Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On February 15, 2006, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Cundiff to a contract but released him after kicker Matt Bryant was re-signed.
Green Bay Packers

Cundiff signed with the Green Bay Packers on March 28, 2006 and was expected to compete with Dave Rayner for the starting kicking position before being cut by Green Bay on August 17, 2006.
New Orleans Saints

On November 22, 2006, the New Orleans Saints signed Cundiff as a kickoff specialist, easing the workload of John Carney.
Atlanta Falcons

After being released by the Saints, Cundiff signed with the Atlanta Falcons on May 4, 2007, but was released at the end of the preseason after losing the starting job to Matt Prater.
Kansas City Chiefs

In January 2008, Cundiff was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs to a two-year contract. He was released prior to the regular season.
Detroit Lions

Cundiff was signed by the Detroit Lions on August 26, 2009 after an injury to placekicker Jason Hanson. He was cut on September 5, 2009.
Cleveland Browns

Cundiff was signed by the Cleveland Browns on September 26, 2009 after an injury to placekicker Phil Dawson.4 Cundiff beat out Matt Bryant and Matt Stover in a workout with the Browns.4 In week 5 of the 2009 NFL Season, Cundiff hit the game-winning field goal to help the Browns beat the Buffalo Bills, 6-3. He was waived on November 3, 2009.

He spent a few years with the Cowboys before they tossed him away. From what I can remember, he was pretty inconsistant and suffered from the same "pressure" issues that Hauschka suffers from.

I just hope that his years of experience can shine through until Stover is released from Indy.

The fact that teams have continually signed him, shows that he at least has some level of ability to at least stay a journeyman (which 70% of kickers are.)

The fact that he keeps getting cut is a bit alarming, though, until you notice that he's mostly been an injury fill-in for most of his stops. That alone tells me that he should know just how precious this opportunity is, since each one before it wasn't guaranteed in the least bit. We know he's afraid to fail -- that could both be a blessing and a curse.

wow, talk about being bounced around...goes to show how rare guys like stover are. and how stupid we were for not keeping him here.

Haruki was placed on IR, so I guess that is the spot the second signing is gonna take. I would assume it is a safety or cb. Zibby is our only backup safety right now but Webb could play as well.

That game winner in Buffalo was on a windy day too. That's a positive!
Yeah, but I think it was like an 18 yard FG. Wind can't have that much effect on a kick that short. I like that you are positive though :)

While I never agreed with releasing Stover, no one else signed Stover until an injury popped up on their team. He'd be back with the Ravens had Vinatieri not injured himself.

Regardless, Cundiff is just a replacement until the Colts release Stover anyway. Once that happens, I would assume Matt comes back.

Right now he seems a better option than Haush. We need to trot him out there and see what he's got. Can't wait to play with the new toy!

I thought they were going to sing Nugent. I guess Cundiff was better.

But apparently Haushcka was better than our original kicker? What was that guys names...? j/k

If we're lucky, though, we'll be seeing a lot more of him on extra points than field goals, especially this Sunday. ;)

I wish your post said "geat offensively" instead of "lucky". Because luck is what we'll need. And delete the "If".

I don't think anyone in the organization really though Haushcka was better than Stover. They simply didn't want to use two roster spots on kickers and also felt that Haushcka could be on the team for a long time. I never agreed with their decision but I'm just trying to be fair.

And plus, the coaches had no way of knowing Haushcka would implode the way he did. There are only so many ways you can simulate "crunch-time" kicks in practice and Haushcka made all of his kicks in those situations.

Cundiff is the Browns leading scorer this season!
That is sorta funny but wasn't Stover our leading scorer once or twice? I guess the funny part of that is he only played a few games for them before being cut.

Yeah that's why it's amusing! He was just an injury replacement while Dawson was out (who happens to be their 2nd highest scorer).

Are we being punk'd? Looks like Haushka is kicking for us with a different name.

You can't fool me Ozzie; There is no way there are 2 NFL kickers who look exactly like a 12 year old singer in a boy band.

Same. Did anyone else notice the little wiggle Hauschka's kick had at it's highest point? Weird....
