I just saw this video here about Trent Dilfer and the 2001 SB Run, and I was wondering, why didn't the Ravens resign him after that year?

No one really knows... and Trent Dilfer is the only QB in history to win a SB and NOT be on that team's roster the following season.

I guess that management must have thought that once Elvis was in the building, Dilfer wouldn't be needed. :34853_brickwall:

Ozzie was swayed by Billick to sign Grbac and release Dilfer following the super bowl. Billick was always wanting a top tier QB for his team because of his offensive roots in Minnesota and San Diego St, Grbac had thrown for 4,000 yards 28 TDs and 14 Ints the year before in KC. In principle (if real life was Madden) this swap would have guaranteed us another 3 super bowls. Jamal Lewis, a 4000 yard passer, our Defense....game over, total nightmare for the NFL. However what was unforeseeable was Grbac's demeanor was totally wrong for this team. He was soft, couldnt handle criticism, played terrible in our offense, and how the city of Baltimore would react to Dilfer's release and Grbac's signing. Dilfer, while not a spectacular QB, knew how to win, understood his role with the team, was a good leader, and tough as nails much like the defense. Grbac's signing in principle should have taken us to the next level, however like I said Dilfer's release greatly angered alot of Ravens fans whod grown to like and accept Dilfer for what he was as a football player and how he understood his role with our defense. Grbac wilted under the criticism, something Dilfer didnt do in Tampa or anywhere, and actually cited his harsh treatment as reason for his sudden retirement after 2001.

Thats how I saw it, dont know about anyone else.
