I questioned whether that was the same dude. Wow, could we really use him now? What if we had kept him and James Harrison (aka - the "Silverback")?

Yeah, I saw Aubrayo maul through a double team and nail a RB in the backfield the other day, guy's become very nice.

David Harris is good but a stretch as 2nd best inside LB.

Oher is a legit pick because every other team puts their premier tackle at LT. RT is usually a mauler with bad footwork like Orlando Brown or Phil Loadholt.

Oher is great and gets my vote for rookie of the year. However there is no way he should be an All-Pro. I don't know of any RT that could replace him on this list but c'mon the guy is a rookie.

Gaither being out really showed the all-pro potential in this kid. He doesn't miss a beat no matter where he is placed. He finishes plays. He protects. I like Oher in the draft, I questioned the drafting of a Tackle before we got him. But now it all make sense.

Maybe next year we can do the same with a CB. How nice it would be to hear that one of our CBs is a mid-term all-pro.

I'm such a bad draft advice giver.

I got mad when we drafted Oher, because I would much rather have a CB. But now that's changed, glad I wasn't the one in charge for the call :P

Uhh, faulty logic. . .?

Grubbs/Oher/Gaither are beyond legit.

Now if only Yanda could stay healthy. . .

No disrespect but maybe its you with the faulty logic. All Pro means the best player at his position in the entire NFL. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are All Pros and rightfully so. Gaither and Grubbs are legit but IMHO they aren't the best at their position but at least they are established veterans. If I can't justify either of those guys being All-Pro then I certainly can't justify giving a rookie that title.

Gaither isn't a Veteran...... Oher deserves any accolade he gets, the guy is a hard worker and really does an outstanding job, this validates the hard work for now. This is only a mid-season deal though, he isn't an All-Pro yet.

I wasn't saying that I disagree with you, just that your logic was faulty in that it is wrong to say that a player can't be All-Pro simply because they're a rookie.

I meant to say that you should list a player better than Oher, or else you're just assuming.

Sorry Dude, it is YOU with the faulty logic. Consider these examples:

Just because you are a NFL rookie, does not automatically disqualify you for All Pro Honors. Hey, give the kid credit, already.

Nice to see Oher getting this honor. He is one of the few positive additions from last years draft/free agency.

Well, I guess this kinda settles the question of which of the "bookend tackles" is the better player, Gaither or Oher, right?

Moss, Dickerson, AP, Taylor and Campbell were/are probable HOF players. AP was not only rookie of the year, he was the best RB in the NFL his rookie year.

Ravensfan160 is merely questioning whether Mike Oher is the best right tackle in the NFL, this season. He's been a great find, and has a stellar future - but the question is appropriate. Do we know that he'll be as good as Jon Ogden?

Just a thought...

Well, if you look at SI and all of their scouts and all of their staff and all of their resources and the fact that they are putting their journalistic credibility on the line and all that.

The fact that they just named him to their "mid term" All Pro team says that they believe that he IS the best right tackle in the league right now.

Do we have better evidence that Oher IS NOT? Considering all the SI resources?

No, any "evidence" is purely subjective, because there is little "measureable" evidence on the quality of Offensive Linemen - unlike, for example, QBs - and especially Right Tackles. Teams' best pass rushers usually rush the LTs, and the "best" OTs usually play LT.

I'm not criticizing or underestimating Oher. He's played great - but if I was picking the best RT this year, I'd more lean toward Jordan Gross or Michael Roos... but it's just an opinion, when picking OLinemen.

Like I said, the LTs - like Walter Jones, Flozell Adams, Chris Samuels, Joe Thomas, Matt Light, Jammal Brown and Jason Peters get more ink, so their performance is more documented, when facing the best pass rushers - so RT is more subjective.

BTW - I don't put a lot of stock in Peter King - he picked Jared Allen as the best Defensive Player in the NFL. Allen has 10.5 sacks, but 7.5 came in 2 games vs. Green Bay, and their atrocious OLine. Remember that Antwan Odom also had 4.5 sacks vs. GB...

What are we debating about? The fact is, people were questioning the team's decision to draft Oher as late the pre-season. However, he's already blossomed into one of the best young players in the league, in 8 games. Whether or not everyone is convinced he's played at an All-Pro level, enough scouts feel he has and that is definitely worth something. Ozzie hit the jackpot with him and as fans, we should be happy he's on the team.
