Unfortunately, the kid has GREAT accuracy. His problem is mental. That's a lot tougher to deal with. I wish him all the best to get another gig in the NFL. He's got the skillz, he just needs to work out his jitters/choke/panic/(insert yours here) syndrome.

I'll miss him. He was an easy target for parody. Now I'm gonna have to start thinking again. :argh:
I think that left hash got in his head and the kicking game is part mental and part physical.

What about ex Bucs kicker Matt Bryant
That would be interesting. I can't believe the Bucs let him go. Anyway I say this, Ozzie and Co buy out the remainder of Gano's deal bring him in from Las Vegas and have him practice all week and be ready to go on Sunday. Just think Ravens bring back Gano and Gano kicks a game winning FG against the Colts.

I can dream this scenario up right? :dancingbanana:

What We Need To Do Is sign Billy Cndiff He's 6 For 6 On The Yr and can Make Close Kicks between 20-40...lol
And On top Of That he's A Verteran kicker he's been Under Pressure And Know's How to Kick Plus His Long On the Yr is About 31 and it dead center right There..Mike Nugent On The Other Hand Is 2 For 6 On The yr And His Long was 37....His stat's Look Decent But if we Go With Anybody Let's go with Cundiff

I used to hate seeing him run on and off the field, because he always looked like he had some poor rodent stuck up his butt or something. This kid was ANYTHING BUT "a football player."

I Wish him well in the "Metro-Sexual European Version of the MISL."

I think he had promise, but he did not belong on a playoff potential team

Hauschka needed time to grow and learn, which takes time and actual game time experience

I like the idea of bringing in Matt Bryant, but if not I'd take Nugent
I would take me right now kicking, at least we would know that my FG attempts are more than likely going to be misses. Then if I was to make one, that would be the reason for all of the shock!

Goodbye and good riddance, Harbs and Ozzie should be kicking each other for the rest of the season over the Hauschka debockle

This needs to be on youtube.

I was sixteen rows up... SIXTEEN ...I know someone on the Ravens bench had to hear me say, "Put me in coach! I can kick!" ... Ah well, maybe next year.

Billy Cundiff or Nugent?

Hopefully Chris Carr is next! and Yeah, his Int was a gimme, that took no skill!

Anyways, I am so glad Harbs wised up. I think they are waiting for Matt Stover to be cut from the colts....sike, but that would be tite
agreed

idk if he really wised up... its been like 7 weeks now that he's shown he wouldn't make it.... he never had the mental aspect of the game down.... just saying

http://www.baltimoreravens.com/News/Articles/2009/11/Ravens_Release_Hauschka.aspx

Wow, I did not expect this to happen so fast! I wonder who our kicker will be for Sunday against the Colts because we will likely need him.
Hhhhmmmm..........could have been Stover if only Steve screwed up earlier! Thanks a lot Steve!!! lol

We already tried out 2 Kickers last week in case Steve continued to kick wide left and here are our top candidates:

K Mike Nugent: Height: 5-10 Weight: 190 Age: 27 College: Ohio ST Exp: 5th season http://www.nfl.com/players/mikenugent/profile?id=NUG461506

K Billy Cundiff: Height: 6-1 Weight: 207 Age: 29 College: Drake Exp: 5th season http://www.nfl.com/players/billycundiff/profile?id=CUN046143

We are supposed to make a decision as early as tomorrow morning. Nugent might be in the lead hitting 6 for 6 at his tryout. Nugent might have more upside, but Cundiff is believed to be more reliably in shorter chipshots. I might be leaning towards Cundiff because he's gone 6 for 6 in FGs and 4 for 4 in PATs. Nugent lost his job because he went 2 for 6 FG and 6 for 6 PATs. In his first game he was 0 for 2 and in his last game he was 2 for 4. He is also known for missing PATs in the past That's pretty poor. Maybe we should tryout Gano again before we decide. I heard he's lighting it up in the UFL. http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=3929582

I think our Coaching staff did a real poor job of evaluating this guy to be our starting kicker.

Haushka's problem is that he just can't handle the pressure. Incase nobody has noticed, he has only missed in situations where the game is close (last night it was tied) or in other key moments such as the miss against Cincy that would have cut the Bengals lead to 7 and most likely shifted a little momentum our way late in the 4th. Everybody knows what happened in Minnesota as well. Last night's game was a prime example. The game is tied, the offense is having trouble moving the ball, and he misses a 36 yarder. Later when the Ravens had the lead and it was pretty obvious that Cleveland's offense just wasn't going to score he drills a 45 yarder perfectly down the middle.

Was it a good move to let Stover go? At first, yes. I think the plan should have been to free up the roster spot, let both young kickers get the offseason and training camp to prove their worth, and if neither were reliable they get cut and Stover returns. However, it took Haushka costing us one game, and ruining our chances of a comeback in another for anything to be done. If I have one criticizm of Harbaugh so far, it's his indecision to bench, cut or replace players that aren't performing.

To late in the season to pick up anyone that's going to be any better. All we have are the garbage kickers no one else would take up to this point to choose from. Should of released him at the end of the year... not now.

I still think we should go back to our draftee, Gano. I dont thing this will happen though due to the fact that we need a kicker with some kicks under his belt NOW.

Gano: (UFL)
9/11 Long: 53 XP:13/13

Hauschka:
9/13 Long: 44 XP: 27/28

Stover:
6/6 Long: 40 XP: 13/13

Stover in 2008
27/33 Long: 47 XP: 41/41

I personally think Gano will be the better kick EVENTUALLY. But what do I know? I'm just a fan.

Stover IMO was still the best man for the job until someone beat him out. I don't know what the staff was thinking here.

I having nothing against Hauschka personally, but his wayward kicking was killing us. Bring in Mike Nugent, he's experienced.
OMG, Mike Nugent

2009 - 2/6 Long: 33 XP: 6/6

He's worse than Hauschka. It takes work to get cut by the Buc's these days.
