David Versus Goliath

Anyone plan on watching the heavyweight clash of David Haye (an ex-cruiserweight) and Nikolai Valuev (the biggest pro boxer of all time)?

I love David Haye. He's the Bart Scott of boxing. He does not stop trash talking. Here are a couple of pre-fight quotes:

"Nikolai came to boxing late, he became a boxer just because he was big. I have done it because that's what I have wanted to do since I was a toddler. David will slay Goliath. The beauty will beat the beast."

'Haye has had a reputation for being a ladies man but says, "I have had to curb that now that I am married". However, he still personally picks the 'ring card' girls. "I audition them by making them walk around the ring." His criterion for selection is simple. "They have got to be hot," by which he means, "stunning, busty, bubbly, lots of personality. Some girls are shy and embarrassed, which is no good in front of 20,000 screaming people."'

"There is no great exciting heavyweight name. Everyone knew Mike Tyson. Americans used to run heavyweight boxing. But now talented Americans play American football or basketball and we have eastern Europeans like Vitaly Klitschko and Nikolai Valuev with names you struggle to pronounce. When I become heavyweight champion everyone will be able to pronounce David Haye."

"Everyone goes on about his size but have you seen how hairy this guy is?" Haye shudders in mock revulsion. "That's what I'm looking forward to the least, because he's got matted hair all over his body. It's not a pretty sight, especially when he gets sweaty. I would suggest a wax job but that would take too long. A lawnmower is the only practical solution. You know what I mean?"

"There's this giant, silent, murderous-looking Russian in one corner and, opposite him, we've got a good-looking, loud Brit who won't stop talking. It's David and Goliath all over again – and this time everyone in Germany and Russia seems convinced Goliath is going to smash little David."

Should be a good fight. I think it'll go 12 rounds. Valuev (7'2" 300+ pounds) isn't going down easily, and I don't know if he has what it takes to floor Haye.
I think it's 3PM ET on Saturday, if you're a boxing fan.

All the dominating heavy weights are out of the sport. These guys are CRAP compared to the previous talent pool in Pro Boxing. The sport is dead and MMA is the beneficiary.

I think it speaks wonders that Holyfield can still can compete (and may even challenge for a title early next year) at 47 years old. I mean, he's a superb athlete, but 47?
But Haye has always made it his aim to return the heavy weight division to it's former glory, even when he was two weight classes down. That's why he does all that talking and promo, to whip up interest. And to be fair, alot more people will watch this fight than they would have had it just been another chump fighting another chump. I like boxing more than MMA for the most part. There are sometimes great fights but it alot of fights are stagnant and boring. There are those in boxing too for sure, but there are alot less. All boxing needs is a great star, which is what Haye has said from the beginning.

The heavyweight division has been a joke for years. You can win titles with a long jab and clinches and most of America won't even know your name.
