No Huddle Offense

26 posts in this topic

"The fact that the Ravens ran 31 plays without a huddle demonstrates how far Joe Flacco has come with offensive coordinator Cam Cameron’s system. The no-huddle calls for the quarterback to call the play or make an audible, get everyone in the right position, and then receive the snap before the play clock runs out."

Not only did we score 31 points, but it also allowed us to keep Denver guessing and their defense tired.

I think this is also a big reason why our D was so successful. Obviously much was caused by the different schemes and blitz packages, but our defense was able to stay off the field for long periods of time. When they got in there, they only allowed 3 successful 3rd down conversions.

When watching the game I didn't even notice we had 31 no huddle plays... I heard the announcer say we were doing it, and noticed a handful here and there.

I also noticed the announcer mentioning something about the difference between a hurry-up offense and a no-huddle offense. Some of those plays were simply hurry-up style where we'd get RIGHT BACK to the line after the previous play and run the ball while the D was on their heels and not ready. Not exactly Peyton Manning style with all of the hand signals and audibiling and reaudibiling and snapping the ball with .5 seconds left on the play clock...but it worked.

I though it was beautiful when Flacco hard counted and 2 of their LB's jumped and gave up their blitz plan and he audibled to the weak side and sure enough 12 yard gain.

All in all, I liked how the no huddle offense worked. It kept Denver guessing and on it's toes, which I think helped immensely with overcoming Denver's tight defense. Which asks the question of if Cam and Flacco continue to use the No Huddle after seeing how well it worked against a stingy defense like Denver. Last week's game brought up many questions, in my opinion. And that's not a bad thing.

It was great to watch our O be able to run that way. Can you imagine any of the offenses with Boller, Banks, etc. ever running the team that way?

What about this though?
So whether it’s no-huddle, sugar-huddle or whatnot, we want to put the pressure on the opposing team’s defense. And we wanted to wear them down.
Apparently it's one of those huddles where the QB talks to the line and everyone else is kinda wandering around. How do the RBs and WOs know what they're supposed to do? Signals?

I don't know how reliable it is, but here's my source: sugar huddle

Does any one remember early last season the first two or three games we did A LOT of hurry-up offence and it worked out great. But then we stopped.

I loved seeing it last week and hope to see more.

I like what I saw, it was instrumental in several 3rd down conversions.

Which extra point?

I liked that we ran the no huddle and I want to see us do it more. But I think our O and Joe specifically needs get a little more "savy" with it. We could have caught Denver with to many men on the field several times if our guys had just done a quick victory formation and snapped the ball before they were done making their substitutions. Denver pretty much took their time when they did sub because they didnt expect us to do something like that. Would be a nice free 5 or 10 yards or whatever it is.

Yeah, Joe needs to go Manning on the defense at the next opportunity.

Not to overlook the next few games, but I think the ability and comfort level that Joe, Cam and the offense have to run the no huddle, hard counts, and hurry up's, will be the difference maker in the stealer games this year!! B)

Too true. It builds frustration too, no doubt increasing the proximity to committing penalties... I really hope our discipline is good against Cincinnati. We better trounce those Bungles.

+1 Discipline will be the deciding factor in this game going by our play in all 3 losses so far this season.. I think the boys will be ready!

Well, seems like the Steelers did take notes of our dissection of the Denver defense. Apparently, Roethlisberger is lobbying their coaches to run the no-huddle, after watching Baltimore use it effectively.

The NFL is the epitome of a "copycat" league... this doesn't surprise me in the least bit.

We should utilize the no-huddle against the Steelers to keep them off-guard and unable to sub.

True, maybe we should follow the Broncos lead on how to beat Cincy. Throw the ball, have it tipped by a defender, then have another wide out catch it off the tip, and run it in for a touchdown.

Anyways, if Pittsburgh does in fact decide to run the no-huddle more after watching us, it's going to be Nolan's biggest test this far in the season. He has to make adjustments and stop or at least slow down the no-huddle. If not, he's going to be in for a long season, because if it works again, I'm sure we'll see more of it from teams playing Denver.
