"professor" Mcnair?

9 posts in this topic

While walking to class a little while ago, I saw something written on a door about a class being taught by a Professor McNair. I thought that with McNair on the sidelines for at least three weeks, wouldn't it be a great time for him to start really mentoring Troy Smith. He could even help out Boller, since I'm sure Steve will be at the games. He could go from being "Air" McNair to "Professor" McNair.

I was just saying that because Boller has already improved a lot since McNair has been here. I'm sure there's even more that he can teach Boller as well. But if we are going to have Smith for the future, why not have him learn from one of the greats?

I do not want to see McNair start another game for the Ravens, but you are right Boller and Smith can both benefit from his experience.

It would be great but I am not sure if McNair is willing. The Titans treated him pretty bad but people dont talk about the fact that the reason McNair wouldnt redo his contract to open up cap space is because he wanted out of Tennesse because he didnt want to mentor Vince Young. I think it was because in his mind that would mark the end for him and he was in denial. I think after these two games, reality has set in and maybe he will be willing to mentor from the backup role now. I know he has helped Kyle Boller but its always easier to lead from the front then the back and I think at the very least he owed it to Boller to help him because after all when McNair got here Boller came back to Baltimore early to help McNair learn the offense.

Are you a steelers fan?

Nah, i dont want to see mcnair start either but his style of play is similar to both kyle and Troy. Kyle and troy and Steve are all scramblers, and they are not afraid to leave the pocket. Steve at one time had a great arm (believe it or not) and threw downfield like crazy. Kyle and troy have the same mentality. It would be hard to have someone like peyton manning mentor someone like michael vick because they have different style of playing.

McNair can and has helped with the mentoring of Both Boller and Troy Smith........due to McNair's guidence since coming here last season, Boller has shown Considerable Improvement and has shown that he can be the Guy that we first drafted him to become. all he needed was time and a Tutor. and now that he's had that...you can see the benefits of it working and paying off for him. same thing goes for Troy, with time and effort, and with McNair teaching him right from wrong, i can see Troy Becoming the Offensive Player/Quarterback we drafted him to be.
