Hats Off To Dixon

22 posts in this topic

Steeler fans shouldn't be disappointed. They know their backup can play pretty solid and he did when he had to. It was a closer game than I would've like to have had but it was a hard fought game on both sides.

His preparation for this game speaks to the quality of Pittsburgh coaching staff in getting him ready. People can say that it was the Ravens defense that made him look good, but a lot of the plays he made were because of things Dixon himself did.

Hats off to him. I know Steeler fans have a strong dislike for Arians but he did a great job managing Dixon tonight. Kind of how Cam did Flacco last year. Pick his shots carefully and play to his strength. I was surprised he didnt try to scramble more, he only ran on designed QB runs. Shows great poise.

This reminds me of why he was a Heisman candidate before he blew out his knee. He certainly didn't look like a first-start third-stringer for most of the game.

I know what you mean. If we don't convert that, I would have lost 10 years myself!

Dixon played really well. He didn't have any problems 'til we switched to zone coverage. He handled the blitz quite well. He's certainly a more than capable back up, could develop into a quality starter.

This game reminded me a lot of our MNF game last year. The ending was just the other way around. Dixon did play great like Flacco did last year.

I actually like the guy after the game, he really showed some gut and the fact that he honored his mother who passed away was memorable

I got to hand it PFT, they sure know how to stir the pot.

"Steelers eventually will have a tough decision to make on Dixon

What if the goal is to groom Dixon to take over for Ben Roethlisberger? Coach Mike Tomlin likely won't be leaving before Ben's career ends...

... It's not all that ridiculous to consider the possibility that Tomlin might at least toy with the notion of ultimately picking Dixon over Roethsliberger.

Tomlin drafted Dixon; he inherited Roethlisberger. Already, the tailback Tomlin picked in 2008 -- Rashard Mendenhall -- has supplanted Willie Parker, one of the stars of Super Bowl XL.

Whether Tomlin intended to do it or not, the manner in which the decision to not start Roethlisberger was handled will cause some of the players in the locker room to ponder the possibility, too. And it will make some of them more willing to accept the change, if/when it comes.

Heck, some of them might want it to happen right now."

I think Dixon looked pretty good, I also think the Ravens made some adjustments in the second half since they had first half film.

A belated congrats to all Ravens friends and fans. It was a victory well deserved and one long overdue against the Steelers. Best of all, it was a victory earned on the playing field, as it always should be.

As far as Dixon, he turned out to surprise everybody, probably himself the most.
