Week 9 – Baltimore Ravens At Cincinnati Bengals

2,199 posts in this topic

No...it wouldn't have helped...Cincy was the better squad...Today and a few weeks ago when they
beat us in Baltimore.

Did you watch the Denver/Baltimore game? Do you think the Broncso suck or were they just bested
by the better team?

Please don't speculate on what games you will or will not win. I'm sure before the season for both the games against the bengals you were calling them wins too... how did that work out for you?

This is going to be a tough week around here with Bengal trolls. Were YOU here last year when we Swept the Bengals.

Dude they gave more yardage to Cinci via penalties than the offense had the entire first half. If that isnt the Ravens beating themselves I dont know what is.

If your looking to have your ego stroked, its not going to happen. So, get lost.
I'm sorry, sir, but the Ravens committed 7 penalties for 80 yards & the Bengals 6 for 40. Your contention is that those extra 40 yards allowed the Bengals to open up a 40min to 20min TOP gap against the Ravens?

I didn'y play in the game. Why would I want my ego stroked & by some people on a football msg board? Get real. I understand you guys as fans are dissapointed, I would be too, but there are a lot of games left to play!

Too many people giving up the season, we are at 4-4 and getting the wild card isn't out of reach. The Colts helped us by beating the Texans and NE did us a favor by beating the Dolphins. Both of which were in the wild card hunt. Looking at the rest of the schedule:

Week 10: @ Cleveland: Win, 5-4

Week 11 vs Indy: Win, Upset of the Week 6-4

Week 12: vs Pittsburgh: Win, I still think we spilt with the Steelers, 7-4

Week 13: @ Green Bay: Win, they just lost to Tampa and they have the worst oline in the league. 8-4

Week 14: Vs Detroit: Win, 9-4

Week 15: vs Chicago: Win 10-4

Week 16: @ Pittsburgh: Lose 10-5

Week 17: @ Oakland: Win, Ravens match their win total from a year ago 11-5. Or 10-6 if we lose to Indy.

With 11-5 we probably get the 6th seed, maybe the 5th if we are lucky. 10-6 probably 6th seed or no playoffs. Looking at this schedule though we might have been swept by the Bengals, the Bengals don't have a cake walk to the division title. I'm looking at their schedule and they could finish 11-5 or 10-6 or 9-7 who knows. The Steelers look like they could finish 11-5 or 12-4 as well based off their schedule. 12-4 if they beat the Broncos, 11-5 if they lose Monday Night. This division race isn't over by any means. It's going to come down to Week 17. DON'T GIVE UP HOPE!
Honestly, I think it's not unreasonable to think that we'll lose to the Steelers twice again. The Ravens simply aren't an elite team - there are so many ways to beat us, ESPECIALLY if the other team has a decent QB. There is no way we beat the Colts, Manning will have a field day with our softy corners (not Webb though).

Playoff chances look very slim, and Ozzie really needs to re-evaluate this team on the defensive side of the ball this offseason.

I'm not giving up hope. We can still make the wild card. But my week stinks whenever the Ravens lose. I was on a high all last week and now, I have this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. I need something to take my mind off of this loss. It is painful. But we can bounce right back with a win next week. We need to start putting wins together and get rolling. If we run the rest of the table we will be good. Our cushion in getting smaller, can't allow anymore losses!!!

it's funny because when a few of us said the bengals were going to win at least on of the games against us others scoffed, different year different team, and in fairness you get on a roll gain confidence you can win games.I don't see alot of confidence in this team right now.The Bengals have shown up this year how long will it last? guess we'll find out in 8 weeks.

The key to the playoffs is for the Ravens to be consistent and WIN! We were faced with more adversity last year and we are WORSE this year. Very few IR players, Flacco with a more experience, Ray Rice having a great season. What does it equal, ? 4-4. 1-2 in the division and 3 losses in the AFC, this all equals trouble.

The Jets are, ironically, probably the key to our fate. If we end up with the same record, they have the tiebreaker. But they are as off and on as we are and they are playing with a rookie QB.

The other problem is, if Pitt does go on to take the division, Cinci gets in as the wild card. Leaving only 1 wild card slot left. Our best bet, is to pray for a Pitt meltdown, which most likely wont happen.
Yeah, the Jets are a true "wildcard" you can't on them, and you can't count them out. Just for good measure they are facing teams like Jax, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta who are also unpredictable.

Even if Pittsburgh has a meltdown, there aren't enough teams who can exploit them. They are going to beat Denver this week and after that there's Green Bay, Cincy, and Baltimore twice (if we deserve to be considered a threat) and that's it. They're going to play in January.

With Pitt, Min, SD and NYJ, and Cleveland, as well as a slew of injuries, I'd say that Cincy is a better bet for a meltdown.
The Colts are a tough defensive matchup for us but with two guys down in that secondary @ home, I like Flacco's chances. Will it be enough to win, probably not but stranger things have happened.
The Colts defense is a bit inflated due to fact that they've only had to play practice squads, but let's face it, Flacco could lead the team to score over 30 points for the sixth time this season and our defense will still give up one more.

Neepo13 is anything but a sir, friend.... and the penalties called on us were game-changing, and the penalties not called on you were game-changing. The spotting of the ball on the play by Leonard confirmed in my mind that the referees are pathetic and may have it in for us... it wasn't even close.

A `troll' is an individual who enjoys creating conflict on the internet. He or she creates and fuels arguments which upset other members of the online community.

Trolls thrive in the anonymous space that is the internet. Trolls crave attention from others, and they don't care whether the attention is positive or negative. For trolls, other users are not quite real people; they are abstract characters on the other side of a computer screen. Trolls don't feel bad about hurting the feelings of other people in the digital space

it was a very off day for our offense,or maybe just a good defensive day by the bengals flacco threw 2 int's but my count it coulda been 5 if not for drops by the Bengals.Joe can't be on all the time, and Cincy's defense did match up against our offense 14 total points by our offense in 2 games.
Were we flat yes and also our offense needs to try to set more of a tone early on,we didn't click til the 4th quarter.
I'm frustrated as much as anyone else and just hope we can salvage this season.

Hey Fellow Raven Fans,

The NFL is filled with the best athletes in the world. Sometimes you match up
and win one 30-7...sometimes you're outmatched and loose one 17-7.

That's Football.

I'm proud of my team, win or loose...I can't toss them under buss for an unsuccessful afternoon
and I can't ignore the fact that Cincy has our number this year and deserved both wins.

So let's sweep Cleveland and Pittsburgh and get this behind us, shall we?

See ya next weekend

Agreed. I'm sitting here thinking the same thing. It just seems like we kind of laid down against them. I feel we definately should have beat them in BMore, and it's not like they did anything great today. I mean they came out strong, but we just looked flat all day. Our defense settled down and held them in check from the second quarter on. I know alot of people are on Mattison, but I didn't care for our offensive game plan today either. I think Cameron deserves some of the blame.
....as well as Harbs. He is, after all, the head coach. Those other guys work for him, not vise versa. I've supported Harbs, and still do, just wonder if he cracks the whip as much on them as the players.

This ones on the offense
uhm I think I'd have to disagree, I only saw tidbits of the game, but the defense couldn't get themselves off the field... the defense couldn't stop anybody..... at least for the first half anyway, the defense gave up the 100 yard rusher... I'm not saying the offense doesn't deserve its part in responsibility for this loss, but you just can't point the finger at the O... when the D was horrendous in itself

I'm not saying our season is over... but we must ... MUST make changes.... I don't fully understand why we switched away from the 3-4 when we all saw it work in denver... I know that our secondary probably could have been just as bad either way... but we could allow more of our expertise players on the field at one time.... (LB's)

speaking of LB's idk what happened between kruger and harbaugh or kruger and whoever.... but you gotta put the dude in.... we have enough ST players... we need people to show up on the DEFENSE... including the coordinator.... if you put him in and he sucks... thats one thing, if you don't give him the chance, than why draft him we had bigger needs going into the season.... none of which involving the WR.... granted in the scheme of things some will argue that now
you guys are hilarious, this game marks the halfway point to the season, we a are sitting on a .500 record, and you guys are counting us out of the season and praying for a early draft pick. You have got to be kidding me. Were we gonna go 9-0 for the rest of the season? We are 2 games back in the AFC North, and are just now hitting the prime of divisional play. If you guys think that are season is over, you deserve to root for another team.
idk about going 8-0... but in no way is our season "over" like you said, the 2nd half of our division games are coming up.... and they aren't going to get any easier... (minus the browns) any given sunday and anything can happen.... for all we know the bengals could drop 7 of the next 8 or so games

but how the hell do we go from winning in denver and being superbowl competitors to a season ending game in one week?

theres a reason why alot of people look at us as a laughing stock, and its that doom and gloom attitude that causes it... pull yourselves together, yes it is a loss.... but surely things could be much much worse

This is one of the worst days to be a Raven, because you know there good enough. This isn't like 2007 when they had no talent on offense.

They just beat one of the best teams in the AFC last week, and than get handled by the Bengals. There is only one person I can think to blame, and thats the Head Coach, because just like last time this team didn't look ready.

You did not see enough of it then. The offense was positively stagnant. I think we converted one third down, but the defense actually kept the Bengals scoreless for like 3 quarters. Not to mention the two interceptions and the failure to score on the turnover.

like I said the offense deserved their fair share, and I was going off of what I saw/what was shown to me, and to me, you gotta play like you're playing the best in the league every week..... that way when you do, you are prepared.... that being said, the D NEEDED to get themselves off the field.... cover people, and give the O good field position.... I mean congrats to them for keeping it scoreless for that portion of the game.. but both sides of the ball need to show up for all 4th quarters, not just when they feel like it

like previously stated,

prepare like your playing the best, prepare like the other side of your team is the worst (maybe not the best motivation) makes your D stingy (and we all know about that) and makes your O prolific imo..

Yea the commentaries were laughing because it was funny to them. Uh, no, it's not funny, and I hope he gets fined or something for it, it was stupid.

As for the Ravens, we have no intensity on defense. It's like the only people that care are Ray, Reed, and Webb.

Thats my fear. Cinci could have a meltdown but can we win enough games and will they lose enough games, that the tiebreaker wont matter. We have to win 6 of our last 8 to even have a shot at the wildcard, which means they have to lose 5 of the last 8. I dont see that happening. If they can be counted on to take the division and we can split with Pitt than we may be able to get a tiebreaker over Pitt but I dont see it.
