Some Monday Night Football Questions

24 posts in this topic

There are some monday night questions that i would like to get cleared up of:

1. Whatever happened to Al Michaels and John Madden commentating on Monday Night Football? I liked that better.

2. In the pre-game ceremony song thing, whatever happened to that crazy piano dude with the crazy black hair if you know what im talking about?

3.WHY THE HELL DO WE KEEP ON LOSING THESE GAMES ALL THE FREAKIN TIME?

1) Al Michaels and John Madden are no longer on Monday Night Football because Al Michaels' contract with ABC expired with ABC's contract with the NFL, and he decided to move to NBC to take over Sunday Night Football. John Madden simply followed suit because there's no other commentator he'd rather be paired with.

2) That would be Hank Williams. He still does the intro song and records all of the lyrics before the start of the season, once the matchups for MNF are announced.

3) No comment. Lots of reasons, not just Billick or McNair or insert-your-popular-reason-here. There's no one reason, since this is a TEAM sport and therefore a TEAM effort. The entire TEAM takes the wins with the losses together.

I actually like Tony Kornheiser as the third man in the booth.

Mike Tirico does a good enough job as the play-by-play analyst, but Ron Jaworski is getting a bit taxing. He fizzes out too easily up there, and I get bored listening to him at times, since he seems to take a biased slant in a lot of what he says. Maybe it's HOW he's saying it rather than what he's actually saying.

At least Kornheiser tells it like it is most of the time, and does a good job of keeping things balanced.

I liked Jaws as an analyst on ESPN Countdown. Back then, he loved the Ravens.

doesnt he still?

I agree....i think the booth is not very good. I feel like Kornheiser doesn't provide much, and Jaws was much better on the matchup show on sunday mornings on espn.......plus, i'm not a huge fan of a 3 man booth to begin with...

i agree, any so call "analyst" that is saying anything good about the Ravens, i think i'll take lol....all other's that dont think this is so (meaning all other analysts) just seem to be hopping on the "raven Hater" band wagon and not recoginze this team for what kind of Talent that this team REALLY does have, instead all they focus on are the bad points and the missed assignments, the Losses, the penalties....the whole deal.

The best of all time was Howard Cosell...he was a walking, talking football encyclopedia. He was the Ben Stein of sports...and, just like a Bird or Magic, made those around him better, like Frank Gifford and "Dandy" Don! Tony's of the same mold only he has to work at it more...football's not as "natural" for him...and it's a tough gig! MNF has had it's share of flops! He's under tremendous scrutiny...but, I think this crew is "decent" enough...I usually make it to halftime!!!

 J/k

Seriously, karma's a big B, though...hence why I don't trash talk much nowadays, and whatever happens, happens.

I mean, I went from enduring two difficult seasons as a Ravens fan in Eagles country in high school when the team went 9-7 and then 6-10, and once I upgraded to INTELLIGENT trash-talking, the team went 13-3 while I stayed humble.

And then I regressed back to childish trash-talking for the divisional games this season...and look what happened.

So...yea. Keeping my mouth shut from now on, win or lose, PERIOD. LOL

But yes, just watch...karma will make its way around again.

I never talk trash to my friends if their team loses if the Ravens haven't played yet. That way, they can't return the favor if the Ravens lose.

Here's NEXT Monday night's football question: Will it be an instant "classic"...like last week's block-buster Sunday night Eagles at Patriots match-up...of will it be a "dud"? I'm pretty sure Adalius Thomas is looking forward to it...as I'm assuming Ray Lewis is, also! Too bad they can't settle their differences head-to-head, on the field of battle...'cuz that would be something to behold, I'm sure!

Anyone else miss Jimmy the Greek? What happened to that guy? Oh right, he said something about how back in the old days slave owners would breed their biggest, strongest slaves and that's why we have the NFL. Oh well... He's dead now, isn't he?

Jimmy's "credentials", by the way, were nothing more than his being a glorified bookie! He was always being hounded by the IRS...and his racist comments on MNF only served to blow his ligitamacy regarding holding down a "real job"! As it turned out, he never really knew when to "fold 'em"! I guess one might crudly say that he was done in by a spade flush! However...may the bigot RIP! I'm sure he's residing in the proper place these days...wherever his life's work dictated. And...I LIKED the guy!
