Lardarius Webb

To me, Webb was the best player on the team today. He might already be the best tackler in the defensive backfield and flashed some good coverage too. I'm not ready to say he should be starting over Washington or Foxworth but I really believe Harbaugh should elevate Webb to the every-down nickel.

I agree. He was the best player out there. He was the only guy I saw any intensity from.

But Harbs should still stick a knife in the game ball. And then set in on fire.

You should have posted this in the existing Bright Spots thread. We need to up the post count on that one.

I prefer Webb having his own thread, lol.

Palmer wasn't even looking at Webb today. Fabian slipped once, Foxworth slipped once, and Webb slipped zero. Rookie Webb was the only CB not picked on today.

Get Well Soon Fabian Washington.

Taylor Mays, Berry, or Haden!!!

It's funny how we can judge our CBs based on SPG (slips per game).

Mays is a bum. I would love to see Berry or Haden in a Ravens uniform though.

But back to Webb. I agree about the slips. I didn't have my eyes on him but I doubt he bails the second the ball is snapped like Foxworth and Washington do. It baffles me how two corners who both run in the 4.3s can't backpedal.

I've been saying Webb should be our nickel for weeks, but apparently our coaches don't feel the same way.
This is just like the Clayton thing. I think Washington should be the #2 and move Clayton to the slot. But just like Carr, our coaches are riding Clayton's nads hard too and refuse to pull a guy wo isn't playing well.

Today would've been a day when I would've been fine with Clayton in the slot. The receivers on this team besides Washington have zero physical presence. If the route isn't perfect or the throw isn't on time, the corner is likely to break up the pass.

Webb needs to start over Fabian. Fabian and Dominque both have played pretty terrible all year, but I think that Fabian is not physical at all. Webb is showing up two veterans and has earned a starting role on this defense with his play and sure tackling.

In my opinion, Webb did his job today. He didn't do anything spectacular, but none of the defense did either. Ed missed 2-3 HUGE tackles, and the fumble he caused was sheer luck. I still think chris carr should be cut. Did you see him today? F'n idiot talkin trash. "I don't think anyone's caught a ball on me all year." He said recently. Jesus couldn't make this kid good at football. I kept telling my wife when he was takin punts that were lucky he doesnt pull a boller and muff it. I'm not jumpin off the bandwagon with the team this year, but 7-9 is what i'm thinking itll turn out to be. And with McGahee, Mason, And Lewis questionable after this year, I'm worried for the next few years. But yanno, as they say: Winning cures all.

Webb should start for the rest of the year as far as I'm concerned.
I like what I see in him. He brings the heat! :flamethrower::melt:

Lol, you want pass defense, so you want Taylor Mays??

He is terrible in pass coverage. He is strictly an inbox safety

I think Lardarius should definitely start no doubt.

Fabian has looked horrible all season, and looked even worse on sunday. I'd rather have a rookie play like a rookie, than a 5 year vet play like a rookie.

Lardarius played outstanding, and the Bengals did try to pick on him, they threw at him about 4 or 5 times, and he was only in the game for about 2 quarters.

Start Lardarius Webb he's physical, fast, has great ball skills, and brings it each down.

Not only that Webb didnt allow a first down to be converted against him.

Even though Webb shut down the recievers he was covering, the thing I liked most was the way he was tackling the RB. He reminds me of a young Antoine Winfield

I went over this thread and one fact that I have not seen up yet is that Webb is smaller in height and weight than both of our starting CBs who are "undersized" themselves.

This man is the truth. Hes showing up 2 starting CBs that are bigger than him and have been in the league enough years

Hes showing up Chris Carr who was brought in as a "return specialist"

This guy is the epitome of playing like a Raven

Well said. Unlike the starters, Webb plays bigger than his size and is aggressive at the point of attack.

Although it won't happen, someone on the radio suggested putting him at SS considering he played some safety in college. I actually wouldn't mind that considering Landry probably leads the team in missed tackles and hasn't made many plays this year.

The good news is that Webb is definitely going to see increased playing time.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves everyone. I realize we are all desperate for a decent CB but this guy is a rookie from a small school who hasn't truly been tested yet. When Webb saw most of his action against the Bengals they had clearly decided to pound away on the ground. Sure Webb played well the few times they threw his way but can anyone honestly say they expect him to shutdown Ochocinco one-on-one. I doubt it.

All that said, START THE GUY! When in the history on the NFL has there been a better time to start a rookie CB then against a Browns team who will be starting yet another new QB (back to Quinn) and 2 rookie WR? If Harbaugh doesn't start Webb this week I'm convinced he has no idea what he's doing.

I say try him at starting CB and try out Zibby or Nakamura at strong safety for a few games. What we are doing now aint working
