The Table Has Been Set.

33 posts in this topic

The table has been set for us now by the Bengal's who are undefeated in the AFC North as they sweep the steelers along with the Raven's. Now we as a team have to come together in all phases and win some games. We need to focus on each up coming game a play as if there is no tomorrow and take no prisioner's from here on out, starting on Monday night vs the Brown's. We must win!

If Polamalu is out for an extended period of time again after tweaking his knee in today's game, that makes the going a little bit easier for the Sunday Night Football game against the Steelers.

The Steelers are 2-2 without Polamalu this season (3-3, if you count games where he's played partially before getting injured.) The Steelers defense is still as nasty as ever, but at least without Polamalu patrolling centerfield, that's one less obstacle.

Not only that but it means, screens, Heap, and Washington will have more success than if Polamalu was playing. 2% success compared to 10-15% is still more lol.

Here are the issues i see though bengals did a huge favor for us..

1) The defense is still our major concern.

Honestly our defense didn't play well except the game against Broncos ( I am not counting the games against Browns and Chiefs).

2) Can we sweep the Steelers as the Bengals did ? I have lot of confidence in our offense. We will score at least 20 points. Can we stop Wallace and Mendenhall ??

Go Ravnes.

The only game i wouldnt be mad about losing is the colts. After the whoopings they have put on us the past 3 games i just hope its not a blowout. Other than that i think we have every right to be in every game left on our schedule.

I sure hope we can beat the Colts. I have this thing with a girl at my school when the Ravens play the Colts where if the Colts win, I where her Colts jersey and if the Ravens win(hasnt happened yet) she has to where on of my Ravens jerseys. Frankly, I'm sick of wearin that Colts jersey!

And whats up with the Ravens playin the Colts EVERY YEAR??!!
Weve played them in the regular season in 04, 05 , 07, 08, and 09. The only year we werent scheduled to play them in the regular season in 06, we played in the playoffs!

Doesnt look like we will be playing them next year but we will probably meet in the playoffs!

I hope that isn't the case...cause the Colts kind of own us in this rivalry. Maybe Flacco can ask Harbaugh's brother how he beat them?

Exactly! I say we beat the Colts, Beat the Steelers once....we should be on the right track. I think if we lose to the Colts, the little bit of pride & confidence we have will got out tha window! and we'll have no momentum before playin the steelers. We need these next two reeeally bad in my opinion.

I have to agree there.

We NEED to stand up to the Colts.

I have said this about several other team's too...but this is pretty much it for 2009.

Don't forget about our other monday night game, in Green bay in December. I'm not all the scared of the team, but it's in Green bay at night in December.

i have a feeling not only do we have to win tonight and sweep the steelers i think we are going to have to win the rest of our games to make the playoffs. if we win the rest of our games and the steelers and bengals start to slid we can still win the divison.

Naw, look at the records in the league. Alot of teams thats good sitting at 4-5 and we beat the Chargers and Broncos so which ever team doesnt win that division and it comes down to the tie breaker, we get in. Now, AFC East is sort of who I'm worried about b/c they have 3 teams that possibly can make the playoffs as we do in our division. The Jets look like they falling off a little bit and Miami is playing pretty good but I say the Pats win that division with either the Jets or Dolphins getting a wildcard spot. Im not worried about the AFC South b/c I just see the Colts being the only team that make it to the playoffs out of that division! Texans is a possibility! The scenario you have doesnt have to happen for us to make it, especially the " We have to win the rest of our games part and sweep the Steelers". Sweeping the Steelers would help alot but we dont have to do that to make it!
I dont see the dolphins or the Jets getting in. The Jets are losing the types of games they are "supposed" to win and the dolphins have no legit passing game. Looks like the AFC south is gonna be deep once again. It'll probably come down to Ravens, Steelers, Jags, TExans, and Broncos for the wild cards. I really think the Broncos are going down FAST, so that leaves two other teams for us to compete with and we only play one of them, so we better sweep the squealers.

Don't be so sure about the Steelers. If you have watched their losses, anyone who gets continuous pressure on Rottenburger will rattle him and he will throw picks and overthrows all day long. Send Ray Ray to give him a message on the first series! Good luck tonight with the Browns and Good luck sweeping the Steelers. I know the Ravens are a better team than them and in reality pretty evenly matched with the Bengals. We were just fortunate enough to get a few breaks and win two squeakers with you guys. Long season yet. Thanks for the love though!

Thanks for that bit of positivity, but our defense can't put pressure on anyone, and if anyone is over rated it's probably the team who has 3/4 wins from the AFC West.

You seem like a classy fan though. Welcome to the boards.

To be honest the Bengals have earned respect around here. The first game we considered it a fluke, but flukes dont come in two's. I still feel if we meet ya'll in the playoffs we win. The reason is simple, if we make the playoffs its because we went back to a 3-4. Palmer wont have 5 sec to find a open man

This is true. Winning this game will do nothing for our teams psyche, we are supposed to win this game. Now losing this game could do a lot to the psyche of the Raven's in a negative manner. This is the NFL and on any given Sunday, Monday or Thursday you can win or lose no matter who you are playing. Let's hope our team is up to win. It is almost game time!

Let's see: we can't stop the run, we definitely cannot stop the pass, our offense starts slow (and being behind Manning is not a good plan), and our run game isn't what it used to be. Yes, I know, there are fluke games like Browns over Giants last year, but short of an Indy meltdown, we aren't going to win that game.

Not to mention the difficulty level of beating a division rival three times in one season. But it will be a good game if it happens. These last minute wins by our cardiac cats is killing my blood preassure levels :gaah:

Why does every one say this?

Teams that win two games against their divisional rivals are 12-7 in the postseason and 5-1 in the championship round. It is rare to face a divisional opponent three times in one season, but history shows that it isn't hard for a two time winner to finish the sweep.

I guess we should just mail it in and get ready for the Steelers then. With the way some of you guys are talking you'd think we were the Browns. I agree the odds are not in our favor but I am not writing it as a loss until we actually lose. In 07 the unbeaten Pats came into Baltimore and everybody expected us to get blown out. I believe Meshawn Johnson was even quoted as saying it wouldnt even be close. I could be wrong but I think our guys are going to give everything they've got next week and I think we will walk away with a win. Book it.

Lol, after this game, I'm getting ready for the Packers. XD

I admire your optimism, but I wrote this game off as loss during the offseason; back when many of us thought the sky was the limit for this team. I don't think that we are the Browns, but I never had any confidence whatsover that we would beat the Colts or sweep the Steelers, and I'm not changing my opinion unless we actually do the impossible.

I think that if our guys give everything they've got and if the Colts bring their A game, we might possibly keep it close, but I'm not even expecting that. We flat out suck when we play Indy.

In 07, we played them after the heartbreaking loss to NE the week before. The team had pretty much mailed it in. Last year we played them on the road coming off back to back heartbreaking losses with a rookie QB who was star struck. Blame it on the purple ko0laid but this is our year.
