kudos to you, this is a pretty cool idea

some crazy news already... Jaron fired, star players injured, Bowe suspended, LJ signs in Cinci, former fan-favorite in Baltimore signs elsewhere, and we're still without a kicker

I want to put the spotlight on one special team: the Cleveland Browns

By now we all probably know that the Browns have lost 14 of their past 15 games. We also know that they have scored just 5 touchdowns during that period.

What you may not know is that we might be witnessing the worst offense in the Live Ball Era (1978-present).

The current record holders are 1992 Seattle Seahawks who scored an average of 8.8 points per game. In a day when scoring is at its highest, the Cleveland Browns are scoring an abysmal 8.7 ppg.

Just for fun, here's the Browns scoring history over the last 15 games:

Passing touchdowns – 3
Rushing touchdowns – 2
Special-teams touchdowns – 2
Defensive touchdowns – 1
Field goals – 18
Extra points – 7
Receiving touchdowns by receivers – 0
Running touchdowns by runners – 0
Offensive touchdowns of more than 1 yard long – 1

Browns quarterback, Brady Quinn has thrown three touchdowns in his three year career.

The Browns are also last in the league in yards per play with 3.7 ypp, but there is some good news. The 1978 San Francisco Fourty-Niners averaged 3.8 ypp and they played in the Super Bowl the following year. So there is still hope.

Didn't realize the Browns are that bad offensively. Consider the fact that they have one of the best kick returners in the game, and often get good field position because of him. yikes.....

Micheal Turner probably won't play either. I went out and picked up Jason Snelling in my fantasy league. (hint, hint!)

Cedric Benson is OUT for this weeks game against the Raiders. LJ looks to get the call. Let's see how bad he wants to remain an NFL player. Got him for League minimum so if he fizzles we cut him. No real loss. Keith Rivers also out on Defense. But since the Raiders have no offense I don't see this as a worry either.

You forgot Derek Anderson. ^_^

As far as the Browns offense it is abysmal and terrible to watch. They're ten times worse than the offense we put on the field when we returned in '99 and '00.

I'm all about giving people a fair chance and Mangini has not had a ton to work with but I think after this year he needs to go. I truly believe he has just lost the team and they won't take anything he says seriously.

Perhaps this time around we'll hire someone with experience when it comes to a head coach, GM, president, etc..

Worse than the expansion year? Ouch.

After the Mangenius is fired and the Browns start rebuilding again, is there anyone on the team not named Cribbs or Rodgers that you want to stay?

As hard as it is to believe statistically we are worse than the expansion year on offense. It's been pretty bad for about a full year now because really this downfall on offense began around this time last season.

I think there's some pretty good talent on the team aside from Cribbs and Rogers; players like Harrison (RB) will get more time once Jamal is gone and Jennings (3rd string RB) showed some promise last Monday night.

The biggest weaknesses we have right now are three; linebackers, wide receivers and the right side of our OL. The left side of our OL is great but St. Clair is a bum and playing very poorly. Our linebackers really overall aren't great except for glimpses of brilliance from Wimbley. As far as our WR core they are bad and we need to seriously overhaul what is there.

My theory on this season was that I knew we'd be bad, I accepted it and didn't see us winning more than 4 games. What I do not like is a team that just seems to show zero effort and that's what we've been most of the season. The game this past Monday night was our 2nd best game of the year effort and overall playing wise. It sucks but a loss like this past Monday night is acceptable; a loss like the 34-3 one from earlier isn't.

Ricky Williams was sick last night. I knew he was a good pickup in my one league where he was a FA, but DAMN, didnt expect that.

It's pretty stellar considering the fact he's been playing second fiddle to Ronnie Brown.

Ricky is one durable 32 year old. He looked like 25 out there last night.

Hehehe. The one I am really worried about is Chris Henry. A break like that and surgery will have him on pain killers for some time. I hope someone in the organization is babysitting our little jailbird. One more substance abuse issue and he is history. And oh what a waste of talent that would be.

Joseph is questionable for the game too. That has me a bit worried. The Bengals D this year is pretty much built on the pass rush and our corners.
