Recent NFL history says the Ravens need to reach 10 victories to lock up a playoff berth for a second straight season. That translates to winning seven of their last 10 games, a homestretch that includes some of the best quarterbacks and stingiest defenses in the NFL.
Think we can do it?

The Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland and Oakland games are a given. That leaves 3 more, out of 6.

On the surface, a split with Pitt, and a GB win seem do-able - but the Packer game is at Lambeau Field on a Monday night, lots of pressure - and Pittsburgh's passing game is really cooking. Cincy's Offense is continuing to do well...

So - It depends on the defensive adjustments that Mattison comes up with. If he doesn't fix the pass D, then the schedule looks formidable...

yea for sure but we gotta take care of our division games.. and it really comes down to if we can fix our secondary problems or not.. u look at our big games to go and if we can use this bye week to fix up some schemes and get on the same page in the secondary then i think we can easily go on a winning streak coming out of the bye..

We definately need to focus on our division games. With pittsburgh and cincy both 5-2, we need to step up our D or prepare for next season during the play-offs.

Well, let's just say this, Cincy is for real, and Pitts got it together. So I'm seeing us at #6 at most if we don't win at least 9 of our last games.

It's always possible; at this point in the season, anything is possible. Well, unless you're the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, St. Louis Rams, and pretty much any team from this point on that hits their 7th loss in the next couple of weeks. Those guys are done even if they win out.

In our case, a few of the teams we face have had a level of adversity that makes it hard to say we're guaranteed a win or a loss. Only the Colts, Broncos, and Steelers are particularly scary: 1) The Colts are the Colts, and are surprisingly even better this season despite turnover in the coaching staff; 2) the Broncos have proven that they're legitimate thus far, despite their fluke win in the season opener; 3) the Steelers are the Steelers -- still the big monkey on our backs that we need to get off, as far as I'm concerned.

The biggest reason why I say the Broncos scare me, though? Both teams coming off a bye week next week when they meet -- that puts both teams on equal footing in their preparation, and frankly, it's too easy to say that we'd be more motivated to win because of the taste of defeat. Denver has belied all expectations this season, and if anything, we (as fans) shouldn't be overly confident about this game. The build to this game is all-too similar to the build before the Vikings game, when a lot of us said our guys would be extra-motivated to prove that they deserved to win the previous two weeks.

We HAVE to beat Cincy to have a chance. Indy will spank us, Pitt could very well beat us twice and we could very well lose to Denver. There isnt a large margin of error in the next 10 weeks fellas. Time to step up or look forward to that 10-15th overall draft choice.

I see two loses at home. Denver and Indy. Possibly Pittsburgh.

I see a loss at Pittsburgh, and possibly in Cincy.

Its going to be a nail biter.

As we all know, if the defense gets it together, we can make it. If not, then the Ravens will coninue to be just another team.

The next game is decisive, and if we win I imagine that we could probably upset Cincy and split with the Steelers.

If, as I expect, the defense continues to be underwhelming and we loose to Denver, then I can see us losing to Cincy especially at their house. We won't beat Indy either way, and if the defense is lacking we could easily lose to Pittsburgh twice.

I think this could be a typical down year for Baltimore, but I hope they find a way to not give the Broncos a win.

All you have to do is get hot. Teams go hot and cold all the time. Hopefully something clicks for us after the break. With 2 games against the Steelers and 1 against the Bengals. There's plenty of football to be played.

11 wins will probably take the division this year with 3 good teams fighting each other. We should be good to go if we finish off at 8-2 the rest of the year. Should be good enough at least for a wild card spot.

I think this team had better not get caught up in how many wins they need and focus on HOW THEY ARE PLAYING THE GAME. At their current level of play, if they don't do at least one of the following three things,,,,we are in BIG trouble:

1. Improve the cover skills in the secondary (I actually beleive that there is SO MUCH room for improvement, that they can get at least a little better. And with the small margin in our losses, the Ravens don't need them to become all pro, just improve a little).

2. Improve the pass rush on third down plays (Mattison needs to scheme better on first and second downs, so that on third downs the defense can do something the opponent hasn't seen before).

or

3. Flacco needs to throw the ball 45-50 times for 300 to 350 yards, while giving Ray Rice enough draw plays and misdirection runs from the shotgun formation, that he gets at least 70 to 80 yards on the ground.

i think we can do it. I think we could win out. This team has an amazing offense, a great punter and now great returner (webb). If the defense can become a force this team wins out. If they keep playing like they way they are, then i say we dont make the playoffs. The Ravens IMO will step up on D and become a SuperBowl threat.

This is one thing i never though i would say
We need the defense to play a lot better as our offense can not carry this team. although with Flacco and Rice behind center anything is possible.
Ray Rice = steal of the 2008 nfl draft

Not to mention, other teams in the division have to keep winning as well. Hopefully they will lay a few eggs and let us take advantage of that!

I honestly think Gaithers holds more weight...Because with our Secondary lag we are still able to win games.. That as long as the offensive line stays healthy we are able to out score our opponent...

Well i will call it like this (if we don't fix our Secondary problems)

Home games are:

Denver-lose
Indy-lose
Pittsburgh- Lose
Detroit-Win
Chicago-Lose

Away games are:

Cincy-Lose
Cleveland-Win
Green Bay-lose
Pittsburgh-Lose
Oakland-Win

I am judging this off of the way we been giving up big plays down field. All the teams i pick to win , all have something in common.. The have good QB's and Big playmakers at WR.

We could still win a majority of those games if our defense still slacks...

1)it is possible to beat denver, they are tough.. but alot of offenses have brought them close
2) against indy even if we did have a Defense it has never been able to stop them except for the 2006 playoffs... we have an offense.... we might be able to compete in a shoot out :) (or maybe I'm too confident)
3)Pittsburgh.. both of them, I promise that our team will play their best on both sides of the ball...
4)Chicago... they've been far too inconsistant... jay cutler makes too many mistakes, and matt forte has done NOTHING (trust me I know he's on my fantasy team)
5)against Cincy.. we felt like we were done dirty... we gotta grudge to settle with them
6)Greenbay could go either way... what scares me is their twelth man... the wind.. I wouldn't count on hauschka too much

first of all, i think it'll take 11 games in this diviion and it certainly isnt going to be easy. have to play the undefeated broncos next week (very "winable" game IMO), but then have to go TO cinci *coming off their bye week, steelers twice (1 *coming off their bye week), the undefeated colts, and so on and so on.. i have hope, but idk ladies and gents.. we didnt put ourselves in very good position after 7 weeks.

I am not even going to read the other posts. My answer= No.
I am hoping we: 1. Beat the Steelers at home; 2. Finish above .500.

Unfortunately I don't see it happening. Maybe we can come back stronger next season after Mattison has a year under his belt.

As I read in the daily headlines, we are running out of time. Even if we run this 4-3 perfect, we can't beat the steelers, Colts or Broncos. We got a perfect storm of problems. We can't stop the run, so we bring 8 in the box. We can't stop the pass, so Reed can't roam the field. We don't get pressure on passing down, so Orton will look like Manning and we still gotta play the real Manning. I'm praying we come out in the 3-4 next week. Like I said before, if they activate Kruger that tells me that we will play a 3-4. Otherwise I think the season is lost.

I think we can win 7 of 10 , it won't be easy but it is possible . It's definitely too early to say there's always next year . We are not quitters . Hang in there people and don't give up just work some voodoo on da black and gold , and da orange and black .

i think we can pull off all the victories against the remaining NFC north teams:

Lions: well its the lions...but Megatron still scares the hell out of me and probably scares foxy and fabian even more
GB: Their OL has looked awful the past few weeks and if we can generate a little pass rush we should be able to hold their high-powered O, and on offense ourselves we should be able to run and pass pretty effectively
Chicago: absolutely no defense with the losses of Tommie Harris and Urlacher; no big-time receivers to worry about either, and get a lil pressure on Cutler and its over

Cleveland is a gimme
As are the Raiders

I think we win 1/2 with Pitt, beat the Bengals (Flacco will go off I swear), beat Denver convincingly, and well lose to Indy because we can never beat Indy, Peyton Manning must circle that game every year he gets to play us, gets his stats way up.

that's 8/10 and would ultimately win us the division, im praying...just being an optimist

Just hit people. Thats it! Steelers beat the Vikings yesterday because their defense hit people all day and didn't let up. They gave up some big plays but they made the Vikings pay for it with bone crunching hits. Ryan Clark lit up Percy Harvin after a deep ball catch. Ravens need to bring back that fear in the secondary.
