There is nothing exciting about losing. Ever! But I do agree, it is exciting playing the consistantly good teams. Losing, never exciting. Winning, always exciting.LOL

It's nice to actually care about the game and watch other great players. When we played Cleveland earlier this year, I was more interested in the other games playing in the bar. They just werent competitve and have very little talent. There best player is on special teams for godsake. When we beat poor teams, I dont feel good about the win. When we beat good teams, its much better.

How sweet is it that we get to play so many great teams the rest of the year. Worse comes to worse, we lose to some great teams. They should all be great games. As a football fan in general, the league is very competitive this year and the races should be great. If we dont get into the playoffs, dont you want to lose to great teams? Maybe I am being too positive here, but you have to at least be excited to go into Lambo, play the Steelers twice and Bengals again, get the Colts at home. We get to play undefeated Denver and most likely undefeated Indy.
As opposed to losing to bad teams, sure. In general: no. Losing sucks.

Seeing a game at Green Bay during the winter could be cool (no pun intended). However, I'm not looking foward to seeing us get blown out for the sixth consecutive time against the Colts.

As you said though, they will probably be pretty good games (excluding Indy) so at least there's something...

On anther note: when I watch football, I'm not seeing very much competitiveness. All I see are blowouts (Saints vs anyone, Colts vs anyone) or bottom feeders (Browns vs Bills, Redskins vs winless teams).

The Skins have to play winless teams or else they'd be winless themselves.

Seriously though, I can't say that I'm "excited" to have a tough schedule to finish out the season. At least not when we're 3-3, behind the Bengals and the Steelers. Now, maybe if we were 6-0 or tied with 5-2, sure. I want to see the Ravens in the playoffs, and right now, that means our closing schedule after the bye doesn't make me excited. It makes me concerned.

Same here. I try not to be too pessimistic, but let's face it: we never beat Indy and we're 1-4 against the Steelers the last two years. Add the fact that we were nearly embarrassed by the Bengals in our own house, and they're coming off of a bye, and then throw in a visit to Green Bay on top of that... I'm not too crazy about the upcoming weeks.

Anyway, I think we have another thread on this exact subject so it's time for a merge.

Oh my....so we could be witnessing the most prolific offensive year in the history of the league.
Thanks for digging that up. I didn't even realize that NO is on a pace to eclipse the all time scoring record.
Yeah, it's pretty interesting. You should check out my thread in the other nfl teams forum for some other weird stats.

Lol, I'm glad we don't have to play NO until next year.

Of course as Ravens Fans we should be worried about the remaining schedule. We wouldnt be honest if we said otherwise. One thing we should take into consideration is the fact that history has proven that the Ravens play some of their best football with their backs to the wall. Maybe this year wont be any different even though we havent shown to be the same team so far. I am feeling more confident this year about beating the Steelers than I have in the past year or so. Maybe this is the year we kick the hell out of the monkey that has been camped out on our back. Id like to think we can give the Colts a good game and even beat them this year in our house. It would be great. All of this doesnt matter though if we cant get something started this Sunday.

IMO, it doesn't matter who you play but i understand where your coming from. The way i see it, everyone plays the schedule given to them. It just so happens that ours is pretty brutal.

Actually if Pit and the Bungholes both continue to play well, it would seem that 11 wins might get the division crown, since we're all going to be beating up on each other. We can afford losses then to Indy and Denver if we win our rematch against Cincy and take both against Pitts.
But we don't need to set our sights on a particular win total, we merely have to make up the game and a half we are down, and we still have 10 games (3 against the teams ahead of us...we can go UP a two games in the division if we beat Dener next weekend and win those games).
I see your point. However, the big issue remains is that we HAVE to beat some of these AFC teams should:

a)Bengals, Steelers and/or Ravens records are tied or close (+/- 1 game)

b)Make the division based on conference wins

c)We end up tied up for a wildcard position and it goes by conference wins.

I don't want to be the 2008 Patriots this year. by saying that we have an amazing winning record and we still don't make the playoffs.

The rest of the season....The rest of the SEASON? How about the rest of the week! We have lost three games in a row and preparing to play the second undefeated team in the last two weeks!

The rest of the season? I sure hope the players are not thinking like the fans. That's for sure.

we have to beat denver on sunday. we lost 3 straight. if we beat the broncos on sunday i think our team will be pumped up. the crowd is going to be loud. they are 6-0 but its not like they have been blowing people out. i have a good feeling about this i think we will win be 7.

:)

It's dangerous for the players to look ahead, to the rest of the season.
It's just fun for fans... no danger in that.

I'll start off by warning everyone now that this is a depressing topic but I want to come back down to reality before I start feeling like a Raiders fan. What do you think our chances are of actually making the Playoffs if we loss this week to Denver? To me its not possible... go into Cincy on a 4 game losing streak, plus the Steelers X 2, Colts, and Packers at home is a best case 9-7 if we lose Sunday. Even if by some sort of miracle we get 10-6 it still might not cut it. If we win this though we go into Cincy with momentum and have a good shot to take things back. In all honestly we probably don't belong in the playoffs this year if we lose 4 in a row anyway after having a bye to fix things. But I doubt these Donk's are going to want this W as much as we do so this week should be our turn around point.

The reality is, even if we lose to Denver this week, we'll still be OK so long as we don't lose to the Bengals next week. Technically, the Bengals game is more important from a playoff standpoint, as it's a divisional game. The Bengals game also happens to be the halfway point of our season, so in order to stay head-above-water, we have to win at least once in these next two weeks to still have a fighting chance at the postseason without having to go undefeated to finish the regular season.

So, the Denver game isn't necessarily do-or-die -- but still important, nonetheless. 5-3 at the halfway point of the season is certainly better than 4-4, which is infinitely better than 3-5.

We need to go back to the old style Ravens football to finish out strong. Whatever happened to the days where our Defense saw a dangerous threat on Offense and pounded them down so hard they couldn't play the rest of the season. We sort of did that in the Vikings game and it almost worked. It sounds dirty but I want to see Orton lights out in the first half if hes chewing us to pieces. Nothing dirty just a good old fashion Ray Lewis Mendenhall shoulder crushing hit.

Let me add whats Palmer doing playing healthy still at week 7? Lets turn the tide next week Ravens when Ngata breaks him to pieces. Lets play some physical ball!

Technically, you're right. We might be able to loose six games and still keep the playoff dreams alive. However, if we lose to the Broncos we will still have lost to an AFC team, which could hurt later on. We will also have lost every single game against a winning opponent, which does not bode well for our upcoming games against Cincy, GB, Indy, and Pitt (and possibly Chicago).

Yeaahh, that's true. However, but even in a fun kinda way, wouldn't the next game outcomes and outputs be a fatal ommision from the discussion of "the rest of the season"?
