Colts Fan Coming In For The Game

7 posts in this topic

Hey all. Colts fan here really looking forward to the game this weekend, it should be a great one.

I recently moved to Rhode Island and am planning on driving down to Baltimore this weekend for the game. It seems as if it should only be around 5-6 hours.

Anyone have some weekend and/or gameday advice for someone's first trip to Baltimore? I'm planning on coming in Saturday and finding a hotel near the stadium and then just walking over early on gameday.

I'm sure I'll get harrassed pretty well at the game but that's part of the fun.

Thanks!

Hey! I am actually in the same boat and was going to post something similar.

This is my first Colts game in Baltimore even though I lived in DC for 2 years.

People have been telling me crazy things about fans in and outside of the stadium, but I will be there with my Colts gear and supporting my tea, (respectfully of course).

We're actually trying to set up a Colts tailgate/bar hop before the game (read: strength in numbers). I'll be staying at a hotel too and walking over, where are you staying?

Not sure yet on where I'm staying. I just got the whim last night to drive down. Didn't realize it was only 5 hours. Nor do I have a ticket yet :) Working on both of those. I'd love to meet up at tailgates also.

Scroll through the main Ravens web-ite, this forum, and the "questions" forum to find many discussions of interest to visitors to our stadium. Here are some:

As to weekend advice:

Federal Hill
Fells Point
Little Italy
Greektown
Inner Harbor
Sports Legends Museum
Ft. McHenry

Google is your friend - search these and plan several hours at each location.

Also: please don't provoke Ravens fans with "Mayflower" banners or similar provocative items-- there were some nasty incidents a few years ago involving fans of the Indianapolis team, obviously forgetting that we had the Baltimore Colts as our home team for many decades. You should find the vast majority of Ravens fans to be hospitable: however alcohol does flow in the tailgate lots and it doesn't take much to spark acrimony.

Skiba72 & econoar - We're planning a Colts tailgate party from another site, you're more than welcome to join! I think so far we've got about 30 people. Send me a PM on here if you want the details.

My wife and I have a place up in the Cape Cod area so we know this drive well.

I dont know if you have made this drive before but,6 hours sounds about right. Tolls will be a killer.
We normally take 81 through New York to steer clear of the NYC traffic. Getting closer to here there is one quick on / off off of 95 near Maryland & Delaware that will add 5 to seven mineuts but save you $3.50
I am going to have to get back to you on that one. I know the route by sight and not by memory.

Enjoy your stay in our city :)
