Power Rankings

8 posts in this topic

Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk has the Ravens as top of the league as far as his power rankings go.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/01/week-12-power-rankings/

"8. Baltimore Ravens (6-5) (Last week: 10). If Ray Rice got 30 touches per game, he'd be an MVP candidate."

That is at 6-5, ahead of three 7-4 teams. Normally I don't care, but it's nice to get some recognition.

...and once again ESPN doesnt make ANY SENSE. We beat the Steelers head-to-head. We are in 2nd place above them despite having the same EXACT record. Yet they are still one spot ahead of us in the power rankings??? And as unusual as it is, thats really the ONLY gripe I have with the espn rankings this week, everything else seems to be spot on.

The Steelers did just take us into overtime in Baltimore using their 3rd string QB.

Power rankings are a waste anyway... just gives the columnists something else to argue about.

I agree. Some thought has to go into it or else why not just look up the standings if you want power rankings. I still say Pittsburg is the better team than us even though we won. Only a win in Pittsburg in a few weeks will change my mind.

So you are basically in agreement with many steeler fans that despite the W-L column we actually lost this game b/c a 3rd string NFL qb took us into OT? Lets look at the entire season, specifically the losses. We both got swept by the bengals so thats a draw. the other 3 losses.
Ravens - Vikings, Colts, Patriots (28-5)
Steelers - Chiefs, Bears, Ravens (13-20)

Dont even utter the word injury because it makes NO difference in the NFL, there are no handicaps.

And as far as just looking at the Standings, thats not always the case either. Case in point, Titans. They are crazy HOT right now despite their record. Another thing is the bengals could probably be ranked below all the 7-4 teams right now, save for the Broncos.

this isn't Espn's power rankings, this is NBC's power Rankings. Mike Florio is a writer for NBC's sports site, PFT (Pro Football Talk).
We are Ranked 4 slots ahead of the Burgh, and the only 6 and 4 team to be listed above any 7 and 3 team. That's the main reason I even posted this. It's good to see some of the sports writers giving the Ravens some love.
