The Giants resigned Molina for one year at 4.5 million. Molina turned down an offer from the Mets at 5.5 million because he felt more comfortable with the Giants.

Early buzz coming over the wire from the AP is that Miggys has signed a one year deal (no money available at this time) pending him passing a physical. The story ,though not being comfirmed by Andy Macphail, is from a "team official fimiliar with the deal, speaking on the condition of anonymity." Several comments I've read from the AP story attributed to Macphail seem to confirm this but he won't go on record as of this post. The plan would be for Miggy to take over at third, while Garret Atkins will move over to first. Roll out the Orange carpet Baltimore, it would seem Miggy's back. In my opinion a great pick up for the O's, quality player, great work ethic, and the club house presense a young team could definately benefit from. Welcome back Miggy!

in case your not familiar with the O's thread i posted this over there(just letting you know just in case) and its a 6 mil deal with 1 mil in incentives also, not trying to sound snippy tho this is how it reads lol

Oakland A's sign pitcher Ben Sheets to a one year $10 Mil. contract. To FlaccoFlicker, thanks for the info, I never take your posts the wrong way, but totally find them very informative. Thanks for the tip, I think I just got a case of "Miggy fever", stuff like that just seems to happen to me as the years go by (sigh). Much respect!

The Yankees signed outfielder Randy Winn to a one-year deal worth about $2 million.

Thanks for a great effort last season, Randy, and good luck in the future!

St.Paul Pioneer Press:Twins agreed with DH-1B Jim Thome(564 career homeruns) on a 1-year contract
[/quote]

I think this was a good move by Minnesota. Thome will probably hit around 25 homers.

Former Oriole third baseman Melvin Mora and the Colorado Rockies have agreed on a 1 year, $1.3 Mil. contract, according to his agent and first reported by Fox Sports.com. Also the Reds signed SS Orlando Cabrera to a 1 year deal no money disclosed yet, and the A's signed OF Gabe Gross, 1 year-$750,000 contract after acquiring CF Willy Taveras from Cincy in a four player deal that also sent IF Aaron Miles to the Reds. Taveras was subsequently designated for assignment, whew! If I got any of this wrong feel free to correct me it got kinda confusing!

Frank Thomas has announced his retirement

Big Hurt is one of my all-time favs. I just wish the man could have stayed healthy! Heck he was comeback player of the year TWICE IIRC. I'll miss him.

I totally agree with you and he is one of the best players ecspecially being part of the steroid era.He has never been brought into that mix and I believe he has stayed clean, along with Griffey Jr.(I hope).521 lifetime homers non juiced...thanks Big Hurt, the White Sox are retiring his number also

The Nats and former Yankee Chien-Ming Wang have agreed on a 1 year-$2 Mil. contract with incentives that could bump it up to as much as $3 Mil. Thoughts on the "Big Hurt" pure all around hitter who did it the right way, class act!
