God, I hate the Cavaliers. I cannot stand LeBron James at all. Personally (and I'm sure I'll take flak here for it too), I think he's overrated. The reason he has such "great" statistics, is because he's usually the only major player on the Cavs, especially before Mo Williams cam over. Whenever I hear people comment on his stats over MJ's, it's like they didn't realize that MJ had an amazing team around him. They didn't need to give him the ball every game all the time to win a game. And despite that, MJ garnered the reputation he has. LeBron is dished the ball constantly everytime because there's honestly not many options on the Cavaliers.

Anyways, I'm a Maverick fan. So I'm very interested in seeing how Marion performs in Dallas with Howard, Kidd, and Nowitzski. Here's to hoping the Spurs continue on a downward spiral this year. I cannot stand San Antonio, even more so than Cleveland.

Other teams I'm looking forward to see how they pan out:
LA Clippers: Wondering if Davis and Camby finally get it together and win some games.
Grizzles: Honestly, only to see how Allen Iverson fares after falling so far as to land in Memphis.
Miami Heat: They showed progress last year after a dismal season. Can they keep it up and maybe regain some of the success they had?
Philly 76ers: Two Words: Elton Brand.
Detroit Pistons: Wallace, McDyess and AI left, and Ben Gordon and Vilaneuva signed. Last year was such a shocking year from them, curious to see if it turns into a trend for them.

Oh man, I cannot stand Andersen, if anything because of his appearance. The man looks ridiculous. If he's at least gotten rid of that mohawk, he might look somewhat more respectable. Other than his looks though, I'm not quite fond of him. He's had quite the drug problem in the past few years, hence why he was banned for a few years. The Nuggets came up huge when they got Billups, he's exactly what they needed.

I'm a Magic fan, but I don't think I'm being too much of a homer when I say that they look like the best team on paper this year. Closely followed by the Celtics. I wasn't in love with the Carter trade at first, because I felt that Courtney Lee could've turned into a Vince Carter at a much more tender age. I still think he can, but I'm much happier with the trade now because Ryan Anderson has been just insane in preseason. I know preseason success isn't a guarantee of regular and postseason success, but it's a much better indicator than the NFL preseason. Plus you've got a healthy all-star point guard coming back (in Nelson), Howard will continue to improve (he makes huge strides in one area every season), one of the biggest matchup nightmares in the league (after 10 games, In Lewis), Vince Carter and an elite perimiter defender and a quality sharpshooter (in Pietrus). And that's just the starters. They're 12 deep, with the best backup C in the league (in Gortat), more marksmen at 3 different positions, (SF Barnes [who's a fierce defender to boot], SG Reddick and PF Anderson) a hustling big (in Bass) and steadying point guards (in Johnson and Williams). There's not really a component that we don't have right now.
But like I said, I also think the Celtics are strong. I actually like the Marquis Daniels pickup more than that of 'Sheed. The Cavs will be starting guys that I don't think could make the team on the Cs or the Magic. They're, once again, going to have to rely on Bron-Power. Speaking of LeTravel, I'm sure he's hating the fact that everyone can walk now, unless they just stop making him dribble.

I'm still pretty pissed that Bass signed with the Magic. I was really hoping to retain him.

I will give you that though. The Magic look very good this year. I could very well see them heading to the Finals this year. Probably the best team in the East right now. I just hope someone other than the Lakers represent the West this year. Oh yeah, and also someone other than the Spurs.

It's not that I hate LeBron, it's just that it's frustrating when he gets calls that no one else would get. He's plenty good enough to make things happen without help from the refs. Although I am a bit of a hypocrite because I love Dwayne Wade, even though he gets plenty of calls.
And I obviously I couldn't say for sure if Carter still has it, but I think he'll be better off playing on a team where he doesn't have to do it all. He can afford to be 3rd or 4th option once Rashard gets back. He won't be, he'll most likely be 2nd, but the pressure isn't on him to be Vinsanity every night. It should keep him fresher down the stretch, where he's struggled before.

By the way, my default home team, the Wizards, look really good. Agent 0 is back, and other new additions are having a big impact already. Should be an interesting season.

I respect your opinions on football but that is a grossly misinformed statement. You would think if that is the case, teams would double and triple him constantly and that would shut him down. What does he do? Still puts up nearly 30 points, 7-8 rebounds and 7-8 assists a night. He carried Cleveland to The NBA Finals by himself. Kobe didn't even get close to doing that!

What do you know, a decent supporting cast and the Cavaliers win 66 games. I can understand why other fans dislike him, I can't stand Kobe for instance. But I love my Cavaliers more than any sports team and I'm sorry but saying LeBron is overrated is like saying Peyton Manning isn't a good QB.

Now comparisons to Jordan also annoy me and I won't make outrageous statements like that, but his numbers are truly amazing... they are Jordan-esque whether you like it or not.

I await the flack from all the Wizards fans :P It's a hard life as a Cavs fan, which I have been since 2001 (BEFORE LeBron James) so don't rag on them too much. I won't disrespect your teams and look forward to discussing the NBA here.

By the way, Boston deserved that win today, as much as it pains me to say it.

And I thought we could have a sensible discussion. Grow up you clown, the man takes a beating. He gets calls yes, but so do many other stars. The fact LBJ doesn't go flying is because he is a beast. Did you see him complain once today? Infact did you see the game at all? He got called for a crucial charge and didn't say a word. Meanwhile Paul Pierce sulks and argues and KG is his typical prattish self. Take off your green and white shades.

I never said LeBron was the only player on the Cavs. He's the only true "major" player on the Cavaliers. His supporting cast is decent, but not excellent. The second best player they have is Mo Williams. When pushes comes to shove, LeBron needs to score big and perform well for the Cavs to win. He gets most of his assists because he's getting doubled, leaving a man open. It works for the Cavs, simply because they have some decent shooters, so when someone is left open (due to doubling James) it can easily turn into an easy basket. If LeBron is struggling, the Cavs are struggling. The team is dependent upon him. I'd hate to see the day when James is out for an extended period of time, it'll be rough for the Cavs to win.

Look at tonight, LeBron had 38 points on 22 FGAs. No one else had over 12. He takes the workload because he's really all the star power the Cavs have (unless you count Shaq, but I'm not passing judgement on him until a few weeks pass). The rest of the team is filled with role players. Hence why I've always said the team needs to be renamed to the "Cleveland LeBrons".

As for LeBron being a "baby", the only time I called him a baby is when he was pouting over on the sidelines the one game over a stubbed toe, or something ridiculous like that. Otherwise, yes, he takes a beating in every game.

And you cannot compare a basketball and football player in terms of being "overrated". A basketball player can truly be the only person on his team. In football, well... not so much. LeBron is good, yes. Very good, but I still, by no means, consider him better then Jordan. If it weren't for his ability to score while doubled, he'd struggle on the Cavs. Perhaps I'm biased, because I'm so sick and tired of hearing about him since high school (he was big news before the pro's over here).

(Although I agree with you on Pierce and Garnett. Pierce's attitude makes me angry everytime I have to watch a Celtics game)

Last I checked, Kobe Bryant was the Finals MVP this past season and led the Lakers to their 10th Championship (15th Overall)... I'm assuming you are referring to their respective supporting casts. Regardless, Kobe did carry his Lakers throughout the playoffs. No Kobe, no rings.

I thought the Celtics were going to be the better team come playoff time, but I didn't expect them to be hot enough out of the gate to beat the Cavs. Garnett was supposedly unfit (which he did look) and Marquis Daniels was essentially playing second unit point guard, even though I'd consider him a swingman, and maybe didn't have the time to mesh with the team yet, but he looked pretty decent. Also 'Sheed was playing more of a perimeter role than I had anticipated, but I think they're going to just use him however they can to hurt the other team. It'll come in handy when they play the Magic as well because he's always had Dwight's number on both ends of the court. LBJ was once again the team's focal point to a fault. He was very impressive, but putting that much on LeBron's shoulders isn't going to win ball games against elite teams. They'll need to work on balance a little bit.

Boston looked scarey good, Rasheed Wallace was making some great plays. We're lacking chemistry at the moment, too much of the preseason was spent trying to see who would make the roster rather than gelling who we have. People don't realise, but 3 of the top 6 rotation guys (7 when West is back) are new to the team. There are significant chemistry issues on defense. Mo Williams still looks rattled from the ECF failings. I'm not concerned, they'll work it out.

Yeah he's out of sync with the team, he doesn't know the system yet. He'll figure it out, Moon and Parker will too.

I'm probably a little aggressive here towards fellow Ravens fans, but I just get so sick of people bagging the Cavs. People don't seem to realise what an ordeal it is supporting this team. They have never won in 40 years! Granted, I've been a fan since 2001, and witnessed two awful seasons (admittedly I picked them because they were so bad), but all the same, this fantastic player comes through for essentially his home team and puts the team on his shoulders and does great things for the franchise. Even last year, where we were supposed to make The Finals at least, we get stumped by the Magic and that hurt everyone big time. It was even more painful seeing those threes that buried us start missing as soon as the opponents had yellow and purple on.

I can also understand there isn't much love here for Cleveland as a city due to the NFL rivalries and several heated playoff series between the Cavs and Wizards. I apologise if my responses are vigourous, I will happily engage in sensible discussion. But unfounded comments or just things like 'LeBron is a baby' or 'LeBron sucks' are just stupid. Either you don't watch the Cavs or have a personal problem with LeBron. I won't lie, I dislike Kobe, KG and Howard due to rivalries. I won't be unreasonable about these players though. I hope we can respectfully talk about each other's teams or players.

[/quote]

Yeah, I didn't mean exactly stacked with big name star power. But at least a good supporting casting, so the outcome of the game doesn't fall squarely on the shoulders of one guy almost every game. Like I said, if James goes down for an extended amount of time, the Cavs could very well be dead in the water, as the Cavs don't have depth in the talent department after him. Williams would probably end up their best player. Honestly, if I were the Cavs, I would have gone after someone other than Shaq, if I wanted another big name. Shaq's days are slowly dwindling in the NBA, which saddens me because of how much I liked him.

I haven't gotten the chance to watch him myself this season, but from what I understand he's struggling. If he can at least regain some of his dominance in the paint, then he could give the Cavs some leeway for James, not alot, but some. It's just I, personally, would have gone after more of a shooter, then a post monster for James.

And the only thing that truly amused me about James getting swept was the attitude of every basketball fan in my area. Everyone was on the "Cavs are winning the championship this year thanks to 'King James'". So of course, after he gets swept, I just had to change my myspace status to "You Are All Witness... to LeBron getting swept in the Finals". Not like they fared much better the next year, but to be fair they did lose to the eventual champion Celtics. So, eh.

Number 1, I am by no means bagging the Cavs... I have a LeBron jersey in my closet, for your information, and he's one of my favorite players. I'm just saying people need to give Kobe some more credit; he was incredible throughout last year's playoffs, regardless of the players around him. Number 2, what does it mean to be "removed from the situation"? I'm a fan, you're a fan, of course I'm removed from the situation, no need to have a disparaging tone in your post as if you're the Cavaliers GM or someone on the "inside" of NBA know-how. I respect your opinion, and I think you should return the courtesy minus the attitude.

i hate the lakers(liked them when shaq was there but that was cuz shaq was there),but everytime I see Kobe play I gotta grin and shake my head. The man is a court general.I can't disrespect good play(even tho I think he gets all Tom Brady when arguing calls sometimes, then again most star players do).Kobe is a beast and if I started and NBA team he'd be in my top 5 definitly to get.

I can't believe Dallas beat the Lakers. Although, I'll be the first to admit, some of those fouls called on Artest were shady at best. But then again, I've never liked Artest, so I don't exactly feel bad for the guy.

On a side note, Washington is looking surprisingly good so far.

Yeah, guys with a reputation will always have calls made on them or, if they're a superstar, be given the benefit of the doubt
