Living In A Black And Gold World

So it has long been said that one bad apple ruins the bunch. Well i have been that bad apple and i can not seem to ruin the bunch. The bunch i speak about are people that are around me everyday. My wife, my neighbor, my family. All Steeler fans. And i mean die-hard fans. Myself, the only ravens fan in the area. Everytime i think i see someone in Raven Purple, it ends up being a Vikings fan. Really in central PA a Vikings Fan? I feel like i have to keep it hidden when i go out in public. Just the other day i was at sheetz getting gas and had on my Ravens gloves, and someone behind me in a jeep all decked out in Steeler decals starts beeping at me and flipping me off pointing to his hat.(which was a 2009 Superbowl Champs hat) Is there anyone out there in Central PA like me? Or do i need to continue to hid my love for the ravens?

Such class *rolls eyes* My husband is from outside of the Cumberland Md and we have TORTURED when ever we go up there. When my MIL died in 2005, she was laid out in Hyndman PA, the funeral director was constantly talking crap. My youngest had a broken arm with a purple cast and the Ravens logo painted in the middle of it, people kept giving him dirty looks and someone actually did the bump thing--the kid was 9. My husband was in Cumberland for another funeral in the Spring and someone in Steeler garb threatened to flatten his tires, we have Raven tags on both of our vehicles :229031_cheer: I get flipped off all the time when we are at my parents place at the Lake. I'm not changing what I do because some are classless.

My cousin and her family live in the 'Burgh and it is never pleasant from her neighbors when we visit, but I feel it is on them.

I tell you what, I have two kids...... I woulda made a huge scene. I woulda kirked out if anyone touched my kid, let alone bump into them if they had a cast on. OOOHHHH! I hate them ignorant ones. I'm 6'2" 260, I wear my Purple and black everywhere up here in the land of black and gold. To the Sheetz pumpin gas, to the grocery store even to the bar. Not too many people mess with me

I live in york county and get the dirty looks all day. Never stops me from wearing my gear proudly. I have seen mothers showing their disdain for me in front of their young children, just for them to learn it at a young age. I get the evil eye wherever I go. Luckily most of my neighborhood is made up of Maryland transplants like myself, so its not so bad. Keep your head up man

I live in Lancaster, and 90% of the football fans around here are either Steeler or Eagle fans. There aren't too many Raven fans around here.......

I live in CUMBERLAND MARYLAND and wear my RAVENS STUFF PROUD, I live in a Steelers household and still wear my Ravens PROUD!!! I have never been threatened or had tires flattened. There are alot of Steelers fans here sure, but here recently I have been seeing more and more purple. Infact me and my friend are going to Ravens/Steelers game this Sunday in Pittsburgh so excited. Sure people talk crap, but thats just what it is crap! All in good fun, we rouse them, they rouse us. But no one takes it seriously.

I'm right there with ya, robb. Like I said in my profile, from personal experience Steelers fans in this area are the worst. I too get the evil eye all the time (and give back the look of disdain) but no that never stops me.

But the city is an odd mixture of football fans. We've got the ubiquitous Eagles and Steelers fans. There are Redskins, Cowboys fans, and even a contingent of Cheeseheads. But the strangest one I ever saw was the guy wearing a Lofa Tatupu jersey, whom I assume was a Seattle native, with the Space Needle tattoo on the back of his neck.

What is wrong with people? Two of my neighbors are Steelers fans- die hard, but they live in a neighborhood of die hard Raven's fans. No problems at all. We're all very friendly. One of my daycare parents are from Pittsburgh, we are a die hard Raven family, we're fine. My point is clearly Raven's fans are a better class of people. I'm shocked or maybe not so much so that someone (Steelers fans) would act that way. All I can say is I'm proud to be a Raven's fan. :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

I dont get whats up with all the GB fans. There is a bar in east york I go to when the game is not on tv and like 50 cheeseheads show up, and fill up the banquet room, and get it all to their selves.

I've noticed the same thing, where I live in Perry Hall we have several Steelers fans on the block, along with Charger fans, Pats fans and a few 49r fans.. everyone gets along just fine except when the Steeler fan neighbors have their Steeler fan friends over for any game.. they've yelled across the street a few times because every window of my house has a Raven head sticker on it during the season. But with 3 100+ plus pound doberman's roaming the yard, nobody ever bothers to come talk face to face with me about it. Oh well... they're all bark, no bite (the steelers fans that is)

Breezewood, PA here. First moved to Steeler Country back in 1998 and with no chance at grabbing local TV out of the air here and having to wait for cable to arrive, I proudly donned my Raven gear and headed to the local sports bar to watch the Ravens/Steelers game. I have to say that most were alright - some good natured ribbing back and forth. Since then however, I have hit those ignorant Steeler fans around the area. Just smile, and wear your Raven gear proudly. For pete's sake - Never Hide!!!!!

thundermudd--dont worry about it, proudly wear your purple. I myself just moved to Fla, my luck moved in next door to rabid steelers fan, and across street from giants/jets fan. So I pulled up in my black 5.0 w/my purple ragtop, and just had my new home painted ravens purple (w/black trim). IT IS BEING TOUTED AS THE NEW "FLORIDA KEYS" COLOR, BUT WE ALL KNOW ITS REALLY RAVENS COLOR. hope someone is organizing a trip for ravens fans only, to Miami to root on rayx2, ed, young Joe cool, and the rest of our guys in the all-birds (RAVENS vs Eagles,or possibly Cards) or all-purple (ravens vs Vik's) SUPERBOWL. EVEN IF WE CANT GET TICKETS TO GET IN, WE CAN AT LEAST TAILGATE!!!

Welcome!

And I'd much rather be surrounded by Saints fans than Steelers fans any day!

'Sides Marques Colston is a Harrisburg PA native :)

i live in CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA (2-3 hrs from Baltimore and D.C.) and the people here in my area...for some odd reason...love the Redskins! the Redskins! the sporting shops and department stores are full of thier stuff. they are always on tv in this area. smh! whenever i step into a place with my Ravens hat or Ray Lewis jersey on....people constantly stare as though i came from another planet! they aren't use to seeing the Ravens purple floating around in the land of that crimson red, gold and white.

however...once..i was in the food court at the mall (getting my chinese food) and i heard a guy say...."You need to burn that hat!" to my surprise....when i looked to see who said it....it was this cat that was wearing a steelers sweat shirt and a steelers hat that had ALL of the years that they won a Superbowl on it. of course i told him he needs to burn all of that crap he was wearing...lol!
