He (Troy Polamalu) has one in the regular season and one in the post-season (INT's for TD's).
Brian Dawkins only has two as well over his whole career.

Darren Sharper has 11 in his.

So by your standards, Dawkins doesn't compare to Ed, but Ed can't hold Sharpers jock. Is that right?

Also, Ronnie Lott ran back 5 in his career (3 of which were in 1981, his first year).

Picks for TD's are great, but they are not the sole measuring stick for greatness.

Ok, but who'd win in a fight between Reed and Hairball?

Ed Reed is too light to step in Troy's ring.

They are both awesome at what they do, but what they do is different. I agree with H8R.

Prophet you can keep posting videos but the stats in the Reed video dont lie.
but they mislead

the stats on the video average troys 6

and reeds 3

as a SS

but reed played every game those three years....why dont we compare those three years to three years troy played all his games

2005

2004

2008

they are better then reeds.........

Throw in Dawkins, Sharper, whoever you want.

Half the stats listed refer to tackles and interceptions, not simply returns. Although I would suggest intercepting the ball and returning it for six is hugely valuable.

All the same, arguing Polamalu is better in here is probably not even worth attempting. Not saying people don't respect him, it's just stats plus hometown bias really leave you no chance!

I'm not interested in having you guys believe that Troy is better. But I will argue with anyone who says he's not as good (or better) as/than Ed Reed. Your stats (like ALL stats) don't tell the whole story. If you choose to put your faith entirely into them then you too will remain amongst the uninformed.

Is it Darren Sharper or Ed Reed who's about to break Rod Woodson's record for the most pick-6's?

I am sick and tried of people saying Troy is better than Ed. It has been going on for some time. The only thing he has that Ed doesn't have is a Ring. Polamalu is great no doubt but Ed Reed is better. Just thought I'd share the video.

Face the facts. The only Safety on the same level as Reed was Ronnie Lott.
People also forget super bowl rings are a team achievement. Things like DPOY are won through individual play.

Let's let one be "the best SS ever" and the other be "the best FS ever" lol this debate is as pointless as Brady vs Manning
I don't even know why people argue about this because I think its obvious that Peyton Manning is the better quarterback. Peyton has made Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie look like 2 pretty good wide recievers.

If those were Hines Ward or Ryan Clark hits I'll bet someone in here would be screaming about "helmet-to-helmet," "refs looked the other way," "he's dirty" and so on and so on.

For the record, I was never one to say Ed Reed couldn't hit.

Troy is one inch shorter and seven pounds heavier. You figure it out from there.

Besides, it was a joke. Laugh a little; you'll live longer.

IMO I don't think Troy would have been as successful on another lesser team.

He will get into the HOF, mainly because of his postseason success. Think about if he was on an average team.

Ed Reed on the other hand is purely a football smart incredibility athletic player that turns into an Offensive player whenever he gets the ball in his hands. No other Defensive player probably in the history of the NFL returns Ints, fumbles, Punts like Ed Reed.

Ed Reed is in a class with only one other safety. Ronnie Lott.

I'm not sure why you think Troy would be any less a play maker on another team. That really doesn't make any sense to me. I dount that any of the other 31 teams would pass up a chance to have him on their roster if they could afford it.

As far as Ed and Ronnie Lott being in the same class.....well, I don't think they are anything alike, first of all. That's a pretty major claim there.
Reed's more like Sharper and Dawkins is more like Lott. Polamalu is a freak of nature and I can't think of any class you can put him in.

After seeing how the Steelers play with and without Troy Polamalu, I think it's easy to say he's a big reason that defense is what it is.

There is a common misconception that he cant tackle which is bred from his small size but his missed tackle count is comparable to every other safety.

As for Polamalu, you'd hit hard too if you had a coconut for a skull :P :P

You're right about that. Ed Reed has a scoring rate of 1 td per 8 touches (and that's not including blocked punts), a rate that is unmatched in NFL history.

Troy probably wouldn't be a two time Super Bowl winner on another team, but he'd still be an elite player. There are some players that you can say "If you take away the Super Bowl; he's pretty average," but he isn't one of them.

I think most neutral fans will tell you Ed Reed is better. But please, continue to preach atheism in a church. Classifying anyone who goes on these stats as uninformed in these forums won't aid your argument either.

Or at least offer why we're wrong, rather than open-ended unsubstantiate assessments stating we're 'uninformed'
