MVP whether anyone wants to admit it or not is going to be Tom Brady due to his numbers. He may not be the "most valuable" to his team but the award is a numbers award.. which means it's his.

Defensive player of the year is tough. I think right now Aaron Kampman would get my vote (DE for GB) for it. Haynesworth makes a good argument but his injury I think is going to reduce the chance of him winning the award.

Yeah it's true that Haynesworth has been out and therefore nonproductive; however, look at how bad the Titans defense is without him.

Tough call; Haynesworth would probably get my vote if he returns and puts in a few more dominant games.

Ray Lewis may be another potential player....after all he is 2nd in the NFL with most tackles (99 tackles) behind only to Patrick Willis of the 49ers. The Guy is having a Pro Bowl type season.

could sean taylor win it?

I know he hasnt put up DPOY stats, but over the games he played he really dominated.

It would be a nice sendoff.

Willis is definitely benefitting from Singletary's presence, just as Ray did.

Yeah, I normally hate it when a runningback gets assimilated by the hype machine, but Peterson really is amazing.

I'm angry that he got hurt; a 2,000-yard rookie season would have been incredible.

For the record, I picked Favre as the league MVP over Tom Brady and Randy Moss for a couple of reasons:

1) He's having a career year at such an old age that it's remarkable and definitely once-in-a-lifetime.

2) Although Aaron Rodgers has played admirably in his place, Favre has still been so intregal to the Packers' turnaround this season, especially on offense with the elevation of sophistication in his play. Though he's relegated himself to dinking-and-dunking, he does it INTELLIGENTLY and still takes those gunslinger shots down the field when they're there, as evident by that long TD pass to Greg Jennings to win the game against Denver in OT on the first play.

3) He's elevated the talent of those around him. He's made that young offensive line look good by staying calm in the pocket and making smart decisions, and he's made his young receivers look even better by placing the ball perfectly.

And finally,

4) He's #4 of the Green Bay Packers. He'll always be the legendary Brett Favre. Seeing as how this'll likely be the last season of his storied career, why not let him go out with a huge bang? Let him break most of the major career passing records (and extend older ones he's held, as well). Let him take the League MVP. Let him be named to his final All-Pro selection and play in his final Pro Bowl. Let him win one last Super Bowl, since the Ravens are pretty much out of the discussion for that anyway. Let Brett Favre have the ultimate cinderella story at QB of all time. He deserves it.

Because I named Favre the League MVP, I couldn't let Tom Brady go unrecognized, so I felt he deserved the Offensive Player of the Year award, since he has made the most out of all the weapons he has on offense and has given Peyton Manning a run for his money.

Adrian Peterson, of course, couldn't be excluded from that discussion, but he's too young, and his injury has caused a setback in his potentially history-making rookie season, so I named him the Offensive Rookie of the Year instead, since he's far and away the best offensive acquisition in that 1st round of this past draft.

The best DEFENSIVE acquisition in the draft, however, has to hands-down be Patrick Willis, since he's shown the same work ethic and tenacity as the player he models himself after and resembles the most on the field: Ray Lewis.

As for defensive player of the year, I was tempted to give it to Ray Lewis, but in good conscience, couldn't avoid giving it to Sean Taylor (R.I.P.). But since Taylor can't be given the honor, the 2nd-best behind him was Aaron Kampman. Since signing his extension, Kampman has been a force for Green Bay and has resembled Reggie White coming off the edge at times.

Excuse me...the Franchise,

Ahem! Your MVP vote for Favre doesn't count...because you are unashamedly HOT for his old bones...who are you kidding? HA! You want to have his children, for cryin out loud...a house full of little MVP's!

I'm sure that if our Patriot coach had his druthers, he'd pick his adopted son, Ed Belichick...er, I meam Ed REED...as defensive player of the freakin' Millenium. Geez!...he loves that guy! Brady and the rest of the Pats are all jealous as all get-out at the way Bill's lavished praise...in TWO separate press conferences...over Reed, while all they EVER get is yelled at and forced to eat humble pie...with no dessert! YIKES!

YIKES!

...so...if not Favre, then who would YOU vote MVP?

And who says the MVP vote by the writers won't be out of respect for Favre, anyway, if this IS his last season? It's not like he doesn't deserve to win. He's on pace to have one of his best seasons, statistically, and he's giving the Packers one of their best seasons in the last 15 years, if not in franchise history. For someone who is Favre's age to be 2nd behind only Tom Brady in passing yardage by a measly 27-yard difference is amazing. For Favre to technically be outplaying the likes of Peyton Manning would've been mere hyperbole a year ago. But Favre has defied it all, and you can't deny that the Packers wouldn't be having a season like this if it weren't for Favre.

Considering how the Patriots have played, you can take Randy Moss out, and they'd still be successful with Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker. Take Tom Brady out, and there still would've been the ground game with Sammy Morris and Lawrence Mauroney IF the backup QB was not playing well enough to win.

statistically...Favre is on pace to have the BEST season of his career.

plus he's giving the Packers every shot at winning those ball games and in doing so the players respond and play harder and faster. and also leads to this season shaping up to be one of the best Seasons the Packers have had in a long time.

I honestly don't think I could vote against Brady for MVP, especially if he breaks the record.

Any other season, Favre would get my vote with the numbers he's putting up, but if Brady stays on pace then I think he's a lock.

Favre for Comeback POY though.

Just looked this dude up, he's second on his team in tackles...pretty impressive for a rookie CB.

Their leader is another rookie, David Harris, who wasn't even a starter until Vilma went out. He's having a year like DeMeco Ryans did last season.

yea, alot of Rookies/other players are having a season like this.....seems like all they needed was a shot to prove themselves to everyone that they can get the job done.....kinda sounds like what Troy Smith can do for this team given better and more ample opportunitites

alot of tackles for a corner, for the most part, is a bad thing. Usually means they get beat alot.

how about J.R. Reed for comeback player of the year? i mean no one wanted to roll the dice on this guy and because of secondary injuries he has stepped in and done an admirable job for the eagles. anyone see the lick he put on randy moss! he didn't catch another pass after that.
