Impressive. We'll see how they handle Ngata, Gregg, Bannan, Edwards and McKinney. I'll be the first to admit the interior pass rush has been lacking and that's why all four guys have had to rotate alongside Ngata but it's only a matter of time before pockets start collapsing.

I agree. Webb came close to break several kicks against the Vikings. He's got the explosion to eat up chunks of yards regardless of the hole.

I'm really interested to see who returns punts. Carr is garbage, Reed has occasional ball security issues. Zibikowski or Nakamura should be doing it but they aren't very high on the waiting list.
He may have had a better chance against Kern, our old punter. Kern kicked long, but flat, often outkicking the coverage. He had the worst return average in the league (14.6 I think). i don't know anything about the new guy, Berger, but he can't be worse than Kern was.
Our coverage team on kickoffs is just killing this year. We've gotten several tackles inside the 20, and only 2 that I can think of (I could be wrong) past the 30. Plus we have Spencer Larsen (our coverage team wrecking ball) back from injury and ready to go.
Hopefully, with the new punter, you won't have much chance of returning one to the house.

How are your coverage teams? Royal has been returning both kicks and punts for us, and he's sure looked good doing it. Took one of each to the house against SD.

I don't know about that one. Prater definitely has one of the best legs out there, however, his accuracy is not so good. He misses a lot, thankfully hasn't cost us a game yet, but last year, he missed 2 PAT's in a row, IN A HUGE game. So, if he is on, he can hit 55 yard FGs with ease, however if he has confidence issues, then he can miss 20 yard FGs by 10 feet
Ok, I've never even heard of Prater. I thought you guys still had that other guy, the old one. But still I dont trust Hauschka and to me he's the worse kicker in the league, until he proves otherwise. I guess thats a wash than. How's Prater on kickoffs?

oh, come on, he's not that bad. He's only missed 3 this year, and one of them was over 50. And one of the PAT's last year was a botched snap, not a missed kick.
The only time he's ever been asked to try a game winner (OT against NE), he got it easy.

He can have accuracy issues, but they aren't consistent problems. I'm pretty comfortable with Prater anywhere up to 55 yards, except for the 30-40 slot on a bad day. . .that's where most of his misses are.

You should know Matt Prater, neepo. He was one of the guys on my playoff-built fantasy team in our league last year, remember? ;)

Prater's a good kicker, though. Strong leg, decent accuracy. Nothing too spectacular in the sense that he hasn't built his career on game-winning kicks yet (still young), but he could get there.

The coverage units for the Ravens have been impressive in my opinion. They did a great job against the best special teams player in the league Joshua Cribbs and the only long kick return I remember them surrendering was to Darren Sproles.

The punt return coverage units has been equally stout.

Jason Elam? Traded him to Atlanta last year because he wanted too much money, and his leg is no good beyond 40 yards anymore. Besides, he was from atlanta and wanted to retire there.
He hasn't done kickoffs for many years, meaning we had to have a punter who could also kick, meaning our punters always sucked.

We brought Prater in last year. He had been floating around the league with some really bad misses, but he'd never actually had training in kicking. Last year he missed a few more than I'd like, but he was perfect over 50 yards. Even hit a 58 yarder.

Many of us in Denver are hoping to see him break the NFL record one of these days.

But yes, he has had some accuracy problems. But he hit the only game-winner he ever tried.

He can easily boot it out of the endzone at Invesco. However, it seems like the coaches tell him to kick the ball higher, rather then far. So not really sure what to expect, but he's got a GREAT leg, so he can kick it deep in the endzone.

So, Webb probably wont get many chances at a kickoff return?

Yeah, they've gotten better. They struggled a little vs. KC. And I think Harvin got a couple of decent returns but so far no td's and no returns that would greatly change FP.

Hard to say, like I said I don't know if it is the coaches, or him, but a lot of the time he kicks it high, rather then deep. So depending on what they/he decides to do, he could, or could not.

He could. Like O&B said, the coaches have been telling him to kick it high so it lands right on the goalline. That's how we've been getting a lot of stops inside the 20.
But if our coverage is bad, or if Webb finds a seem, he could feasibly break one. Probably not though.

Franny, you got knocked out in the first round. Nobody remembers the team of the first losers. Only the team of the last loser, me. jk.

So, he's better than the guy thats not autoMATTic.

Well, gee, we've pretty much covered offense, Defense, Sp. Teams, matchups . . . .what else is there?

Mascots? Raven . . . isn't that a fancy name for those birds I shoot out of the corn field??

(or did I just add one too many :bricks: to the pile??)

But seriously, where did the Raven's mascot come from? Was it just because you already had the Orioles, and stuck with the bird theme, or is there something more to it?

Edgar Allan Poe was a native son of Baltimore, so to speak... he wrote "The Raven," ergo, the Ravens.

Yes, I misread his post, I thought he was referring to "The Ravens" in general and not just our mascot. We used to have 3: Edgar, Allan, and Poe, but due to the rough economic times, we only have Poe now, as WinnipegRaven also points out.

Well I guess If I took these Bronco's fan's word for it my conclusion about their team would be that they are flawless, unbeatable, and they'd beat the Ravens 100-0. Get real folks. First of all, just because your team is 6-0 doesn't mean you automatically know more about OUR team than we do. You probably haven't watched much of the Ravens at all this year, and if you did you would see that this is a team that very well could be right where you are right now.

The Ravens don't scare you? Well good! The Denver Broncos don't scare us either, IMO they aren't the best team in Football either. You guys can have all the attitude you want, but my only request is that you come back Sunday night or Monday because I'll have a nice Crow platter waiting for your consumption.

Again, guys, let's keep the smack talk out of it. If your post disappeared, there's a good chance it was bordering on it or was definitely smack. This is a NO-SMACK FORUM. That goes for fans of both teams.

You can defend your team and your point without resorting to smack talk.

EDIT:
Deleting some things to avoid smacking:

I'd still like to know. How many times per game does Rice catch out of the backfield? Are they screens or quick outs, or safety valve in the flat?

I've watched a couple of Ravens games, but usually while flipping back and forth between games. I don't know every member of your team by name, and I only have enough memory to remember every play of the Broncos games. So the # of time Rice catches doesn't exactly stick in my head. Any other week I wouldn't care.

But the screen has been one of our weaknesses, and it seems like Rice could definitely take advantage of that unless we've made adjustments.

I did not know that. Poe was from Baltimore? So is your stadium named "The House of Usher"? Instead of Gatorade, do you drink Amontillado?

Ok, sorry, enough puns. (At least I didn't say anything about an Opium addiction)

Thanks for that tid-bit. I'm a trivia buff.
