If Rice Isnt Voted Into The Pro Bowl...

48 posts in this topic

I'm driving to Florida to protest. Over 1400 yards in a mere 11 games, second only to Chis Johnson. Easily made another point today, averaging an impressive 4.6 YPC against the best Rush Defense, which also allows the least YPC per game. I've been a fan of his since the Week 9 Cleveland game last year and hasnt disappointed since. I still cant figure out a weakness. Heart and soul of our Offense.

Ray Rice Running for the Ravens from Rutgers.

Ray Rice Receiving for the Ravens from Rutgers.

I still LOL at these two statements every time I watch NFL Network highlights.

We're not a big market team so It doesnt matter how many people see Ngata manbeasting on the Steelers line or Rice tearing up the field, our guys wont always get their dues.

Yeah, Chris Johnson is running away with it right now. :rimshot:

MJD has nearly as many total yards and is crushing Rice in # of TDs, thanks to McGahee. Even AP is significantly ahead of Rice right now.

It's hard to believe with how good Rice has been playing, but I doubt he'll get the nod if these trends continue.

Right now he is certainly the MVP of the Ravens though ...

I agree with the McGahee comment, but MJD is has over 100 yards less than Rice and Adrian Peterson is in the NFC, so Pro Bowl wise, he's irrelevant to Ray.

About AP, you are correct sir.

Still, right now MJD would certainly get the nod bc of many more TDs and because he has significantly more rushing yards and the pro bowl slots tend to prefer standouts at their traditional role versus dual role people.

The way I look at Ray Rice is like a video game character in comparison to MJD.

If you were to take off 5 strength points from MJD and place them into the receiving catagory in Ray Rice.

That's what you have.

Sorry to poop in everyones cereal, but as of right now Rice is not deserving of the pro-bowl.

He's rated the 5th RB in the AFC for yards ran, and 16th in the AFC for receiving yards- and receiving yards doesn't mean much when you're trying to go to the bowl as a running back.

He will get there, but he does not deserve the pro-bowl this year. There's significantly better backs out there in the AFC.

According to profootballfocus.com, which grades every player on every play based on the game film, Rice should be in the pro bowl.

How much does the fan vote count towards it? I think with people seeing what Rice can do on national TV - example, the 4th down play that led to the game-tying FG - will earn him a lot of fan votes.
And how many RBs can you vote for? I would say CJ and MJD are easily 1-2 right now. If theres a 3rd spot I dont see anyone that can leapfrog Rice with what he's doing right now. Only other AFC candidates are Ricky Williams and maybe Thomas Jones?

1/3 of the total voting.

And you can vote for three RBs.

You also have to consider Cedric Benson. And what he's helped accomplish in Cincinnati.

Benson being out a few games may hurt him in making the Pro Bowl. I like CJ, Rice, and MJD myself.
I agree. That's the sad point for Benson. If he played in all the games. He'd be almost a shoe-in.

Benson's injury is gonna keep him out of the pro-bowl. hes already missed 2 full games and is probably gonna end up seeing light duty in the next week, maybe two, especially considering how well LJ did for them.

Such as? And you cant be serious. Players such as Brian Westbrook and Marshall Faulk were both voted into Pro Bowls while compiling under 1000 Rushing Yards, because of their Receiving Yards. They are equally as relevant.

Try to think of top AFC running backs that are better then Rice this season.
Chris Johnson
Cedric Benson
MJD
Thomas Jones

Is Rice better then at least 2 of them?

Rice definitely deserves to go to the Pro Bowl. As well as Chris Johnson and MJD have played this year, you could easily make the case that Ray has meant more to the Ravens than any of those guys to their teams.

Chris Johnson is a lock, and could very well win MVP honors, although I think Peyton Manning could swipe another one.
