Ray Lewis Injury During Colts Game

30 posts in this topic

I know everyone else noticed Ray Lewis got hurt during the game and looked slow on several plays including that Addai TD in which it was just him and Ray in the hole. Anyone else think he should take it easy on a few plays if he is still hurt? I know Ray Lewis is a warrior and you could prob never convince him to come out of the game but do you guys think he was a liability on some of those plays?

He can take it easy AFTER we play the Steelers IMO.

I agree. The Ravens NEED Ray. If he isn't out there, the ILBs would be Ellerbe and Gooden, neither of which has completely locked up the job for different reasons. Ray is a liability in pass coverage but I don't see anyone else on the team that is much better than him in pass coverage.

Wouldn't playing through the pain make the injury worse?

Depends on the injury. Players play through the pain all year.

That's true...

Certain injuries probably get tougher to play with as the season wears on though. Hopefully, Ray just rolled his ankle.

Rays obviously not as good as he once was in coverage but hes not a liability yet. Theres other MLBs far worse in coverage than Ray. He can still keep up with 90% of the HBs in the league, heck he caught Sproles out of the backfield for a loss in Week 2. Ray's ankle obviously was bothering him and maybe it hurt the middle of the field for our defense on a couple plays, but like someone else said putting McClain and Gooden in the middle would have most likely achieved the same results. I thought Ray was running around alot better in the 2nd half than he was towards the end of the 2nd quarter. Not only the improvement in his mobility in the 2nd half but you would have to tie him down before he comes out of a game, hes from the old breed.

According to Profootballfocus.com Ray has been playing pretty well this year.

Players miss tackles sometimes, it happens. Jon Beason missed a bunch last Thursday and one of them was right up the guy on Ricky William's 45 yard TD run to ice the game.

He nullified the Addai TD by forcing a fumble on the 1 yard line which saved a TD. So it is a wash.

I listened to Harb's interview on NFL Radio and he said besides the Fabian ACL there were no injury issues on the team. Just minor bumps and soreness.

Well I certainly Hope thats the case. We cant afford to now have Ray Lewis in the Pitt game....even if we are playing their 3rd string QB

LMAO. I was gonna say something similar to that but.... He should be fine. If it was bad, he wouldn't have stayed in.

I actually really like the breakdown on that site and it gives you a different way to look at players. If you look at the rest of our defensive players Gregg is an animal against the run, but its depressing how inconsistent Ngata has been this year, according to their stats him and Bannan have played comparably. Foxworth is rated in the top 10 for corners in the entire league at #8, which I think we would all find surprising. However their analysis also finds that Washington is basically one of the worst starting CBs in the entire league. Teams have a 118 QB rating throwing his way lol.

I like that site too. A lot of times people categorize a player and say he is not playing well or isn't good at something but that site can really tell what is happening beneath the surface. Apparently, Ray is still "pretty" good....

That site is pretty cool.

I had never taken a close look at the corners and you're right I am surprised by Foxworth. Maybe I should stop calling him Foxworthless.

I thought for sure Fabs was the best on our team. :o

Lol Chris Carr is number 70... out of 106. -_- That's alot better than I thought.

Yeah, Ray's doing all right according to that site, whodda thunk it?

Lol, Hauschka is the 45th "best" kicker.

Flacco is still better than Matt Ryan. :D

Yes, Ray is doing very well. Many times we concentrate on ONLY the players on our favorite team and analyze every single one of their plays under a microscope and fail to see that players on other teams are making many mistakes too.

Like I said in a previous post, I saw Beason miss 3-4 tackles just like the one Ray missed on Addai. One of Beason's misses was on Rickey William's 45 yard TD run to ice the game. Also, Patrick Willis has whiffed many times this season as well. It doesn't make any of these players bad, it just shows that they are human. It might actually be a complement to Ray that people are making a big deal by this play!
