I think we should sign him, its the least the Ravens can do look at what he has done for the Ravens. He carried the Ravens when they could not pass the ball and is the biggest reason the Ravens have the championship in 2000.He may not get into the Hall of Fame but that should not be the thing that overshadows what he did here. How many players have had as many 1000yd seasons and let us not forget the 2000 yd season.Bring him home!!!

Pretty sure our Defense was the biggest reason we won the SB, not J Lewis.

I guess the next question is: Does he get his name in our Ring of Honor?

I think between his Rookie season/SB performance, his 2,000 yard season, and 295-yard game, he makes a case for it.

There is no doubt he deserves to be in the ring of honor. I could care less one way or the other if we sign him to retire him. I just have a hard time getting the bad taste out of my mouth due to the way he finished his last year with us. Remember it seemed he just didnt give it his all. Yeah he kinda got the short stick over his contract but that is no reason to not give it your all game in and game out.

While that is true, he was basically our offense. Could we have done it with Priest Holmes? maybe but we definitely couldnt of done it with Dilfer throwing the ball like he was peyton manning or somethin.

I think he should get the one day contract.....How could anyone knock him for going with the Browns? The Ravens didnt want him anymore and Cleveland offered him a home. The guys just trying to work. Its not like the Favre ordeal where he went to the Vikes because he wanted to take a steamy one on the Packers this season.

I say no, at this point he is a brown and would love to beat us every time he steps on the field vs the Raven's. Remember his first game with the brown's vs the Raven's at M&T how he was taunting Billick after a big run. NO! Anyway what can brown do for you?

He makes a case, most definitely -- but not before other people get inducted first.

Super Bowl-winning Ravens in Jonathan Ogden, Michael McCrary, and Peter Boulware were already done right with their inductions. Jamal Lewis may get his turn, but only after guys like Ray Lewis and Matt Stover are inducted after their respective retirements.

Running back is hardly an issue, this seems like a sentimental suggestion more than anything to me.

Right, I wouldnt want him to play just sign and retire. But next year our o-line will be good enough any running back will get 1000 yards

Thats not really accurate. He only played 5 seasons. His second season he missed the entire season due to injury. I dont know where that leaves his average but its probably a whole lot better than that.

Edit
Nope, my bad he played 6.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but Lewis played 16 games in his first, second, and third seasons, with only 12 in his fourth season, but then 15 and 16 games in his fifth and sixth seasons, respectively.

No, he didnt. He missed his entire second season (2001) due to injury.

You still have to have an offense at some point and wasn't he the only thing we had going for us.

Actually, the plan was to resign him for a lessor amount but the Brownies had to scoop him up before he cleared waivers.

It would be an nice gesture if the Ravens signed him to a one-day contract but I don't know if they'll do it. Regardless, what Jamal did for the Ravens can't be understated. He literally carried the offense at times and ran hard even when his best day were well behind him.

Look not at all you got your money within our division. Your a brown now sorry Jamal much love and respect but you don't go to a team in the division and play if you want to retire a raven. That's just ridiculous, But heres what u can do put on a ravens jersey stand in the mirror and tell yourself you always where a raven and see how ridiculous you feel.

What?

What does going to another team in the division have to do with anything? Packers fans probably don't even want to hear his name but Favre's number will be retired and he'll join the Packers ring of honor very soon after he retires for real. And I don't think Jamal wants to retire a Raven. It's the organization that would extend a gesture like that.

Saying that something was the biggest reason that something happened is not saying it was the only thing we had going for us.

I was just correcting the fact that J Lewis was DEFINITELY not the biggest reason we won the SB. Clearly anyone that watched that season will know it was the best D ever that made us win that year.

Instead of creating another thread(which i am sure someone else will anyway) figured I would report that Jamal Lewis' career might come to an end sooner than though. He is suffering from an appaernt head injury and may be placed on IR

Now that his career is virtually over since he said he'd retire after this season, and his season's over now that he's to be placed on Injured Reserve, I'd say this thread is done. There'll likely be no signing of Jamal Lewis to the Ravens except a one-day ceremonial contract to allow him to retire a Raven.
