I was born the year the Colts skipped town. It took 12 years of my life before we were able to have another team. I'll never get those years back.

I was taught of How the Colts Left us in the Dust and everything...i was brought up a Colts "hater" i guess you could say (competitive wise, on that type of level..not LITERALLY, but Competitive) and therefore i have come to the understanding that Colts will and forever will be..."traitors"....backstabbers who left with no warning what so ever at all. and on top of that...they left in the middle of the night.....the audacity of it all and for them to do such a thing and to a town of whome LOVES its football and its team.......i have been taught to NEVER foregive them for Sneaky, cheating thing they did to us. and so....i will do so.

whos with me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!!?!?!?!

that's where i feel a bit different about the ravens. i was able to move on....probably in part because the gap was only 3 years. but, being a life-long browns fan, it was a long 3 years. believe me there. the main reason my animosity towards the ravens is fading is because Arthur B Modell is no longer majority owner of the team.

i see what your saying....the less People that are on this team or a part of this organization as a whole. that were a member of this team/organization when they left Cleveland, are (for the most part of it) no longer there. so you hold a little "less" of a grudge. right?

Not only did the Titans keep the Oilers history, but their owner refused to let the new Houston franchise to call itself "Oilers" or use the colors. He's a real class act.

In a perfect world, Irsay would have renamed the Colts and left the records in Baltimore. Maybe we wouldn't have gotten a team back until 96 either way, but at least we'd have the Colts back. I know this is probably a minority opinion, but "Ravens" just doesn't seem right. I'd much rather have the old name...but not after it has been sullied by 20+ years in Indy.

i agree baltimore colts does sound better than ravens.......but.......we all know an Irsay will never do the right thing.....

Yeah I feel your pain. Personally, when the Ravens & Browns play and the announcers bring up the relocation, I slouch a little bit in my seat. As a person who had their team stolen I wouldn't wish that feeling upon any other city (except Pittsburgh and maybe NE). At least things worked out in the end.

That being said, while I like being the Baltimore Ravens, I feel if we were the Baltimore Colts it might sound just a little better. Also, we might win some turncoats back who became Redskins fans post move.

if they turn to the skins....maybe they don't deserve to be fans of your team.... i know when the browns moved....i still hated the steelers. i know some turn-coats that turned to the steelers and got baptized in iron city beer......i wanted to punch them lol

i agree, you should always stick with you team, no matter who or what some one or anybody else says.....you have a duty to support your team and not go with the "crowd" because sooner or later, your team will have good seasons and what not and then people will starting "jumping the Tracks" yet again back to your team. Follwo your own personal Ambition and dont listen to what other people say or listen to what the "Crowd" says....

i agree completely. i started watching the browns in 1985..i was 8. at that time, i took an oath to never root for the steelers or bengals unless it benefited the browns in a playoff race....even when the browns were gone for 3 years, i still hated the steelers......i could never bring myself to root for them...unless they played the ravens in 96, 97, and 98 lol

You should always stick with your own team and not listen to what other people say, or what the "Crowd" says about the team and/or its players....you like a certain team then Cheer for them and support them through all th good time AS WELL AS the bad/hard times and hard seasons. Sooner or later it'll pay off and all those other people will be looking to hop on the band wagon.....this is how i am with The Ravens, i feel as though i have a Duty to Serve as a LOYAL fan and not just one fan who comes on board because they Won the superbowl or did well for a few seasons and whatever else...and with that duty, comes responsibility to Cheer for them through it all, the Good and the bad, through the Critics and all the talk about how they're "not a good team"......i mean because if your a TRUE fan...you'd take great offense to that...like i am, no matter what the how bad they are playing at this particular point in time....and i take offense to when "Fans" or other people come on here and start talking bad about a certain player or playersor the Team overall in General.....a Fan is a Fan meaning, they are an individual of whom does not critisize the team and/or its players or COACHES, Supports them in the bad times and supports them through the Good Times. Through it all, im always a Raven Fan and will continue to be as Loyal and non-trash talking about our team as i am now. I Love my Ravens. as everyone else on here will hopefully Agree...well the Raven Fans at least lol :)

luckily you added that part in.......i was about to say.......i don't agree with loving your ravens lol :P

i have to disagree on 1 point.......criticizm is not being a bad fan. part of being a good fan is to recognize where the team/coach is doing something wrong and knowing what can be done to fix it. like my browns........they are playing well this season, but the defense is horrible. romeo's playcalling is atrocious and needs to change. that just makes me a fan seeing what is wrong with my team.

yea i can agree with you on that point of it because you have to recognize what your doing wrong, go in and try to correct it the issue or the problem. but that doesnt at at mean that you continually bring our Team/our players down week in and week out...and this is all i've been seeing, as Post Topics and in many people's posts in reply to the topic... in which i strongly dis-agree with...you should LOVE and support your team through it all. and never EVER single out any one player or individual. which i have seen countless times on here with "Fire BILLICK!" and those kinds of posts. not right if you ask me my own oppinion. lol "astrocious and needs to change" yea i can see where people are saying there needs to be a change with the Play-Calling. BUT along with that, everyone is singling out Billick and saying HE's the reason for the season's failure thus far......in which i say "not all of it is his fault"....the players have to step up and assume the role of Leaders on both sides of the ball.....there should not just be 1 leader on offense and defense. but 11 leaders on both sides of the football. each more than willing to help the team out and do more than their share to help this team out.

case in point...this week's browns game.....yeah, Billick had poor clock management, but the defense also dropped the ball twice.....and we're lucky to have the best kick returner probably in the last 10 years....Cribbs always comes up huge for us. without him we might be 3-7 or 2-8. he is that big.

EDIT: how did this topic go from franchises history to team loyalty to discussing the past game? lol

lol i honestly have no idea....but back on the the Topic of Loyalty.....a True Fan sticks with his or her team through the Bad times as well as the good times, there will surely be both, no team..absolutely none in this league...can ever say that they have never gone through a "losing" season..(more losses than wins and whatever else fans and other people define it as)...th True Fans of This team and the other teams in this league must stick together (as i have said numerous times before).and not bash our own team players. its Dis-respectful of the team and to the player/players, its insane to do such a thing, its shows that You are not a True fan in doing so, it shows you show a Lack of confidence in your team's ability to get it done on the field...and other factors here all contribute to this "Bashing" and demoralizing a player or players and their team by their OWN fans.

luckily there is no room for bandwagon jumpers when it comes to the browns.....we only had 1 winning season since we got the team, yet, we sold out every game since 1999. there is still a waiting list for season tickets.

hmmm lol that shows you something...or maybe its just the opposing teams "fans" trying to rub it in or something idk...

that's unreal tho.......the last game blacked out here was the last game in 1995 before the browns moved to baltimore. and still........before then....the browns averaged 60,000 people per game for a 3-13 season in 1990. so we are loyal in cleveland....sure, we critcize our team when they play bad, but we always have and always will support them.

that brings me to a side-point. Modell said he moved the team because he was losing money.....yet, he attracted big crowds all the time(usually 60,000 or more). he owned the concessions(browns fans buy a lot of expensive beer). he owned the parking for the stadium(that is a lot of cash for the number of fans that attended the games). if somebody is losing money with that kinda support....maybe they need to learn to manage their money a lil better lol

art modell mis-guided you guys.....we have our history with the browns because we fought for it...not because modell is a nice guy. art was forced to leave our history behind. we filed a class-action lawsuit against him.as far as the others....i think the colts should have left the name/history in baltimore as with the rams in LA....but the raiders belong in oakland....that is where they started.

I agree on the Rams aspect only because they moved so far away and they didn't have a national following. The one thing that annoys me as a SoCal Native is a St.Louis Rams fan acting like he's always supported the Rams and yet he/she doesn't acknowledge/know how Georgia treated the Anaheim area in order to get the team to move to St.L.

but i still think that No matter how "loyal" a person SAYS they are.......noone should ever every single out any one player/players or the whole team just because they are having a bad season....its just part of the game....believe me, the Patriots may be good right now but in a few years or so..they will be back at the bottom of the pile, as everyone else and not regarded as this "god-like" team....just another oridnary team trying to win games...thats it.

the reason was cleveland brown stadium, he wanted improvements and/or a new stadium. Cleveland at the time built a new arena for the cavs, the indians got a new baseball stadium, and then they built the rock and rock hall of fame, the whole time modell asking for some hlep with a new stadium for the browns, and the city ignored him and you saw what happened. The browns stadium was huge 80,000 i think but old and lacking modern amenities (went there twice, nice troughs!)

that's what he wants you to believe. modell said go ahead and build their stuff.......then when he said renovate or im leaving, we held a special election and overwhelmingly voted in favor of stadium rennovations....he moved anyway.

we voted for 150 million in rennovations....after he moved and we found out we were getting a new team in 1999, we decided to scrap the 150 in rennovations and voted to pay 300 million for a new stadium

How did the Colts get their name? The people of Baltimore, that's how. Pimlico, the Preakness, etc...Irsay should have changed his team's name to the Race Cars or something that goes on in Indy.

On a side note...I know just about everything there is to know about the Baltimore Colts. For the playoff game, I wore a Johnny Unitas jersey that I often wear with my purple, black, and gold Ravens hat. At first I thought, don't wear a Unitas jersey. Wear a Ravens jersey and support THEM. Then I thought, Hell no! I'll wear that jersey with pride. It's mine. I also bought the Colts: The Complete History DVD. I watched the Baltimore Colts DVD several thousand times and through the INDY DVD into a bonfire. I have the pics if anyone wants to see them.

Tom Callahan's Johnny U. It has a lot about small details from the Colts' days in Baltimore.

agreed

you all noticed that when the Colts left Baltimore...Unitas didnt follow...he stayed in the good city of Baltimore and stuck with the Ravens....that tells you something about the man. he was true to his city and fans.

It was great seeing him at all of the games...hanging out with Chris Redman most of the time. Seeing that definately made for a big letdown when Redman didn't do much.

Definately. Unitas was all about the city of baltimore, not the business part of football and the colts having to relocate. Nope, he just loved the city and i respected him for that

Haha I couldn't agree more. What about The Indianapolis Most Kids Cant Find Us on Maps, and their mascot could be Carmen Sandiego.
