Basketball Team

30 posts in this topic

Right now we have a baseball team, and a football team. I would love to have an NBA team in MD. There are 2 teams who are currently rumored to be traded. Although I know I know we have no chance at getting those teams.

What do you guys think about having an NBA team here?

I used to attend Bullet games at the downtown Civic Center, before they moved out to Landover. Then I switched to the Blast. After awhile, downtown at night became too dangerous, plus January/February cold nights, so I stopped attending altogether.

I would attend NBA or NHL games if a downtown arena were properly designed, i.e. if I could drive to underground parking which would empty directly into the arena. I don't think that a properly sized and located arena will ever get built in Baltimore to attract NBA or NHL, so I'll have to be content to attend college basketball games (Terps, Retrievers, Middies) or just spend the rest of the winter watching old Ravens game tapes.

you should very well have an NBA team. one thing i must say is that all your teams have a very strong and supportive fan base and i love it! i have no doubt that if an NBA franchise was moved to b-more people would come in herds to watch. but just like the ravens, i think you would have to have your own name and colors and not adopt another team's name and just throw baltimore in front of it.

I'm a huge NBA fan, but I can never find a team that i want to support. If there was a team in Baltimore I'm sure that would be my team.

I root for the Wizards because they're relatively close, I like the players, and the guy who got me to finally watch the NBA is a Wizards fan too.

But yeah, I've wondered why Baltimore doesn't have a team myself.

Other cities teams seems to be the formula there however.

i think it'd be pretty awesome too, and having a Team in each of the sports categories...Football, baseball...then (hopefully) basketball....might be just enough to drive me to actually watch some games that are played....

I dunno man, I enjoy NBA ball and if Baltimore had a team I'd rock it hardcore. Basketball is my #1 sport to play and watch (Terps > Ravens, sorry guys). I was a freshman at College Park when the Terps were National Champions, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyways, the only team I know of that wants to move is Seattle, which has Chris Wilcox (former Terp on the National Championship team) SOOOOOO I'd be all for the Sonics coming to Bmore.

My brother was a freshman at Maryland then as well. I got there the next year, when we had nothing...figures.

Sorry we stole all the magic from you guys. In hindsight, Drew Nicholas, Taj Holden and Ryan "Sleepy" Randle were pretty good.

On a related note, I finally get to start Shaun Hill in my fantasy team! In the championship game, nonetheless!

lol "stole all the magic" :P

Yeah, that's pretty much what they did. And they allowed FSU to walk all over them at home too. I left early (since I'm a disgrace of a fan) to finish watching the game on tv where it was dry. Of course, they had to wait till they were really bad again to beat FS-WHO?

The Hornets are rumored to change location. But the location is Oklahoma. I wouldn't mind seeing the Hornets come here though.

I used to like the Hornets, solely because they have the coolest mascot/logo ever.

Raise your hand if you wouldn't be intimidated by a giant sneakered hornet with a basketball. Thought so.

Most def. Also, weren't they pretty monster in NBA Jam Tournament Edition?

But if B-more gets a basketball team, the mascot NEEDS to be the Natty Boh guy. Nothing says Baltimore and basketball like a dapper white guy with a monacle & mustache.
