Defector

I've Had Enough!

8 posts in this topic

I've come to the realization that the Redskins are never going to be anything with the current owner. I have to stop living in the past. The days of Joe Theisman, Art Monk, and the
Diesel are looong gone. I just got reminded that the skins have won a wopping TWO playoff games in the last TEN years!!! Every year I'm hopefull and every year disapointed. Almost every draft pic has been a bust. Players are seen partying at local clubs gettin their drink on and smoking stuff two nights before a game. There is a big lack of leadership from the top down. Vinny Cerato+ Daniel Snyder= clueless clowns! I've been Watching the Ravens, being in the same state and love to cheer for them whenever they play the Steelers. Damn fans seem to be everywhere! Go back to Piksburg!!! oh I forgot, it's a ****hole!! Anyway, I hope you except an ex Deadskin fan who will be commited to the blue and black! J/k Purple!

You can't give up on your favorite team just because of a stretch of bad seasons. I would hate it if the Ravens ever went a long time without a winning season, but I wouldn't give up on them. Even when Robert Irsay destroyed the BALTIMORE Colts, I was still a fan, until 1984 when the team moved. It's only when ownership does something unforgivable like that that I feel it is acceptable to cut ties with your favorite team.

After the Colts left town I started to follow the Redskins, and had a strong place in my fanhood for teams like the Packers, that had been around forever and strong fan bases nation wide (even tolerating Steelers fans until recently). When Art Modell moved his team to Baltimore I didn't like the idea, because of the way the Irsay's moved my favorite childhood team, but leaving the team name, colors, and records in Cleveland made me change my attitude toward them after a while. It was hard for me to stop liking the Redskins, since they did fill the void the Colts move left me with (much to the chagrin of my uncles who despised the Skins). I still like the Redskins, since they're in the NFC I don't feel the conflict as much, so if you want to have your favorite AFC team be the Ravens that's cool. But if you abandon the Redskins because of this current situation they are in, you are no better than a bandwagon or fairweather fan and that SUCKS!

Besides it was just 2 years ago (2007) the Redskins went 9-7 and made it in as a wildcard team in the playoffs, in 2005 they were 10-6, I know there have been a couple of 5-11 and 6-10 seasons sprinkled in there, but you can't stop liking your favorite team because of that.

Strangebru -- As a new member here and a Skins fan since birth, through all the highs and lows, I'm coming from (I think) the same place Defector is. It's not a matter of the Skins losing...I've sat through many a losing season, and it's not about being a fair-weathered fan. I remember when the Colts left town, and what's going on in DC is similar. Sure, the Skins are still here physically, but it's not the same team and it's not the same franchise. The owner is a greedy little kid with a Napolean complex, who has absolutely run the franchise into the ground and has total disregard for the team's players, coaches and fans. Believe me, if the right offer came along, he would move the Skins out of DC in a heartbeat, just as with the Colts. While a piece of my heart will always be burgundy and gold, I will never ever be able to support the team while Snyder is the owner. Any ticket I buy, any jersey I wear, any beer I drink at the stadium, will only serve to line his pockets...

Welcome aboard!!!

I see no issue with any present or former skins fans following the Ravens.

We share the same geographic area and there is usually no conflict of interest as they only play each other once every 4 years in the regular season.

Since many former colts fans fans shifted to the skins in the 12 years known as the dark ages we always welcome anyone on our small but dedicated bandwagon.
