Still Not Happy With The Win...

34 posts in this topic

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we won in OT but I'm concerned about the fact that we played a college QB and couldn't sack him once and he only had one interception, ok it was the game winner but still. There's something lacking with the Ravens. I don't know what it is but I just felt like, although it was a huge win, something wasn't right. Maybe I'm just paranoid lol, but we are missing something. The defense seemed a bit weak and the offense, well, besides Rice awesome playing, there was definitely room for improvement.

I'd like to know what you guys think? I feel this team needs more but I don't know of what?

Thats because you've still got high expectations. Throw the expectations away and you'll enjoy this win for what it is, a hard fought win vs. the most hated team in Baltimore.

The only reason you'd be concerned about not getting sacks is if you still believed we are a playoff caliber team. We are not going to the playoffs, would love to be proved wrong but I am confident in that.

While we were surprisingly inconsistent against the run and just as inconsistent against the pass rush, you have to respect the continuity of willingness to overcome because of the circumstances. Many teams would have fallen apart morally and made further mistakes to take the game out of hands reach. Instead, we pulled together and finally avoided blowing a late lead.

I think everyone was expecting a huge win over Pitt. and it was, regardless of the score. Dixon did not look bad and man is he fast out of the pocket. Its hard to scak speedy scramblers. Dont take the fact that we had 0 sacks too heavily

I think that not having Sizz has impacted our pass rush more than we care to admit. But yeah seriously...the win may not have been pretty and the guys still made some stupid mistakes...

but for cryin out loud we beat the STEELERS tonight....in a great, smashmouth game that had my heart in my throat through most of it.

I'm happy about the win, disappointed with some mistakes and poor decisions.

I don't know how much stock you can really put into how you perform in rivalry games though, as far as the specifics. The familiarity factor is just so big.

You have to take it one week at a time, and this week we won, so I'm damn happy, especially considering the opponent. A W is a W and I don't care how we got it. Time to look forward to beating Green Bay next week.

"Was it perfect?" "No." "Was it pretty?" "No." "No, but it was us!"

I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

A win is a win in the NFL, ask the steelers last year when we first met. I do agree though there is something missing. I would think with Suggs in there we might have had a sack or two.

just so you know, and if people start harassing you about the win...

at the end of the day there are no asterisks (*) by the W-L column... doesn't matter if you win by 1 or 100

that said

whenever the steelers and ravens play it is ALWAYS a great game... their D is still something fierce even with their missing pieces

A classic quote from last season, I could not think of a better quote than that after a win like this.

I know a win is a win but I think I've yet to get past Rex Ryan schemes that made awesome plays and put the D to the top. I love defense first and foremost. Honestly, I prefer a low scoring game than a 48-40 blowout. Maybe the fact that Flacco started up the season on fire didn't help either. He looked like he was unstoppable. But since the Pats game, I haven't been the same. We don't drive it home like we used to. The CBs have been just awful and some players just seems lost out there. It's just that I didn't feel like that last year at the same time. It seems the D can't get a good grip like they used to...

But I think Neepo13 said it best. I'm expecting too much. I actually feel bad for Mason because it's his last year and he won't get a ring. And he's a very underrated WR. I think I was expecting a SB contender right out of the gate and now with 6 games left to play, I have to realize we just don't have the team to be at the big dance. We were just so close last year... But I guess you guys are right. Thank God I'm not a coach lol, players would be pissed at me because I would expect the best every time.

it sure wasn't in the fashion we would have liked to have won given the fact that they were short key players...BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS, and ill surely take it. I just hope the O turns it up a few notches next week!?!!!

I'm not entirely surprised that we didn't sack Dixon. I mean the guy is known as a mobile quarterback for a reason (if he wasn't then he wouldn't have ran around our D...which btw really pissed me off). Besides, we had very little film on the guy and it's hard to game plan for such unpredictability.

You're right though, I'm worried if our D will remain as strong against elite QBs as it did against Manning and Palmer. Rodgers should be a good test, and might help get our pass rush back on track considering how badly he's getting beaten these days. Him and Ben are the only 2 good quarterbacks left for us to face, and they should give a good idea of where we stand.

Me and you have alot in common b/c I feel about the same as you. With that being said, I feel we can make a 07 Giants run this year. That Giant team looked god awful in the beginning of the season and barely made it into the playoffs based off other teams losing and you know the rest of that story. Its bitter sweet but you learn more about yourself through losing and losing in the regular season is always better than losing in the playoffs obviously b/c you live to fight another day and you improve in areas that you know you lack in and the coaches know the limitations about all the players. We are definitely battle tested as based off this year we have had one of the hardest schedules in the league ( not basing it off of the beginning of the season strength of schedule ). This team has showed that it can go blow for blow with the best of em and all we need is to learn how to lland the last blow in Rd 12 and I think with each week we are learning that. I do feel that Coaching will either make us or break us, I have not been pleased with the coaching the past 6 weeks!

Dixon might have been playing his first game in the NFL, but the guy is good, he was good in college and he will be good in the NFL.
We beat the Steelers, no matter the score and no matter who was playing. The Steelers can whine all thay want and play the injury card. We are as injured, Flacco was injured, our hightest paid LB was out and our starting CB is done for the season. So what
They diddnt whine when they beat us last year when we was by far more injured. They diddnt care if we started a rookie QB, and had a rookie HC, they beat us and loved it.
PAYBACK feels good. I am pumped we won.

I swear some people just can't be pleased. We beat PITTSBURGH, enjoy it. BTW Dennis Dixon looked great last night. Also, funny how last season we had our rookie QB starting against Pittsburgh, and lost in OT. This season Pittsburgh starts their rookie QB against us, and they lost in OT.

Just be glad we got the win last night.. Now we have a decent shot of making the playoffs. If we can beat Green Bay, I like our chances.. If we can actually make the playoffs with all the players and staff we lost, I think we did a great job.

just be proud folks!!! was a great game and was very hard to win. what a fight!!!
but let´s keep both feet on the ground please. we have a hard shedule till the end of the season and it can be over next week. just plan game to game and not talkin about playoffs or superbowl. even it was a win against the steelers it was just 1 win!!! we still have to do that 5 times again. i don´t think we should talk like ben and rogers are the only two quarterbacks we will face in this 5 weeks. that´s the perfect way to loose those games!! you have to stay focused!!!!
let´s celebrate this win and get back to work soon because there is a big one coming up next sunday!!!!

How bad do you think the Steelers felt when Flacco nearly won the game in their house last year soo early in the season? Probably not too bad, they WON! Joe was a 3rd stringer too, but had a LOT less time in the system and nearly took it to the Steelers!.

Exactly. And besides, they had Tyler Freakin' Palko! He's elite in Pittsburgh!!!

Would I have liked to see a 28-7 type win? Sure. Am I happy with a 20-17 OT win that puts us 2nd in the division and in the driver's seat for the playoffs? You bet I am.

Listen, do you think the Steelers fans went back crying last year after they beat us in OT with a rookie QB starting for us? Not a chance, and that was Flacco's 3rd start. Let's just chill with all the negativity, we beat the defending super bowl champs and our biggest rival. Enjoy it, and get ready for the tundra on MNF.

A win is a win.

I look at it this way- we came out without any major injuries, no interceptions, defense held up well and we won. What more do you want? A blow out? A win is a win.

The lack of sacks was dissapointing, but I'll take the win.

I pray to god Suggs makes his return on Monday Night.
