2010 Ravens Salary Cap Projection

7 posts in this topic

Ravens are likely better off if a new CBA is agreed upon and the Salary Cap returns......

Ozzie knew what he was doing signing Foxworth contract wise. If released he only counts 3 mil against the cap. However unlikely that it is Foxworth is released, it still bears thought that Ozzie knew enough to give himself some loopholes in case Foxworth played....this poorly.

I still believe that the uncapped year is the best thing for us. We get to dump dead weight without a penalty and we get extra time to work out long term contracts with some of our young valuable guys or more time to evaluate them as players. I've never been a big fan of going on a spending spree during free agency, so that arguement for the 2010 salary cap year doesnt appeal to me.

Forgot to mention that this was a great piece of information and it made clear sense of the options for next year (capped or uncapped).

Thanks

I hear ya, but they're going to have a lot of work to do - especially at WR, where they've only got 1 WR under contract for next year (Marcus Smith). As such, to get an immediate contributor, I think they will have to go to the FA market (or trade, I guess) because you can't expect a rookie WR - even a 1st round pick - to make that kind of impact.

I'd go with a capped season, considering a lot of our older players are going to retire this season (Gregg,Pryce,Mason) we need to lock up our key players (Gaither,Koch,McClain,Grubbs) and part ways with some other players (Carr,LJ Smith,McGahee).

I believe in the right system(Cam's system), a rookie WR can make an impact and there are certainly enough talented receivers coming next year. The team will likely re-sign Clayton and probably Kelley Washington too which will take the pressure off the rookie receiver they draft.

A FA receiver would be great but the cream of the crop are all likely to stay put.

I can't wait to see those guys get dumped.
