Bart Scott Quotes

18 posts in this topic

This is a mild one, compared to some statements he's made in the past.

Bart said this week that the Jets want to knock Chad Henne out of the game this Sunday. Obviously, every NFL week, the opposing team would love to knock the starting QB out of the game.

However, 99% of players have the common-sense not to actually say it... But, Bart will be Bart!

Remember when Bart wanted "to kill Hines Ward?" The guy is never at a loss for words...

He was essentially our version of Joey Porter when he was here and Porter was a Steeler, just not as reviled; that designation was reserved for Ray Lewis, among Steelers fans.

That said, Bart will be Bart. Good for him. Doesn't affect us if he's making himself look like a jerk, even though we used to eat this stuff up when he was a Raven. He still shouldn't have said it though -- now the NFL will be watching him much closer and probably coddle Henne for this game like they did Tom Brady.

But it also might make Henne rush his throws. He's done stuff like this enough times to observe how it affects a player's performance, so if he's still doing it he must see something he likes.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I'm a firm believer in shut up and let the ball do the talking. I'm not impressed with the trash talk from Scott or Ryan and to be blunt, I'm glad they're gone if this is how they are going to present themselves.

Now Porter has joined the war of words:

"I'm not worried about [Mark Sanchez] eating hot dogs on the sideline. I'm worried about how I can get him on sideline, with an ice pack."

Bart sure is a sore loser, but we all know that already... check out his post-game news conference if you haven't already.

Yeah, and did you hear Rex? He was so depressed. I loved when Dungy corrected him. Rex had said that the Jets outplayed the Dolphins and Dungy said, "No, they didn't. Special teams are part of the game." :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047

I remember watching that at home and thinking "how big of an idiot can you be?" We do miss him from a production standpoint, he's way better than Gooden but not worth the headache, IMO

Rex and Bart both sounded like sore losers, and I guess that's why they followed each other to the Jets. Sounds horrible that we're trashing two guys who we loved when they were Ravens -- but again, that's when they were Ravens. And I could easily be accused of having selective memory here, but I'm pretty sure neither guy sounded like this when they were in Baltimore.

At least losing with class takes the sting off a loss and gives a little hope that you'll bounce back; to sound like a little kid about it only makes things worse, because when you sound defeated, you are defeated.

You wouldn't be alone in that selective memory. I know I would have hit the roof had I heard of either of them (or anyone else) acting like that as Ravens. I was disgusted with Scott over the flag throwing incident. Call me naive, but I expect professionals to act like professionals. I'm fine with a little smack talking, but there's a line and it's getting crossed more and more, though not just by the Jets.

As those who have ever played me online in Madden, I'm a crap-talker, so I can't judge Bart on that aspect, but I know how to be humble after taking a beating, which aparently both Rex and Bart can't do. I have to snicker to myself that the Jets have come down to earth after they beat the Pats. I think they are an average team and they have played like one. BTW, who kicks to Ted Ginn AGAIN after he housed one previously? Either kick it short or out of bounds, I mean they were doing a pretty good job at stalling the Miami offense.

You don't put a kickoff out of bounds unless you're kicking to love child of Devin Hester and Deion Sanders. That's on the coverage team, not the decision to kick it to him.
