[QUOTE]ESPN's Michael Smith reporting that Larry Johnson is en route to Cincinnati, and barring a breakdown, is expected to sign with Bengals.

If this is true, the Bengals have gotten even more dangerous, despite Johnson being on the backend of his career. Adding another adequate back has Cincinnati geared for a good stretch to end the season, and possibly a decent run in the postseason. This signing was likely insurance in response to Cedric Benson's hip injury suffered this past Sunday.

Philly has been too up-and-down, IMO. Cincy gives him the best chance to win, even though the AFC North is a more physical division. Philly's play-calling has gotten away from the run increasingly, while Cincy is more balanced. Additionally, Philly has had a propensity for giving games away for the past couple of years.

Exactly, if I was a Free Agent RB I wouldn't want to go to Philadelphia... they don't run the ball at all, and when they do it's just because they figure they have to run at least once a game.

Who wouldn't want a guy who get's 2.9 yards per carry? At least he's going to bring alot of character to an already exemplary team like Cincy...

Johnson and that Rookie, Scott, will be a nice 1-2 punch until Benson gets back... once he does, they will have a very formidable 3-headed monster as well.

More like a 2.5-headed monster; Larry Johnson's not half the RB he used to be. He and Scott together, though, will do just fine in replicating Cedric Benson's production in his absence.

I saw this coming as soon as benson went down. He's a VERY similar back to benson, albeit a few years older. Cincy will definitely be bringing another "bad boy" to town. They better hope he gets his act together.

From everything we hear in Cincy, Benson's injury was very minor and he will be in the starting lineup next week. My opinion they should give him a couple games rest. Scott and LJ if he is signed can carry the load in games that should not pose any difficulty for the Bengals. Cedric has been the workhorse for a lot of snaps and you can not simply keep pounding him without giving him some help.

According to PFT (I know) the LJ has signed with the Bengals.

It's official. Larry Johnson will become the latest football player with a troubled past to continue his career wearing a helmet that looks like a pumpkin that served as a machete sharpener.

Per a league source, the deal is done.

Bengals are reporting that LJ will practice tomorrow and will likely be a big part of the gameplan on Sunday. Perhaps someone finally knocked Mike Brown in the head and he got some sense about him. Give Cedric a rest for awhile. The next three games "should" be fairly easy. But then I have banged my head against the wall after losing a "should Be" game. :34853_brickwall:

Guarantee LJ will be a good back again.
