So In Conclusion

whats our main problem? I've skimmed and read all the critism thread. What is the biggest problem that we should fix? Is it the coaches? The defense? Taller WRs? or do we just need to wait and take this as a rebuilding year. What is the biggest problem?

Oh God, where do I begin. We need to get more pressure on the opposing QB to try to help our terrible Corners. Our D managed to do this last week. Mattison needs to call more blitzes. I had hoped that Cam would have come up with a new game plan for Cincy, but I didn't see one. We need to bench Carr - I don't care how much money we paid him. Use Webb instead. O Line did not give Joe enough protection to get off a deep pass, and when they did the receiver dropped the pass or it was intercepted. Also, seemed like poor execution by the D and O. I'm sure there are other issues to be addressed, but I'm depressed by talking about them.

I don't think firing coaches is going to help.

Y'all forget Harbs got us to the championship last year. Sure you might think it's a fluke now but to call for his head halfway into only his SECOND season is premature and, really as far as I'm concerned, not fair. Had we gone 5-11 last year instead of 11-5, maybe not.

Firing Mattison? How the hell is THAT going to help fix the defense? Think about THAT before you rant about sticking his head in the guillotine.

My personal feel: it's personnel. We've got small CBs who have trouble hanging with big receivers like Ochocinco and Sidney Rice. We've got to get a bit more depth on DL...seeing Trev go down today scared the heck out of me. We need to address WR concerns since everyone's hitting FA next year and Mason most likely won't be back.

And we've been hit by some injuries too....Ayanbadejo going down for the season affected the D AND ST. Haloti out I'm sure really didn't help much today either.

I'm not a coach or a personnel expert so I really don't know what the answer truly is. However, I still love the Ravens to death and even though I'm frustrated, I'm not ready to give up on them.

I think we have alot of talent on the team as evident last week so what was the differce. Game planning was the cost of this game, defence didn't come out of the gate setting the pace like lst week and then got wore out i mean defence played like 12 minutes in first quarter they were spent already. Offence had vanilla plays cam needs to pick up the pace no huddle, something you don't wait until 4th qt to start playing like you want to win a game. so i blame it on play calling on both sides of the ball, we have the same plyers every week and this week it was obvious that the players were thrown under the bus.

I'm not sure you can draw any conclusions from this game. It was not one of Flacco's better days(deep throw accuracy). But why didn't the offensive coordinator see that earlier in the game and shrink the field so the quarterback could get into a rhythm? The officiating was horrid and one sided. Reed got tackled on the way to the punter. Mason was constantly interferred with by Joseph (illegal contact). Kelly Greg was consistantly held on the way to the quarterback. The Ravens are 4 & 4? There are still 8 games to play.

How is keeping Mattison going to help fix the defense? He's had 8 games to get it figured out and so far, nothing. We couldnt get any worse without him than we are now.

I think its our corners, first and foremost. I mean look at the other side. Our guys were covered all day. Even when flacco had time to throw, he was throwing to guys with defenders draped all over them. Their corners were SOLID to say the least. Every catch ochocinco had, the corner was on his ******!

To me, Mattison and his 4-3 seems like a fat kid holding on to the last piece of chocolate. No matter how bad it is, he still clings onto it.

Ya know whats intersting...
IF this was our performance last year, harbs, flacco, Cams first years with us we would be pretty tickeled. Before last sason we all were expecting a rebuild year or two, or three.
We got a little spoiled last year. We got a LOT spoled last year.
So many years of terrible QB's and lack luster offence. If this was our performance last year we would all be excited about things to come.
Maybe we are still in a rebuilding year.
Either way, I am still excited to be a Ravens fan.
We have a heck of a lot of talent both sides of the ball and on the side line.
GO RAVENS!!!

No, Im calling for Mattison to be fired. There are too many unemployed people out there to have this guy get paid for below average performance from a defense REX RYAN took to the AFCG.

Maybe not on this thread but I've seen it coming from Ravens fans in other places (in fact look at some of the comments off Ravens Facebook).

I agree..play-calling...execution. I still think it's a matter of personnel.

For me it is all on the DBs - the rest of the team know that they are weak and I'm sure it is unsettling for the team as a whole.

We work our asses off to score and the opposing team just come out and go deep! The PI calls are because our DBs can't live with the WRs in the league - and these calls are killing us!

Yes, I agree pressure on the QB is important but this game was the Bengals - can you imagine what the Colts or Saints would do to this secondary?

So, to end....its the DBs for me - they are hurting the team as a whole!

our main problem is Peyton Manning in two weeks... :toilet:

You know what - I think this game will be a shoot out! We will have success passing against the Colts! It helps that they are missing to starters in the secondary!!

Start Webb, upgrade Kj Gerard from the practice squad. Im sure he is better then Carr or Walker, heck he cant be no worse. Webb, fox, fabian and Gerard should be our corners, cut ties with Carr and walker for good.

I think our real dilemma is in bold. But also id never through any coach under the bus not Harbaugh or even Mattison. Although I think Harbaugh needs to open his eyes and realize that even though it wouldnt have looked like the best decision to have picked up Foxworth and Carr and bench one or the other for a rookie, you have to think he'd take different chances by throwing other personnel on the field ie. Webb as a starter, Kruger in the mix with Gooden,Ellerbe, we have a raw but up and coming DB in KJ Gerard. I wont even throw Mattison under the bus, but i think he needs to bring it back to the old D, the 3-4. Bring more pressure, and be less predictable in blitz and coverage.

The biggest and probably the only real major problem I see that can be fixed is discipline.

People talk about the size of the corners but Fabian and Foxworth's biggest problem is neither of them of are physical. Lardarius Webb came in off the bench and delivered more hits and forceful tackles than eithr Fabian or Foxworth have all season. The receivers are what they are and I've come to the conclusion that Leon Hall and Johnathan Joseph are much better than people think. The defense, while not spectacular, actually kept the game close yesterday.

None of those problems can be fixed. The discipline of the team is something that needs to be addressed. Whether it's holding(offensively and defensively), blocking in the back or other bonehead gaffs, Harbaugh needs to stamp out the mental mistakes.
