INDIANAPOLIS - The three-way blockbuster that will send Curtis Granderson from the Tigers to the Yankees is on the verge of completion, major league sources said early Tuesday afternoon.

An exchange of medical records will be required to finalize the biggest transaction so far this off-season, a deal in which the Tigers will part with two All-Stars — Granderson and starting pitcher Edwin Jackson — in an effort to build a more cost-effective club.

The proposed exchange of players is as follows, according to sources:

- The Yankees receive Granderson from the Tigers.

- The Diamondbacks receive Jackson from the Tigers and right-hander Ian Kennedy from the Yankees.

- The Tigers receive center fielder Austin Jackson and left-hander Phil Coke from the Yankees; and right-hander Max Scherzer and left-hander Daniel Schlereth from the Diamondbacks.

Yeah, just read about that... why are the Tigers so stupid? How can you ship off your All-Star CF to an already loaded Yankees' team who just won the World Series???? Man, they're incompetent.

I dont get baseball. "Let's trade for the future by trading our most important piece of the future." No sense at all. That's why I stick to football

MAybe Kanye can explain it to you.... :batteur-musicien:

Detroit was CRUSHED by the economy, little revenue at the ballpark that was nearly empty. It was a good move for the Tigers, cut payroll and give Granderson a chance to win. The Tigers WILL be making more cuts.

Roy Halladay is in Philadelphia and may be a Phillie soon, according to major-league sources.

A three-team blockbuster that would send Halladay to the Phillies and Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee to another club is under discussion, sources say.

A straight trade between the Phillies and Jays also is possible. Either way, there are strong indications that the Halladay talks are approaching a critical juncture.

The only reasons for the Blue Jays right-hander to be in Philly would be to negotiate a contract extension, take a physical or both. One source said that — as of shortly after 3 p.m. Monday — the commissioner's office had not yet granted the Phillies permission to discuss an extension with Halladay. Judging by that, it would appear that an agreement is not imminent today.

The identity of the team that would acquire Lee is not known, but the possibilities would include the Angels, who could be on the verge of losing free-agent right-hander John Lackey to the Red Sox, and the Mariners.

Halladay likely would agree to a contract extension with the Phillies to waive his no-trade clause. The Phillies would acquire prospects for Lee to help satisfy the Blue Jays' demands for Halladay, and also send prospects of their own to the Jays.

Lee, signed for one more year at $9 million, will be a free agent after next season. The Phillies are uncertain of whether they can sign him, but by acquiring Halladay — and locking him up with an extension — they would secure an ace long-term.

The trade is highly complex, sources say, with the Phillies receiving money from the Jays to help pay Halladay's salary next season. Halladay is owed $15.75 million, but that number could be negotiated down as part of a new contract agreement.

One source with knowledge of the Mariners' plans said Jack Zduriencik is looking for two starting pitchers — not just one — and that the team has contemplated dealing for Lee in recent days.

Seattle officials would prefer to have Felix Hernandez as their No. 1 starter, followed by the two new pitchers, then Ryan Rowland-Smith at No. 4 and Ian Snell at No. 5. Brandon Morrow, who has value in the rotation or bullpen, could be the No. 3 starter if he is not traded.

First of all, I think the Phillies are incredibly stupid for trading Cliff Lee. He kept you in the freaking World Series this year!!! I just don't understand it...sure they are getting another good pitcher but I know if I was a Phillies fan I would be extremely mad about that.

Also the Orioles lost Dave Johnson's son (the pitcher) to the Giants.

Yeah, they let Cliff Lee go and got Roy Halladay... not much of a downgrade. If anything, it was an upgrade.

He'll be missed. Not only was he an incredible player in his own right, but he raised the bar for everyone around him.

Good luck, Big Unit, and thank you.

The Rangers have been making some moves this offseason.

I wouldn't mind the O's signing Delgado for 1 year w/option.

I would like Miggy back. He still has a few years left in him. His last 2 years with Houston, he did pretty good. I think he went to two All Star games with the Astros.

Miggys power has been down ( steriods producing the bigger number years). I'm really wondering what we have in plans for Reimold? First base, DH???? I'm interested to how he comes back from the achilles?

Although his power numbers have been down, he still continues to get hits. Last season he had 14 homers, 199 hits, 46 doubles, 86 rbi, and a .313 average.

I think Miggy has 1 or 2 more productive seasons in him. I think he could help us out this year. I think it would be a good idea.

I believe he had successful surgery on his Achilles tendon and is rehabbing... he should be ready for Spring Training.

The Brewers signed FA pitcher Doug Davis for one year and an option for 2011, no money disclosed yet. Still alot of pretty big names out there considering how close it's getting to camps opening. Defenatly looking like a sellers market. It's gotta be tough on Miggy who could still help a club, .313 BA & 86 RBI's and no takers? It does seem that according to ESPN's Tim Kurkjin most teams would prefer him at thirdbase, the O's were mentioned as a team that might be interested.
