He averaged 4ypc, which is obviously not bad but nothing special either. I pictured him running for well over 120 before that game though and just demolishing Gary Bracketts fat self.
The fact that he only got 13 carries when Indy never took a commanding lead is a problem though.

In 96' we selected Ray Lewis with our 1st rounder.....when Tory James (CB) was still on the board. We wouldnt be in desperate need of a Corner right now. cmon man.

The fact that indy gave up 300 yards rushing in a game to the jags made me think we would go smashmouth the whole game.

I totally overlooked that....that being said.....We shoulda picked up Donnie Abraham (CB) he was on the board till the third round. -Ogden -Lewis +Abraham +James woulda made us a better team!!!! pshh....Ogden, Ray Ray, and jermaine Lewis....what a draft. I say we run that back next year!

2000 Draft - instead of Travis Taylor coulda had Shaun Ellis, John Abraham, Bubba Franks, Deltha O'Neal, Julian Peterson, Shaun Alexander or Keith Bulluck.
Ozzie or whoever is in charge of these WR picks needs to be barred from making any further decisions on WR's since none of them seem to pan out.
If you are going to go with the 2000 draft. Why stop at those names. Tom Brady in Round 6 instead of Travis Taylor (1st), Chris Redman (3rd), Richard Mercier (5). All those years of QB frustrations would've never happened.

None of this matter unless we were looking and considering that player.

It's like a fantasy draft, if you werent even considering picking a player the turns out better then the one you picked before him, then its pointless.

It sounds confusing but it is right.

and you showed your lack of intelligence by not reading the first post when it cleary says "this is just for fun" and that we are looking at this via retrospect because we didn't know who was going to be a bust or gem.....

Wow this is alot of fun. It amazes me that the Ravens could have had Nnamdi Asomugha, we wouldn't have secondary issues at all, Reed and Nnamdi roaming the back field, Interceptions every other play! Also that we could have gotten Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees even! (You would think that when you get rid of Dilfer # 1 priority is finding that new Franchise QB, but hey Todd Heap worked out) and I would do anything to give back what we gave up for Boller and been stuck with Matt Schaub or even Mr. Rodgers(I mean by 2005 Boller was already a bust so how did we pass him up, but hey I'm good with Joe Cool)

About this one, 2002 2nd round Ravens took DE Anthony Weaver when Antonio Bryant, Antwann Randel El, and Deion Branch were all available.

Here's another one in 2004, 2nd round instead of Dwan Edwards we could have had Nick Hardwick and have a very young offensive line, who went in the early 3rd round.

2005 6th Round Supplemental draft pick, Derek Anderson, when we could have gotten Jay Ratliff to plug the middle on the defensive line. Think about that, Ray, Ed Ratliff all on the same defense, OUCH!

2006 2nd Round, Ravens drafted Chris Chester, and the very next pick Devin Hester was tooken by the Bears.

2006 4th Round, Ravens drafted D-Will when Leon Washington, Brandon Marshall and Elvis Dumerville were all available. I only bring up Dumerville because of how well of a season he is having.

I know this is for the Ravens but when I'm looking up past drafts to get my information, I'm looking at the current state of teams and boy does Arizona wish they took Adrian Peterson instead of Levi Brown. Arizona probably wins SB 43 and not Pittsburgh. I'm sure San Fran wishes they would have took DeMarcus Ware 1st Overall instead of Alex Smith. Imagine the 49ers defense with Ware and Willis. This is interesting and very fun.

Alright, this is merely just for fun and no way do I think Ozzie Newsome is a bad guy or a bad GM. But list players we could have gotten instead of a certain bust we got.

Examples:
In 2007, we took Yamon Figurs over Mike Sims-Walker.

In 2005, we took Mark Clayton when Aaron Rodgers and Roddy White were still on the board.

Remember, let's just try to make this fun and not make the thread into a whine fest or anything like that. Obviously with some of these we wouldn't of known they would be the stars that they are or the duds that we got until after the draft but still, what are yours?
Well....whadayaknow? A sensible alternative thought and no (-) reps. Maybe this board is maturing after all. I can appreciate that.

Your point is that Ozzie is not perfect. His performance can be analyzed just like anybody else. However, Ozzie is still one of the best in the business.

I like the direction these fans are heading. Please share your opinions. I just did.

sigh....here we go again.

The point of this thread is "What if". So yeah, I rather have gotten Rodgers in 2005 then watch a team struggle until 2008. At the same time Im glad we have Flacco now but Yes I would take Brees or Rodgers at the time of said draft (01 or 05) in a heartbeat.

thanks

Even if we'd drafted all these players who are preferable after the fact, we'd never be able to pay all these dudes. If we'd hit on every draft pick since '96, we'd just have tons of players of promising talent who play great for their rookie contracts, then we can only afford to keep a third of them, and have to painfully let go of dozens of great players. The huge contracts of the guys we did sign would make sure our depth was junk, and we may never have won a Super Bowl.

That being said, I wanted Brees so bad when he was a free agent. Everyone said "He's only 6'0", he's coming off major shoulder surgery," and I didn't care, because he was lighting it up at the end of his tenure with San Diego. Dude hasn't disappointed in New Orleans, galdamn. At the same time, Flacco has higher upside with his arm, height, and age. I also wanted him for almost a year before the draft. Great name, relatively local guy, big kid, big arm, underdog story, what wasn't to like?

Going over all the Patrick Johnsons and Travis Taylors is old news. We messed up, it hurts to think about it, why bother? Every franchise in the league has a ton of busts they picked right in front of Pro-Bowlers. We're up there with organizations like the Eagles, Pats, and Steelers, or close, that's all you can ask for. I'm just glad we have Bisciotti instead of an egomaniac owner.

And yet we still wouldnt take him if he was in the draft this year coming up with all the character issues he had at Marshall....goes to show you taking a chance on a guy every now and then isnt so bad.

Ouch here is another one.

2005, 2nd round, We got Dan Cody (ugh...) when Vincent Jackson was still on the board.
Harbaugh was in an interview after the SD game and said if there was a 6'5 CB out there we'd take him. Well, 6'3 215 lbs. Sean Smith from the undefeated Utah Utes was still on the board then we took Kruger. I like Kruger and all but we're not using him. I heard we signed "in case" we couldn't reach a deal with Suggs. We also needed another option at CB. I know we didn't know Foxworth and Washington would play this poorly but we knew we had no big physical corners with a schedule that showed us going up against several teams with WRs over 6'3. Did you see his one handed INT in pre-season??? He did the same thing in college. He could be a shut down corner with time. Looks like Larry Fitz on defense with those hands!

http://www.nfl.com/players/seansmith/profile?id=SMI707600

oh and not listen to Billick and get Boller. I'd rather we stick with just Suggs and kept our #1 pick the following year. We could have drafted DT Vince Wilfork or CB Chris Gambles.

Was Sean Smith taken before or after Kruger?

And as much as I like Flacco and his progression and poise, I really do... I would take Aaron Rodgers.

Good post, but one (possible) exception.

Woodley is a beast, but I don't think Grubbs gets nearly enough credit, as a OG. I think he's Pro-Bowl caliber. You never hear his name (cough penalty cough) and he's as steady as a rock.

Maybe this is a very stupid question, but whose MJD?

edit: nevermind, I remember now. The rb for the Jags right.

In that case we have Rice, who seems like the second coming of MJD.
