If You Could Sign One "anybody" In The League

For coaches, Mattison for Dick LeBeau.

For players, Polamalu or Andre Johnson as mentioned would be sick; I'd take maybe DeMarcus Ware for Jarret Johnson, or Patrick Willis/Jon Beason for Gooden.

Jon Beason is probably the best unknown MLB in the league.

Now THIS is what I call "gratuitous dreaming" if I ever heard of it. But since I posted on it, I would not be able to keep my hands off of Polamalu. This kid is an absolute freak of nature. Ozzie almost had him in the draft, but the Steeler beat Ozzie to him. This guy was almost a Raven. Just imagine him and Ed Reed in the secondary. Scary right?

We didnt really miss him, we just didnt pick him. We got Suggs that year, then desperately went after Boller. I wouldnt say the Steelers beat Ozzie to it, we just picked someone else who turned out ok. As for him being a freak, yes. But he does sound like a girl, and I still hate him because he is a Steeler.

Actually Revis is way overrated (MIA monday night cough) and Aso isn't as good as Champ...Champ and Reed would make that secondary rediculous!...why people think just cuz Champ's over 30 he's still not the best??? he's still plays like it...

Yes, you are right, but all reports had the Ravens drafting Polomalu in the 1st round of the 2003 NFL draft. I hate to say this because Suggs is a good player and I absolutely love him....but he has not panned out to be the dominanat game-changer that Troy is.

True, the Polamalu commercials are definitely "girly-fied" but Troy is an absolutely freak.

Hmm, is that allowed? Wouldn't we have to give up Ray for Beason on Willis?

Carr for Nnamdi,
Andre Johnson for Mason,
or Ryan Succop for Hauschka; in that order.
So we'd give up our nickelback for a starting corner? :th_327321_Spy_23x22:

Andre Johnson for Mason no doubt and Polamalu for Landry.

Lol, ideally: yes. But right now, all our corners are nearly interchangeable... except for Walker, he brings something different to the game when he plays. (*Hint: it's yellow)

Adrian Peterson for Ray Rice.

I love Ray Rice but if this deal actually happened I would roll out the red carpet for AP

Maybe, but this is imaginationland, so the rules are kinda blurry. If that's what it took, though, I'd pull the trigger just based on their ages.

Since the OP said, "Any one player..." I'd take Andre Johnson for Mark Clayton.

If I could make a shopping list, I'd take:

Dallas Clark over Todd Heap
Larry Fitzgerald over Derrick Mason
Jared Allen over JJ
Patrick Willis over Tavares Gooden
Nnamdi Asomugha over Domonique Foxworth
Champ Bailey over Fabian Washington
Troy Polamalu over Dawan Landry
Ryan Succop over Steve Hauschka
Josh Cribbs over Chris Carr

Seriously?

Lets put our bias aside for one second here. Adrian Peterson is by far the best running back in the league, no contest.

Well Rice is one of our best receivers so maybe that's the idea behind it. He might be younger too, but I'm not positive...

I'd probably take AP, but it's not like we run the ball alot and running back isn't our weakest position by any means.

AP is the prototypical back that you build when you picture a HB. Hes big, strong, hits the hole in the line like an absolute demon and runs straight into anybody in his way and doesnt go down on the first tackle easily. Rice can catch better than him yes, but its easy to find a 3rd down back, its not easy to find somebody like AP. Hes built like Eddie George with George's toughness, but can flat outrun LBs and cut back with explosiveness as good as anyone Ive ever seen.

The only issue I'd have with exchanging Rice for AP is AP's injury history. Granted, it's been minor thus far, but you have to imagine that, with as many hits as he's taken in his young career, they'll keep piling on. I can almost envision AP eventually becoming as (gradually) broken-down as LaDainian Tomlinson is today -- but not before breaking some of LT's records, not coincidentally. The production is great during the regular season, but will his durability last throughout the playoffs? We have yet to find out. But if LT is any indication, don't count on #28 being as productive deep in the postseason as he normally is during the year, if the Vikings advance that far for years to come.

I really don't think the Drop off from AP to Rice is as big as advertised. Rice kills AP in yards per carry, with a pretty absurd 6.0 (AP's is an impressive 5.0), Rice has been much better out of the backfield, and Rice fumbles once every 180 carries, AP once every 49. Rice would be MVP frontrunner if McGahee hadn't poached goal line touches early in the season, and if we weren't sitting at 3-3 right now. And for the purpose of this thread, I'd be weary of trading Rice for AP because Peterson has taken an extraordinary amount of punishment for a career that's the equivalent of 2 games short of 2 seasons. Peterson has 739 totes to his name, compared with Rice's 180. So, all in all I don't think I would trade Rice for Peterson.

Polly over Landry.

Polly, Reed, Washington, and Foxy > Landry, Reed, Aso, and Foxy... IMO.

Sorry... but who is Polly?

I looked on NFL.com's player search, and the only "Polly" I could find is Polly Koch, who played 4 games in 1920 for the Rock Island Independents... :)
