Does The Doghouse Really Exist?

21 posts in this topic

Ok, we have heard all about the "grassy knoll" and we have heard all about "Area 51," but up til now, they have never really existed.

So what we are hearing about now is the "Harbaugh DOGHOUSE?" All Ravens deny it's existence and everyone in the clubhouse is singing "kumbajah,,, right after a chrus of we are the world." So, here are the questions:

1. Does it actually exist?

2. Who holds the keys? Harbaugh, Mattison or Cam?

3. Is it an effective "accountability tool for in-house discipline?"

4. Or is it just a great big condo, that this "short-talented" team can't really afford the lease? You be the judge?

Im gonna go with a no.. a player may in some way shape or form not be playing up to expectations in practice or a previous game and if so why threaten the team by putting him in. But i think good coaches are fair and put the best players on the field regardless, obviously i think Harbaugh is a good coach.

oh really? so why is it that webb can play the #1 corner spot when washington was hurt but carr start over him in the nickle position harbaugh has pride issues. he need to put carr in the doghouse or cut him and why sign LJ smith and not play him. Get Lo Neal back so we can run the ball like last year.

"Doghouse" - see or ask
Demitrius Williams
Chris Mcalister
Matt Stover
Antwan Barnes
LJ Smith

Personally Harbaugh has his favorites, and all pride aside the doghouse is a waste of time, and talent. We let go 2 key players that were Ravens since basically the beginning of their pro career, and arguably would be a huge part of our team mentally, if not just physically. C-mac would help our CB's with experience and then some. D-Will almost looked like a go to guy whenever the rock would come his way, but still he sits when Clayton looks bad? The doghouse had gotten in the way in our team's expense. Ultimately, Bmore's Doghouse = Harbaugh's pride...

Very true, we have 2 receivers over 6ft and neither of them get adequate playing time. Whats going on there? Its amazing that D Will come into the game almost never but still manages to record a reception, while Mark Clayton records less than 5 in a whole game against Indy. Now I am not throwing Clayton under the bus but I dont think hes built to play on the outside against good CBs. He would murder in the slot but theres another coaching blunder.....how many times have we used a more than 2 receiver set?

I say not on the level that people think. Any player who isnt practicing hard or giving his all shouldnt play until he shows he has what it takes and proves it to the other men on the team.

Listen folks, a player good enough to start and make a difference will be starting and playing more no matter the circumstances. A coach wants to win not prove a point. Dwill has had his chances and has never shown anything great. We arent at practice, so we dont see what all the coaches see day to day.

Yes you may sit a player a games for an infraction, but if that player is good enough he wont be sitting every game.

p.s. matt stover was never in the "doghouse" they made a decision to break ties. They had to make that decision at some point, and they decided it was now.

The so-so players are in the "doghouse" for two reasons, they dont put the effort into the practices, and they arent that good.

well the simple answer is experience. Not many coaches or teams will start a 3rd round rookie when you have a player with multiple years of experience in the NFL and against oppossing offenses in Carr. Its not like the little we saw of Webb in games at CB we were saying he was the next Deion. Put yourself in his shoes, who would you start in a game when alot is on the line a rookie corner with potential or a corner with 4 years of NFL experience coming off a pretty good last season

I cannot blame Harbaugh with that decision. As much as id love to see Webb out there too as i think he could prove something to me and the team, id feel more confident with Carr if I were the coach.

In weeks 1-4 sure, give Carr the benefit of the doubt coming onto a team with new personel, schemes, and coaching...

But at this point, he has shown me no reason why our coaches shouldn't be taking that risk with Webb as a starter. You and the coaches can't possibly still feel confident throwing Carr in there....

If were basing it on NFL experience, which part of me agrees with, I'd MUCH rather see Walker in over Carr. At least he's got the attitude and heart. He can tackle and press too.

Ask any past player how important chemistry is to a team, that's player/player and player/coach. Now, Do you work equally and like equally well everyone in your work place/past work? If so you are a rare person. We all have favorites coach or not. And we usually work better with people we like. Argument from the other side is .He is a professional and should be able to look past it. Yes true but again we are human and emotions play a HUGE part in our decision process whether we like to admit it or not.
That said I do think Harbaugh has made some mistakes but as for the lack of a solid WR or CB crew I have to raise an eyebrow towards Ozzie's corner. That's right I said it the man has been the Wizard of Oz for most of his GM career but I think in this instance he dropped the ball in the off-season. Everybody is allowed an off year lets just not make it a habit Oz :) Never loose faith in the Oz it will get fixed just not this season.

?Doghouse? -Every coach has a doghouse and a penthouse
Demitrius Williams (personally don't think he is good enough to start for most NFL teams)
Chris Mcalister (Had lost something not sure what ,confidence/speed/injury)Was getting burned deep ALLOT.Signed anywhere yet?
Matt Stover (Was more a moving to the future thing which blew up in our face)Not signed till injury replacement and will be released as soon as Vini. is healthy
Antwan Barnes (Not consistent enough Yet looks lost in open space)
LJ Smith (Insurance Te not a great blocker but serviceable, past injury concerns keeps his reps down)
Hope I did not make anyone mad if a dumped on a favorite player.

What is this high school football? Your here to win no matter what! and you play your best players no matter what. Fans pay to see the team win and the best payers play. If your a nfl coach you put your differences aside for the better of the team, you dont cut/sit good players because of your damn pride!
