Had it preordered, so far its been an awesome game (I got it for the PC, the storyline is awesome, combat system is great, and the graphics are very very beautiful)

Bloody with decent gore, Dark RPG type.... I don't know how it is on the consoles, but I don't trust alot of RPG's on consoles ... but this is definately a game to look into if you are into those RPG types (however if you are buying this for your children, I'd pass.... definately a more adult oriented game)

EDIT:

if you've played oblvion.... its like that but on crack and steroids from what I've told (haven't really played oblivion)

That game looks so cool, I'm definitely going to get it for ps3.

What origin did you choose? I'm not sure whether to go with human noble or wild elf.

honestly, if your PC can run it I'd highly suggest getting it for the PC.. from what I understand the quality isn't as great on the systems, but either way I'm sure its still very good

I have a Elven Magi (for mages you have the magi origin... which is different than the actual racial ones) and a Human Noble Rogue both are at about same spot in the game

for the PC its an RPG/Strategy Hybrid.. and by that I mean its mainly RPG with some Real Time Strategy involved, and I can't speak on how well done this is

heres the video link for IGN review of the game

From my experience, games on both PC and console are almost always better on PC, if you have the right graphics card, etc.

I wish I could play these Dark video games. They freak me out when I'm getting chased by evil and its up to me to kill them.

Sort of reminds me when I'm being chased in my dreams and I'm running in slow motion. So frustrating. That's the same feeling I get when I play these dark games.

My computer can't run Sims 3. There is NO WAY.

So does it have a predetermined plot or is one of those loose ended Choose Your Own Adventure types?

indeed, however I think playing somthing like call of duty or assassin's creed is funner on a console... plus I like console games too due to bigger library, and the ability to trade it in... and not have to worry about cd keys

I'm not that far into it, but from what I understand is its one of those "choose your own way" but you don't have the morale meter, you've got to make choices based off of your own values, and I won't lie... there are some pretty tough ones.... and I haven't even made it past like 10 hours of game play on either of my characters... both are fun

I don't know if that really answers your question, but I don't want to give anything away...

That looks like Lord of the Rings. That part where the group is travelling on the snowy peak is exactly like when the Fellowship of the Ring tried to take go over the mountains instead of the dwarves mine.

Picked this up yesterday for my 360. Must say, well worth the money. However, Bioware is almost incapable of making a poor game, in my opinion. For some reason, I'm digging the fantasy medieval setting more than I anticipated, most likely because it's extremely well done. I'd highly recommend it for those who enjoy Bioware games, RPGs like Fallout and Oblivion (like mentioned above), or just RPGs in general.

As for my origin, I picked Human Noble, and I loved every minute of it.

also if you like DLC, don't rush to trade it in, they've stated there is going to be plenty of it :)

They actually completed the PC version a couple months ago, so they've had plenty of time to polish it. I've been following this one for a couple years now, they're calling it the "spiritual successor" to Baldur's Gate, which are 2 of the greatest RPG's ever made. Looking forward to getting it!

Dragon Age Origins is an amazing game. Bioware continues to be the best video game development company out there.

My original play through was a Human Noble Warrior, then I tried out a Human Magi and had fun but started to miss melee'ing stuff so I made a City Elf Warrior...the origin stories are so fun and deep, the temptation to start over just to try a different origin is only outweighed by the desire to continue to explore the Dragon Age world and just talk to new people and advance the plot.

Now I can't wait for Mass Effect 2, and hopefully another Dragon Age game is coming.

Absolutely no argument from me on that statement! Everything they put out is awesome.

I created a Dwarf Noble Rogue. Kind of an oxymoron, a noble thief? lol

I'm really looking forward to Mass Effect 2 also. Freakin' amazing, it will pick up right where you left off in the first one, depending which ending you chose.

I've been playing for about 10 hours, it really has a LotR feel to it. The main enemy in the game is called the Darkspawn, and they look a lot like the Orcs from LotR.

its a boss... a big nasty if you will, I'm thinking I don't have the right party compilation... but ever since I got my healer a certain spell she started sucking...

so far it is the hardest thing I've fought

Re: Broodmother fight

Make sure your healer isn't scripted to blow her mana on unhelpful spells. Really all she should be doing during that fight is casting Heal and the heal over time spell. Also make sure she's scripted to chug mana potions whenever her mana drops below 25% or so.

Also make sure all your damage dealers and the tank are killing any tentacles or darkspawn that are up before doing damage to the broodmother. If you leave your tank on her then he'll be taking unnecessary damage from her while he could be tanking/killing darkspawn/tentacles. You also may have to take control of your ranged characters to move them away from tentacles. Kill priority should be Tentacles > Darkspawn > Boss.

That fight's probably the hardest in the game. I really liked it though because there were no online strategies for it when I had to fight her, leaving me to figure it out for myself.
