, he turns out to be a 80 OVR with "A" Potential. Pick him up if you don't have a Kicker. I get down the field in the third quarter to make it 10 to 17 Chargers.

Eventually it comes down to them having a 27 to 20 lead in the 4th quarter. I used one time out before the two minute warning when there was 2:30 on the clock. I stop the Chargers and let them run the clock to the two minute warning so that I could have the ball with 2 minutes left and either score and leave them with no time left and go to OT or score and let Phillip Rivers have a chance to drive them down the field. I get the down the field, using 1 timeout and getting 1st downs and stopping the clock by running out of bounds. I find Kelly Washington with 5 seconds remaining and score to take the game to OT. Now here comes the strange part. I stopped them on defense got the ball back. I'm getting down field, and on 3rd & 1 I throw to Todd Heap, it's complete when you look at the replay with both feet in bounds, but they ruled incomplete. I was going to challenge but I was going to let the McClain train get the first on the 4th down play.

Before I went to pick my 4th down play, I see Coach's challenge come up, and I thought the game made Harbaugh challenge the play for me but instead it's a cut scene to the CHARGERS sideline where Norv Turner is throwing the challenge flag, yes Norv Turner. He challenged that Heap was in bounds so the call would be over turned and ruled a 1st down..... FOR ME! That sounds odd, but yes it happened, Norv Turner challenged that Todd Heap was in bounds thus allowing me to kick a 35 yard FG to win the game 30 to 27. I couldn't believe it, I know Madden 10 has some glitches but that is the oddest glitch I have ever seen.

I was in the 2nd year of my Franchise. I was 7-0 going against the 7-0 Steelers in Baltimore. The game went back and forth and I was up by 4 with 2 minutes to go. The Steelers were pinned back pretty good, but I can never stop a 2-minute offense. The first play of the drive, I sack Roethlisberger (out for 8 weeks) using Pryce, causing the Steelers to go 4-and-out and winning the game. Luckily, I play them again before Roethlisberger comes back.

All challenges come from the booth in OT though. Did you actually see Norv throw the flag or just see him on the sideline?

I've had Heap make a catch in the back of the endzone. It was called a touchdown, but I was pretty sure that he didn't get either foot in bounds. It was challenged and the replay just confirmed that for me. However, the ruling on the field was upheld.

Refs still can't get it right in a videogame.

Funny, I had a match with the pats as the Ravens as kind of a pregame premonition match last night and I was up 21 nothing. Guy promptly quit on me, I sent him a message saying "too bad the Patriots won't be able to (female dog) out like that tomorrow" . dude apologized and said he wished us luck against them. Coincidence I guess.

The 2 wierdest ones I can remember:

1. In Madden 07, I was playing a Fantasy Draft franchise, and was the Ravens playing the Peyton Manning-led Chiefs in the playoffs. It was a pretty back and forth game until I was up 28-27 with a minute and a half to go. Manning got them downfield, and with :15 and no timeouts completed a pass to my 5 yard line for an easy FG for whoever their kicker was.

Anyway, they ran the hurry up and I'm fully expecting the spike and then to lose. Instead, Manning AUDIBLES into FG formation and tries to kick the FG himself! It misses pathetically, and I win.

2. Just a couple of weeks ago in Madden 10, I was driving down the field in the AFC Championship game, down by a touchdown. My QB hit one of my receivers who broke a tackle and was then hit by the safety who was coming across, and fumbled the ball at the 1 yard line. It didn't roll very far, and just sort've sat up just inside the field of play. Their cornerback sprints across to pick up the fumble, and his momentum carries him into the endzone and out over the sideline! It was a safety, I got the ball back and won.

I just had one of these last night. I was playing a guy using the Jags and he won the toss and chose to kick. So I gave him a heavy dose of RR and McGahee and took around the entire first quarter to score. I kick the ball to him and he starts running zig zags and takes the ball to the 50. Then he threw a pass to Sims-Walker in the flats that went for a TD so it was 7-7. I got the ball did the same thing but got stopped in the red zone so I kicked a FG. He then did his zig zags again and made it to the 12 yard line. I 3 and outed him and made him tie it up 10-10. 3rd quarter came he got the ball and needless to say scored another TD to make it 17-10. I panicked when unnecessary and made a bad throw that was intercepted for a TD to bring the score to 24-10. I decided to keep to the game plan and drove down the field scored a TD, 3 and outed the guy and scored another TD. Flacco had 3 TD's 2 to rice and one to Williams. I scored with 46 seconds left so it was 24-24 and his ball. Instead of going to overtime he tries to force it but gets picked off by Landry at his own 26. I kicked the FG with 10 seconds remaining and won the game.

Funny thing is at the end of the game I noticed I had the time of possession for over 23 minutes to his 4. Must of been boring for him to play defense and not be able to stop me all game.
