K-Swift was more of a DJ. She was awesome. Loved her work. RIP

True, but she also made some great songs. I love her song Rydah Gurl, although she only does the chorus. I miss her, haha!

Man, memories of middle school/high school...that song was stuck in my head for the longest time when it came out. R.I.P. K-Swift...

Speaking of B-More rappers, I'm disappointed that Bossman hasn't taken off despite being signed to Virgin Records for awhile there. He's on MySpace Records now (affiliated with Interscope, where 50 Cent and Eminem are), but I haven't heard much from him other than the couple of mixtapes he's put out. I'm not really feeling much of his new material compared to his older stuff; his beat selection is lacking.

Tupac will always be my favorite, The Don Killuminati 7 Day theory best album ever imo. Some other lesser known cds that were good.

Twista- Adrenaline Rush
Mystikal- Mind of Mystial

Both classic's that few have listened to, the old twista aint as commercial as the stuff or crap he's coming out with now.

I have to say the best rapper is almost unknown to many these days

AZ

One of the best lyricists I have ever heard over an instrumental. Its a shame he never got the attention that his skill warrants. Second would be Buckshot from Black Moon. Look for "I Got Cha Opin" by the Boot Camp Click that was the groups name before Black Moon.

Greatest Rapper ever was Definitely "Big L" Casualties Of A Dice Game was a masterpiece. Its a must hear for any hip hop head. He absolutely killed it.

Sorry Lil Wayne, I don't care how many Lollipops you eat, I would never respect you as an artist. Turn the Soundbyte off and stop actin all soft! Just because you put yourself on every song and jame yourself down societys throats, that doesnt make you great, it just makes you "commercial"

I LOVE AZ! Well, he's not in my top 10 favorites, but "The Format" is one of my all-time favorite songs. It's my unofficial secondary theme music for my show, other than Kanye's "Flashing Lights" (one for hip-hop, the other for R&B.) The DJ Premier beat was just phenomenal, and AZ just owned it.

I still will never understand how Wayne improved so dramatically between albums. It defies all logic. With all the drugs he was on (and that was well-documented), there's no way he could've focused strictly on improving his lyricism in the time that passed; he had to have had a ghostwriter (which many suspected) and just picked it up from there.

AZ is not in many peoples top 10 because he never gained the fame or promotion. It was the label he was on. Had he gone to Interscope or Def Jam, he could very well be sitting in everyones top 5

As for Weezy. I believe he has had a ghost writer for some time. The skill between The Carter 1, 2, and 3 Is almost impossible to attain in 1 years time between each. I dont think he is a very good lyricist though, if you have ever heard him freestyle. If you can ever get your hands on a mixtape called SQ4 He totally rips an old beastie boys beat. The lyricism he shows on that track was well beyond anything he was putting out at the time. My question is, who could be ghost writing for him?

Not many people are big enough to ghostwrite for him and keep it under wraps, maybe jay-z. With lil wayne claiming to be the best rapper alive every five minutes, theres no way a ghostwriter wouldnt come foward. With that said he had a nice flow with the hot boys, and I think he just put in work. He's been rappin forever, i still wont say he's great but he's pretty good.

Very untrue about somebody not coming forward. I think Eminem has been writing for Weezy, hes been out of the game for so long until now. Since then Wayne has risen to the top. Also, it could be a complete unknown. There are alot of rappers that would rather stay underground and never get in the lime ligh. Ghost writing is a way for their talents to be displayed to the world on a level they dont wish to attain.

A lot of people thought that Drake was his ghostwriter since their flows are similar at times; it'd also make sense, since Tha Carter came out in 2004 and Drake already started rapping by then while he was still acting on "Degrassi." Plus, it's a little too coincidental that Wayne would sign him to his record label so quickly after his buzz got bigger.

I notice that Weezy's rhymes are mostly non-sensical. He's almost like rap's version of Ralph Wiggum from "The Simpsons." He'll say one thing, then come out of nowhere with another thing, sometimes not even rhyming. -_-

Both u and purple make good points, its true his subject matter is high school at best.... I miss my dawgs is prob the only song that dealt with his real life. But ive listen to him since the 90's and while his flows has improved, he's not great. Plus all his mixtapes are freestyles thats nice, kinda puts a hole in the ghostwriting theory...but you guys may be right we will prob never know

I think Big L > AZ

Big L was tight man, another rapper gone before his time. Devil's Son is one sick track.

Ive been listening to a lot of Eminem recently and I just want to say that I think he is one hell of a rapper. His lyrics are great. His songs are so deep. I love Mockingbird, Till I Colapse, Lose Yourself, Stan, and I really like When Im Gone. Everybody at my school has some false belief about Lil Wayne being the best rapper alive. I think the problem with Lil Wayne is that he's so repetitive and raps about the same stuff in every song. Eminem on the other hand, draws from real life experiences and its great stuff. When Eminem raps, he pretty much just telling a story.
