McBoller

Is This Guy For Real?

You gotta read at least some of this bogus article. I mean, he even talks about a mathematical way of determining whether it was better to punt or not and is convinced that Faulk actually had the first down.

Faulk did have the first down to me. Ive seen the video 1000 times and every time he bobbles it but it's still good for a first down. If same play happened vs Ravens, it would have definitely been undisputedly a first down.

no way its a first. Forward progress doesnt start until possession is gained. Bottom line is the play couldnt be challenged bc they had no timeouts, and you cant blame the side judge for that spot. No, he couldnt see the ball, but he could see the juggling and had no choice but to spot it where he came down. Plus, I dont believe he was touched when initially caught the ball so his momentum bringing him back toward the los and away from the first down wouldnt count towards forward progress until touched.

He gained possession of that ball at least still a yard/yard and a half past the sticks. No question it was a first down.

sorry to bring up an old topic but I have to agree with Mcboller. I dont think the bobbling was an issue. I have no problem saying he had full possession a yard past the sticks. The problem is that since he was coming back towards the line of scrimmage and wasnt touched untl he hit the ground then the ball was spotted correctly. Had he been going forward where he caught the ball and was pushed back behind the 1st down marker he would have gotten credit for forward progress from the spot of the initial catch. But since his own momentum was carrying him behind the 1st down marker the ball was correctly spotted pretty much where he was touched down by contact.

Belichicks decision to go for it against the Colts will be the ultimate reason for their downfall in the playoffs....that is what we will be hearing from some of the so called analysts if the Patsies lose.
