Lol, I figured this would happen, but it's still funny.

I wonder if he has twittered (or whatever) to Gay and Taylor yet.

I was just checking out his twittering and it doesn't look like it yet. He is going at it with JoeSteelerFan.

so if he got fined $20K for something he ALMOST did, what will he get fined fined for actually following through on one of these jokes????

Well I read the other day that the Bengals coach put a stop to him sending mustard to the Steelers, so he might get stuck with toning down his jokes.

I'll admit he can be a funny guy with his comments and antics but the whole $1 thing seemed a bit ridiculous. I am guessing the only reason he got fined was for using the word "bribe."

Im glad he is showing what a joke the rules are in this league. Oh we are going to fine a guy making 3mil a year 20k. Seriously I would just ignore all these rules as well, what would I care when 20k to an NFL player is pocket change.

My thing is, I'm a fan of Chad's antics, but this one was inappropriate given the public image of pro sports today.

Any signs of impropriety is something the league wants to avoid. Jokingly hinting at a bribe is the kind of bad press the league doesn't need; taking action against this type of stuff is the reason why the NFL is virtually bulletproof compared to the other pro sports leagues.

Mustard arrived in Pittsburgh after all. The return address was "Fans of Chad Ochocinco."

Yeah, you have a point and I can see that they don't want it to get out of hand, but it was still funny - or would have been if I wasn't so upset about the way the Ravens were playing. But I guess since $20,000 isn't that much to most football players, the fine wasn't that bad and made its point.

I dont get why people think fines are a joke to players. Maybe to some, but look at it this way. If hes making 3mil/year. Then a $20K fine to him is like a $400 fine to someone making $60K/year. How'd you like to be fined $400 for making a joke at the office????

I have to agree! Clearly Chad was influencing an NFL referee with $1. Any ref would go for that. Not like they are paid thousands a game so they need the dollar. League needs to worry about Actually punishing a head coach the records defensive signals against league rules instead of going after someone who only makes the league more entertaining. He is serious in his play but he is a showman as well and isn't the idea of selling the NFL product? Get a life Goodell! Or at least get l**** and relieve some of that tension.

Wait just a minute. Your telling me for a celebration Chad gets fined $30,000.... yet Brady Quinn only gets fined $10,000 for a cheap shot on Terrell Suggs which took Suggs out the last few games. For the league to promote player saftey by adding all these rules and fining players for cheap hits and fining a player an extra $20,000 for a celebration isn't promoting player saftey like they say. That don't make sense at all. If they wanted to keep up with the whole player saftey thing Quinn should have been fined at least $100,000 or $250,000. To me the $30,000 Chad got for a celebration and $10,000 Quinn got for a cheap shot and putting a player in danger is WRONG!

Justvgoes to show their agenda and the true meaning of NoFunLeague. They'd rather penalize chad bc goodell takes it as a personal effrontery. It's not that Quinn and others need to be fined half their salaries, it's that chad shouldn't be fined at all for some of the things he does, and other thing maybe $5k at most. He's not hurting anyone except goodell's pride

I'm pretty sure his fine amount is because this is a seriously repeat offense whereas it was Quinn's first. I get the impression it's become a game between OchoCinco and the league - who flinches first.

Agree, this is a super inflated fine because Chad has no regard for the Leagues rule on props/celebrations/penalties.

So he has already stated he a has a "horn" to blow after he scores a TD versus the vikings. is this gonna be an exponential thing? He's just gonna get fined more and more each time for innocent things. I think the next one is $50K
Face it Goodell, this is his biggest form of entertainment and he's got plenty of disposeable income to waste on these fines. You're gonna have to hit him for $500K to make an impact, and then you'll look like the dumb one.

Hows that saying go, "money is only temporary". He's building his legacy through great receiving and celebrations. I'd do it till I was broke,

:plus-un2:
Good point.

The dollar bill bribe was obviously a joke, but it WAS on the field, so I guess I can understand that. The sombrero incident was on the sidelines and if the cameras weren't following Ocho around trying to catch his antics, the league wouldn't even had known about it.

I think the fines get a bit ridiculous, but maybe I'd fine him $20,000 just because I don't get what a sombrero and poncho have to do with touchdowns...
