Technique Is The Key

5 posts in this topic

we havent been winning the battles up front on D and i think thats the reason why our corners sometimes are left out there with there heads chopped off. we need to win those 1 on 1 battles this next game if we want to be playoff contenders hands down. if we cant then look at a long day in baltimore. honestly i think our OLBs,suggs, would rather not have there hands touching the ground. they have more of a running start when they rush standing up and it closes the pocket faster when you see the OTs dropping back to protect the QB on pass plays. played football before and i always liked standing because you have more momentum and you can see where the offence is lined up. Agree????

Suggs isn't playing this week - just making sure you knew that. As for the 3-point stance (guys with their hands on the ground) are you referring to going back to a 3-4 base d with 2 OLB's to rush? We all have been crying for the 3-4 base D to make a return so if that's what you mean I'm pretty sure we all agree. We do really need to get more pressure on the QB especially this Sunday vs Manning. Last game was a good start against a weak Browns squad. Here's to hoping we can keep it up against an elite Colts unit.

standing up may make you quicker, but a 3-point stance gives you more leverage. Depends on the technique the situation requires.

How a 3-4 is SUPPOSE to work is that the guys up front occupy the OL while the LBs go flying in with momentum.
